Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 99, The Profession Characteristics of the Sword Tamer

Translator: Silavin

After the Black Scaled Giant Python’s head was pierced by the red light, it instantly froze. The next second, with a *thud*, it collapsed to the ground. It was instantly killed.

The red light that had just flashed by, returned. It appeared in front of Jian Ying in the blink of an eye, and was grabbed by her.

At this moment, everyone saw what this red light was. It was a crimson sword.

This sword was about a hundred centimetres long, its entire body like a red hot, like a branding iron. It was without much decorative pattern and its shape was slender and smooth, looking very light.

Everyone’s attention was drawn to Jian Ying’s weapon.

This weapon was clearly not ordinary, and when most people use swords, they generally engage in Close Combat.

Even the Sword God, the Second Profession Change of Swordsmen, uses Sword Qi to attack enemies.

Jian Ying’s fighting style of directly controlling swords from a distance was truly rare.

Lu Fan showed curiosity about Jian Ying’s abilities and actively inquired, “Jian Ying, is this your Profession Characteristics? Are Sword Tamers about killing people by controlling swords? Also, your weapon seems to be extraordinary.”

Jian Ying thought for a moment. She reflected how Lu Fan had never summoned his Pet Dragon outside. But here, in the Dungeon Instance, he did not treat her as an outsider and even summoned his new Pet Dragon that others had not seen before. By all accounts, she should not conceal too much either.

So Jian Ying openly revealed her Level and information about her Profession, as well as the Attributes of the sword in her hand.

Jian Ying was now Level 21, only one Level below Lu Fan.

This did not surprise Lu Fan; it was very normal for someone as strong as Jian Ying to be over Level 20. However, what Lu Fan found strange was her sword, which had particularly special Attributes.

Blood Breaker Sword (Exclusive Gold)
Current Level: 21

Strength +30Agility +126

Additional Special Effects:

Armour Piercing – Ignores 30% of the opponent’s defence.

Lightness – Increases sword Movement Speed by 40%.

A Gold weapon with both Strength and Agility bonuses, increasing Attributes by nearly 160 points. This was definitely considered top quality among Level 20 Gold weapons.

At the same time, this sword had two Special Effects, Armour Piercing and Lightness. Either of these Special Effects made this sword seem like that of an Assassin. It was fast in attacking, and had high Burst Damage, and overall high Damage Output.

These were not the main issues though, The key was the few aspects of this equipment that could not be ignored.

First, it was labelled as ‘Exclusive Gold’ after its name, not just ‘Gold’.

Lu Fan had never seen or even heard of a so-called ‘Exclusive Gold’ equipment.

But judging from the name, this sword should only be equippable by Jian Ying.

Secondly, most equipment usually had Level increments of 5, like Level 5 equipment, Level 10 equipment, and so on. Lu Fan had never seen or heard of Level 21 equipment like this. Moreover, the Level displayed was ‘Current Level’ rather than ‘Required Level’.

All these factors combined made this weapon named Blood Breaker Sword seem strange in every aspect.

Jian Ying was not in the habit of keeping secrets. After showing everyone her weapon, she explained, “These weapons are generated by my Sword Tamer Profession.”

This statement made everyone greatly surprised. A Combat Specialised Profession that could generate its own equipment?!

Jian Ying tried to concisely explain her Profession Characteristics, “My Profession automatically generates swords for weapons. These weapons start at Level 1 White equipment. They can gain Experience Points and Level Up with me. As they Level Up, their Grade and Attributes will also improve.”

“My Profession Characteristics controls swords from a distance as you just saw. That is one of my Skills.” Jian Ying did not say much, but her explanation of her Profession Characteristics was clear enough for everyone to understand.

Everyone was greatly surprised because by the Sword Tamer Profession. It was such a rare Profession that this was the first time they had learned about its Profession Characteristics.

Everyone knew that Beast Tamers might need to bring their Pets into Dungeon Instances to raise their Pets’ Levels. However, this Profession was one that brought its own weapons into a Dungeon Instance to raise its weapons’ Levels… that was truly unprecedented.

Lu Fan also noticed the detail, that Jian Ying said ‘these weapons’ rather than ‘this weapon’. [So, Jian Ying should have more than just one Blood Breaker Sword.]

[The Blood Breaker Sword’s Level probably can’t exceed Jian Ying’s own Level. Now that the Blood Breaker Sword is already Level 21 and cannot Level Up further, Jian Ying must be seeking out Dungeon Instances with a High Experience Point Reward to Level Up her other weapons. This is quite similar to me who wants to Level Up Xiao Cui.]

As if to confirm Lu Fan’s thoughts, Jian Ying took out a second sword.

This sword was entirely azure blue, like an ice crystal. It was constantly emitting waves of cold air.

Because Jian Ying had not hidden its Attributes, everyone could see this sword’s Attributes.

It was a Level 14 Silver weapon, with Attributes a lot more inferior to the Blood Breaker Sword. Still, it already had an additional Special Effect, Frost – After hitting an enemy, reduces the enemy’s Movement Speed by 30%.

It was clear that this weapon named Ocean Freezing Sword also had amazing growth potential.

Jian Ying was running Dungeon Instances to raise this sword’s Level as well. As for whether Jian Ying had other weapons and what kind of Profession Skills she had, she did not explain further, and Lu Fan and the others did not bother to ask.

After learning about Jian Ying’s Profession Characteristics, everyone stopped wasting time and continued to advance, looking for more Dungeon Instance Monsters to kill.

This Dungeon Instance truly lived up to its reputation as the highest Experience Dungeon Instance. There were many Monsters, and the group encountered Monsters again after walking just a few steps.

This time, they encountered two Black Scaled Giant Pythons and a Black Armoured Poison Scorpion.

The Black Armoured Poison Scorpion was of a similar Level to the Black Scaled Giant Python, with nearly identical Attributes, except its attacks carried Poison. Nevertheless, due to this one characteristic, it was still not very friendly to Close Combat Professions.

Jian Ying might have thought that Lu Fan, carrying a greatsword, should be a Close Combat Profession, so she did not expect Lu Fan to go up and kill such Monsters.

She directly controlled her sword from a distance, using the Blood Breaker Sword to kill Monsters, basically replacing the position of an Archer.

The Blood Breaker Sword’s Armour Piercing Special Effect was very effective against Monsters like the Black Scaled Giant Python and Black Armoured Poison Scorpion, which had high defence but Low Health Points.

Combined with Xiao Cui casting the Jade Light Buff on Jian Ying, increasing her Attributes by 30%, she felt her condition to be unprecedentedly good. Wielding the Blood Breaker Sword to kill enemies, she could finish them off in just two or three strikes. If she hit a weak point, she might even solve the problem in one strike.

The Sword Tamer’s Damage Output was not low. Even facing Level 40 Monsters, she could deal with them as easily as cutting melons and vegetables, which actually saved Lu Fan some trouble.

Seeing that Jian Ying’s own Damage Output was sufficient, Lu Fan simply handed over the task to deal damage to Jian Ying and stayed in the back, taking it easy.

Only Qin Qiu, although knowing her Damage Output was relatively low, still continuously released Skills to help Jian Ying deal more damage.

Jian Ying had no complaints about this. Because even with five people sharing Experience Points, this Dungeon Instance still provided a ton of Experience Points. Being able to run this Dungeon Instance, Jian Ying was already more than satisfied.

Although in the team, it seemed like she was dealing all the Damage, and the remaining four were – One was a Lifestyle Specialised Profession, purely there to make up numbers; One small Swordsman, needing to protect the Lifestyle Specialised Profession; One Holy Light Mage, with limited output; And one Dragon Tamer, using one Dragon to cast Buffs in the back while playing around with another Dragon like it was their Family bonding time.

Jian Ying nevertheless felt the team atmosphere was quite good.

The Big Sister with the Lifestyle Specialised Profession often took out various snacks that could add Attributes from her Inventory to feed everyone; The Swordsman talked a lot, being the team’s mood-maker. When everyone was killing Monsters together, there was never a dull moment with her around; The Holy Light Mage, knowing her output could hardly break through High Level Monsters’ defence, did not slack off at all…

As for the Dragon Tamer, although he seemed a bit lazy, his Skill that could increase Attributes by 30% and remove all Debuffs and Negative Status Effects was too useful. Running Dungeon Instances with him was more comfortable than bringing a Priest.

Clearing Dungeon Instances like this, the little extra effort was certainly worth it.

The group advanced for about half an hour, encountering Monsters every few steps, which turned into Experience Points for everyone.

Although Xiao Cui, like Xiao Ye, was also an Experience bottomless pit, her Level was originally low. With Lu Fan’s Accelerated Growth Aura, this Baby Dragon was Levelling Up quite fast. In just this short time, she had already reached Level 2 and was about to reach Level 3.

It was worth mentioning that Lu Fan’s Bloodline Sharing Skill also affected Xiao Cui’s Attributes.

Among Xiao Cui’s All Four Attributes, only her Mana was exceptionally high, which was quite unbalanced. Her Mana growth rate was even higher than Xiao Ye, an all rounder. So, Lu Fan gained an extremely high Mana Attribute Boost from Xiao Cui, gradually changing his originally balanced All Four Attributes, with Mana becoming much higher than the other Attributes.

As Xiao Cui grew in the future, this gap would become even larger. That was, unless Lu Fan had other Pet Dragons to balance it out with the Attribute Boost.

However, it was not like he was complaining, who would not want their Attributes to be high? With such high Mana Attributes, the power of his two Dragon language Magic Skills would also see a significant increase.

After clearing for a while longer, a golden light suddenly shone on Jian Ying’s Ocean Freezing Sword – it had Levelled Up.

A faint smile appeared on Jian Ying’s usually icy face.

At this time, Jian Ying and Qin Qiu, the two Main Damage Dealers, were clearly somewhat fatigued. Such prolonged combat made them need a temporary rest. Especially Qin Qiu, who had been continuously casting Skills. Even though her Mana Attribute was not low, she was having trouble persisting.

Seeing this, Lu Fan patted Xiao Cui, letting her cast Spring of Life on everyone.

No one was injured, so the massive heal was basically useless. However, the ‘fueling’ effect of Spring of Life made everyone’s Stamina, Health, and Mana recover rapidly. The most direct feeling was that there was an endless stream of power surging from within their bodies.

A green spring appeared above everyone’s heads, continuously pouring down on them, making everyone feel extremely comfortable, with all fatigue being swept away.
