Chapter 87: Chapter 87 Ye Xiu’s Behind-the-Scenes Scheming

「At Ye Xiu’s home.」

After receiving instructions from Ye Xiu, Chloe went to the living room and said to the mysterious woman sitting on the sofa, ”You can leave now.”

The woman wore a peaked cap, sunglasses, and a mask. Despite the summer heat, she was dressed in a black trench coat and even wore gloves. Not a sliver of her skin was visible.

”Since you’re so confident, go find him yourself. Staying here won’t get you an audience with him,” Chloe said impassively.

”Where is Divine Doctor Ye?” the mysterious woman asked.

Chloe gestured for her to leave. ”Please go. From now on, you are not to return without the Young Master’s permission.”

The eyes behind the mysterious woman’s sunglasses gave Chloe a deep look before she stood up and left.

After leaving Tu Mountain Manor, the woman drove to a cemetery.

There, a very ordinary-looking man in his forties sat in front of the tombstones of Ye Xiu’s mother and maternal grandparents. Zheng Yiwen knelt before him. Beside her lay two corpses—the men Ye Xiu had assigned to monitor her around the clock.

When the mysterious woman arrived, she said nothing, quietly watching the middle-aged man interrogate Zheng Yiwen.

”Zheng Yiwen, the organization ordered you to destroy Ye Xiu. The goal was to push him into a corner so we could absorb him into the organization and acquire the source of his medical skills. Yet, you claimed that Ye Xiu had died.”

The middle-aged man glared at Zheng Yiwen, suppressing his rage. ”But now Ye Xiu has reappeared, alive, and has even become a Great Grandmaster. Aren’t you going to explain yourself?”

”I’ve already said everything I have to say. What more do you want from me?” Zheng Yiwen shrieked hysterically.

”If you refuse to cooperate, I’ll send someone to kill your son, Ye Xuan, and your daughter, Ye Lin’er, right now,” the middle-aged man threatened.

”No...” Zheng Yiwen panicked. ”It’s all my fault! It has nothing to do with my son and daughter. Please, don’t drag them into this.”

”Tell me the truth about what happened back then, or I’ll have Ye Xuan and Ye Lin’er brought here and cut into a thousand pieces before your very eyes,” the middle-aged man said coldly.

”And you’ll let my son and daughter go if I tell you?” Zheng Yiwen asked.

”As long as you tell the truth, I guarantee I won’t harm Ye Xuan and Ye Lin’er,” the man promised.

”Alright!”

Zheng Yiwen relented. ”Back then, I followed the organization’s plan. I instigated the previous Medicine King and the Li Family, along with many famous doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies, to frame Ye Xiu and ruin his reputation.

”After that, I encouraged the Ming Family to hire someone to run over and kill his mother and maternal grandparents. According to the plan, Ye Xiu should have been left with no other choice but to join the organization.

”But I didn’t expect the Ming Family to hire an assassin on their own. This led to Ye Xiu going into hiding to evade pursuit, and his whereabouts became a mystery. Eventually, he was smuggled out of the country and vanished completely.

”Fearing punishment from the organization, I lied and told them that Ye Xiu was dead.”

If Ye Xiu had heard this, he would have been astonished. For all of Ming Feng Tower’s intelligence network, they had only discovered that Zheng Yiwen was the primary mastermind, completely missing the fact that someone else was pulling her strings.

”What do you know about the origin of Ye Xiu’s medical skills and Kung Fu?” the middle-aged man asked.

”I know nothing,” Zheng Yiwen replied.

The middle-aged man scrutinized her expression and eyes. Once he confirmed she wasn’t lying, he suddenly struck her forehead with his palm. Zheng Yiwen collapsed to the ground, dead.

”Dragon Hollyhock, has Ye Xiu agreed?” the middle-aged man asked, turning to the mysterious woman.

”I didn’t see him,” the mysterious woman, Dragon Hollyhock, replied. ”Uncle Bo, why do you insist that I find Ye Xiu?”

”Because this is the only way to confirm if the source of his medical skills and Kung Fu is what the elders suspect,” the middle-aged man, Long Bo, said.

”I don’t understand,” Dragon Hollyhock said.

”Let me put it this way,” Long Bo explained. ”If Ye Xiu is the man we are looking for, then once one of his women gets pregnant, her body will show unusual signs.”

”Then we can just observe Qin Qing. There’s no need for me to get pregnant with Ye Xiu’s child,” Dragon Hollyhock argued.

”The unusual signs that manifest after becoming pregnant with his child cannot be seen by outsiders,” Long Bo stated.

It dawned on Dragon Hollyhock. ”In that case, why don’t we just capture Ye Xiu and force him to sleep with me or some other woman?”

”No!” Long Bo decisively refused. ”Ye Xiu’s strength is unfathomable, and Huang Quan is in Jin Ye City. We cannot act rashly. We must proceed one step at a time.”

If Ye Xiu were to hear this, he would have died laughing. The counterfeit Huang Quan was long dead! Of course, quite a few people knew the deceased Huang Quan was a fake, but they were too afraid of trouble to ever speak out. As a result, the entire world believed the counterfeit was the real Huang Quan, and that he resided in Jin Ye City.

”Are you saying you can’t defeat Ye Xiu and Huang Quan?” Dragon Hollyhock asked, shocked.

”I don’t know,” Long Bo said, shaking his head.

”Besides getting pregnant with his child, is there any other way to prove he is the person we’re looking for?” she asked.

”The person we seek has a dragon-shaped pattern on his left arm, but this pattern is invisible,” Long Bo said. ”It will only appear if the person reveals it willingly or if his left arm is cut off. Otherwise, it will not appear.

”For now, you will continue to find ways to get close to Ye Xiu, and I will try to obtain his left arm. We’ll see which of us succeeds first.”

”I hope you succeed. I have no desire to bear Ye Xiu’s child,” Dragon Hollyhock said with disgust, her contempt for him clear.

...

Ye Xiu was unaware that Zheng Yiwen and his two men were dead, nor did he know that someone was plotting against him from the shadows. He and Yun Lan had just arrived at the Saint He Medical College.

”Brother Ye, it’s lunchtime. What are we doing here?” Yun Lan asked.

”I’m taking you to try the food at the Saint He Medical College cafeteria,” Ye Xiu said.

”I can’t stomach cafeteria food,” Yun Lan protested. ”How about I treat you to a nice restaurant instead?”

”With my face, I’d cause a commotion no matter which restaurant I went to. Only the cafeteria at Saint He Medical College is safe,” Ye Xiu replied with a wry smile.

”Fine, then you go ahead. I’ll eat out by myself,” Yun Lan said.

”Alright!”

Ye Xiu didn’t press the issue. After all, she was the pampered daughter of a wealthy family. Even if the chefs at Saint He Medical College were five-star, she would never appreciate the cafeteria’s environment.

After watching Yun Lan leave, Ye Xiu entered the campus. The moment he stepped inside, teachers and students who saw him all offered their congratulations.

”Congratulations on your exoneration, Divine Doctor Ye!”
