Chapter 52, Need to Make a Splash

Looking at Lu Fan again, Qin Shanhai could not help but feel admiration.

Qin Shanhai could tell that Lu Fan’s rejection of Jin Zhu was not just because he already had a Giant Dragon and disdained the Dragon Egg Jin Zhu offered. It might be because the idea of betraying Dragon Country was deemed too much for him that he ultimately rejected the offer.

Qin Shanhai had to admire Lu Fan’s dedication to Dragon Country.

“Your integrity truly makes me admire you…” Qin Shanhai said sincerely, “Just based on what you said earlier, I will do my best to protect you in regards to today’s matter. Those from Extremistis Country did deserve to be beaten. If you were to be punished, I’m afraid it would dishearten many of our own people in the future, right?”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “Then I have to thank you, City Lord.”

“Ha Ha!” Qin Shanhai laughed heartily, and continued, “You don’t need to keep calling me City Lord. It feels too formal. My Daughter said you two are friends, right? Although you’re not really classmates, you’re in the same batch of examinees. Why don’t you call me Uncle Qin instead?”

Lu Fan could tell the other party was trying to be amicable. Age-wise, the City Lord truly deserves to be called an ‘Uncle’.

Lu Fan nodded and smiled, “Alright, Uncle Qin.”

On the side, when Han Ke saw that Lu Fan had established a relationship with such an important figure as Qin Shanhai, she could not help feeling proud of him. However, she also knew that today’s incident could not be resolved just by just Qin Shanhai’s words alone.

She forced a smile and interjected, “City Lord Qin, how might Fan’er’s incident today be handled… The other party’s background is formidable, and they did get beaten up by him. I’m afraid if they insist on pursuing this matter, Fan’er might get punished. Fan’er is so capable, and the major exam is close. It’s a crucial time for him to change his life. If he gets caught up in this at this time, wouldn’t his whole life be ruined…”

Han Ke’s words made Qin Shanhai’s smile disappear. He nodded and solemnly said, “You’re right. The trouble Lu Fan had caused this time is indeed big. The other party is the Little Princess of Extremistis Country, after all. Her status is not for show. If it was just some other influential figure from our Jianghai City, I could mediate and downplay the whole thing. But this time, they might pressure my superiors to deal with this matter severely.”

Hearing this, Han Ke became anxious, “Ah? Then what should we do…”

City Lord Qin forced a smile and consoled, “You don’t need to worry. I understand the whole story, and know that the other party bears a lot of the responsibility. Lu Fan’s actions were reasonable. I can use this point to protect him as much as possible.”

After a pause, City Lord Qin looked at Lu Fan and said with weight in his words, “Of course, with my power alone, it would be difficult to suppress this matter completely. At most, I can only help you buy more time. To truly get more people to protect you, you need to prove yourself!”

Lu Fan thought for a moment. He understood what Qin Shanhai was saying, and asked, “Uncle Qin, you mean I must make huge splash in the major exam, right?”

“Exactly!” Seeing how smart Lu Fan was, Qin Shanhai nodded and smiled, “This incident will definitely alert my superiors, and those far above me. It involves Dragon Country and Extremistis Country, after all. If Extremistis Country demands an explanation, some will cave and suggest that you apologise and accept punishment. However, if you show enough potential, who would dare to force you to bow your head and admit fault? In the end, the major exam is key. It is your best opportunity to show others your potential. If you do, for the sake of getting your good graces, even offending Extremistis Country would not matter!”

Lu Fan nodded, indicating that he understood. [Seemed like this major exam is now not only the opportunity to change my life but also the only opportunity for me to live in peace.]

Qin Shanhai patted Lu Fan’s shoulder and earnestly said, “I won’t say more. Just remember that I will help you suppress this matter as much as possible. But you must perform well in the major exam!”

Afterwards, Qin Shanhai changed the topic and did not discuss this matter anymore.

Qin Shanhai expressed great interest in Xiao Ye, but Xiao Ye was very resistant to others. She was only willing to stay by Lu Fan’s side. Therefore, before Qin Shanhai left, he could not even touch one of Xiao Ye’s Dragon Scales. He had to finally leave, somewhat disappointed.

Throughout the entire conversation, Qin Shanhai did not ask any questions involving the Dragon Race, and their secrets. This made Lu Fan realise just how thoughtful and trustworthy Qin Shanhai was.

Qin Shanhai’s intention to win Lu Fan over was obvious, and Lu Fan did not reject it. In fact, when Lu Fan took action, he had anticipated the serious consequences of hitting the Little Princess of Extremistis Country.

Although he was not afraid, dealing with the aftermath properly would have indeed been troublesome.

Now, with Qin Shanhai’s help, things would be much simpler. He just needed to perform well in the major exam.

As for having a personal relationship with the City Lord, Lu Fan was no fool to reject. He would naturally cherish it well.
