Chapter 55, Best Friend Tao Zi

After speaking, Li Qun began to take out Transfer Stones from his Mission Inventory and distribute them one by one to the students present.

When he got to Lu Fan, Li Qun was pleasantly surprised and questioned, “Lu Fan? You’ve come to take the major exam too?”

Lu Fan smiled and responded, “Yeah. I went to the Wilderness for these past seven days and feel like I’ve gotten a lot stronger, so I came to take the major exam, planning to get into a good school.”

“Good, good.” Li Qun felt deeply gratified and nodded encouragingly, “Then, you should work hard later and get a good score. I have high hopes for you! Here’s your Transfer Stone. When you get to the waiting area, try to see if anyone in our class is willing to team up with you. With your Attributes and combat awareness, you might not perform worse than someone who gotten a Combat Specialised Profession.”

“I understand,” Lu Fan did not say much. He just nodded and responded perfunctorily.

In fact, it was obvious that even if Li Qun said so, no one in the class would be willing to team up with him. After all, with him in the team, he would take a portion of their points, which was the key metric to measure their performance in the major exam.

After Li Qun finished distributing the Transfer Stones, he looked at the time, gave a few more reminders, and then let everyone use the Transfer Stones to go to the waiting area.

Lu Fan used the Transfer Stone and immediately felt a pulling sensation in his body. He was soon teleported to a vast space.

It was a Small Secret Realms, with a lone huge platform and a hazy white sky.

Besides Lu Fan, there were over ten thousand examinees gathered here, with more constantly being teleported in.

Above everyone’s heads was a giant vortex, like a black hole opening in the sky.

Lu Fan knew this was the exam question for this year’s major exam.

Every year’s major exam was set by Dragon Country’s experts. They copied parts of scenarios from some Dungeon Instances and filled them into a place called the Sky Scaling Tower.

It was said that the Sky Scaling Tower had a hundred floors, each floor with a different scene and many Monster Projections.

When examinees killed Monster Projections, they could gain points as their exam score.

The vortex above everyone’s heads was the entrance to the Sky Scaling Tower. When the exam time came, the entrance to the Sky Scaling Tower would open, and everyone would enter the Sky Scaling Tower Dungeon Instance to start the assessment.

There was still half an hour before the Sky Scaling Tower opened. Everyone could decide during this half hour whether to take the exam alone or in a team.

If teaming up, they could now go find their teammates.

With Xiao Ye, Lu Fan naturally did not need others to team up with him and share points.

After arriving at the waiting area, Lu Fan did not move a step. He just waited idly for the major exam to begin.

Most others started looking for reliable teammates, after all, each Profession had certain limitations. It was only by teaming up could they compensate for their Profession’s weaknesses.

As Lu Fan was waiting for the major exam to start, he suddenly heard someone calling him from afar.

“Lu Fan!” Lu Fan turned to look, and sure enough, it was Qin Qiu.

Beside Qin Qiu was a girl in full silver armour. They seemed to be very familiar with each other.

This girl was also a beauty, but compared to Qin Qiu’s youthful and pure aura, she was completely different. Although this small beauty was half a head shorter than Qin Qiu, she had short hair, strong facial features, sword-like eyebrows and star-like eyes. She had a hint of masculine spirit, not too much but just right to make her eye catching.

Qin Qiu brought the small beauty over to Lu Fan with a jog, smiling and greeting him, “What a coincidence, Lu Fan. I just teleported here and saw you.”

“Yes, quite the coincidence,” Lu Fan smiled and nodded in response.

Qin Qiu pulled over the small beauty beside her and introduced her to Lu Fan, “By the way, let me introduce you. This is my best friend from First Academy. You can call her Tao Zi. She’s a Level 14 Swordsman. She’s strong.”

“Tao Zi, this is Lu Fan, a friend I met earlier in the Mountain Stone Plains. He’s a Dragon Tamer, and he’s very strong.”

Lu Fan was very polite, nodding to Tao Zi in greeting, “Hello.”

“Hello,” Tao Zi responded coolly, her attitude not nearly as enthusiastic as Qin Qiu.

It was clear that she was not targeting Lu Fan specifically; this might just be her personality.

Qin Qiu smiled and did not say much, just chatted casually with Lu Fan for a bit, then tentatively asked, “So… Lu Fan, I see you don’t seem to have found a team. Are you planning to take the exam alone? How about… you team up with us?”

After Qin Qiu finished speaking, Tao Zi beside her clearly looked surprised. She could not understand why Qin Qiu would invite a Dragon Tamer into their team.

What surprised her even more was that Lu Fan directly refused, “I’m sorry, I’d rather take the exam by myself. I don’t plan to team up with anyone.”

“Oh…” Qin Qiu got disappointed, but this was also within her expectations.

Given Lu Fan’s strength, anyone teaming up with him would be a burden.

As for why Qin Qiu would come forward wanting to team up with Lu Fan despite knowing this, even Qin Qiu herself could not clearly explain. She felt that if she proposed teaming up and Lu Fan agreed, she would for some reason be very happy.

It was a pity that things did not pan out.
