Chapter 73, Rewards for Clearing the Major Exam

At the round table, the group of old principals had grown accustomed to being shocked. However, when they saw that the Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights were guarding the ninety-ninth floor, everyone was still greatly taken aback.

The Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights here were all Level 35 Nightmare Bosses. Although not as powerful as the original Bosses in Ruined Kingdom, their characteristics and Skills remained. It would be impossible for any candidate to pass.

Examinees like Hong Wu would probably be shattered by the Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights in one encounter.

“This year’s examination has really gone too far…” The principal of First Academy stroked his beard, unable to help speaking up for Lu Fan, “I now truly suspect that the examination setters knew no one could reach this floor of the Nightmare difficulty. So, they randomly arranged all the floors from the eightieth floor onwards. It was already horrendous that from the eighty-third floor onwards, all they had were Bosses. Now, we even have the Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights appearing. This is made impossible for any examinee to pass through.”

Bai Hengjian smiled and shook his head, saying, “Well, this year’s major exam was set by Old Han. Given Old Han’s personality, even if he knew no one could clear the later floors, he would still arrange them meticulously. So, although the questions we see are difficult, there must be a reason for it to be so difficult.”

Another principal nodded in agreement. “That’s right, Old Han is a veteran in the Education Board. It was expected that the exam he set for our South Province would be difficult, but even so, Old Han has always been insightful. Actually, thinking carefully, the arrangement of the previous floors was more than reasonable, whether it’s the fluctuation in difficulty, rhythm, or the problem-solving approaches needed for different floors. All of them are worth carefully studying.”

He paused, cleared his throat, and said, “It’s just that this student named Lu Fan cleared the floors too quickly and violently. So, Old Han’s clever designs could not be demonstrated.”

At this point, City Lord Qin also nodded and agreed, “I had also heard early on that this year’s exam for our South Province was set by Old Han, and they would definitely be the most difficult in all of Dragon Country. Now looking at it, it’s indeed so… still, I think arranging the Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights for the ninety-ninth floor is quite reasonable.”

“Hear me out everyone. We know that no matter how each floor is set, once cleared, there will be a Completion Reward. The last level of the Sky Scaling Tower, which is the final question, will definitely have the highest difficulty of the entire major exam. In previous years, many geniuses wanted this Completion Reward, so even if they were already at their limit, they would still go to the hundredth floor, hoping to clear it and get the Completion Reward. As a result, they all overestimated themselves and died in the major exam.”

Speaking of this, City Lord Qin sighed. “Think about it, when you’re just a bit away from getting the final reward of the major exam, who would be willing to obediently retreat at the hundredth floor? So later, they decided that when setting major exam questions, they would design the ninety-ninth floor to be like an iron plate. It would be made almost impossible to break through. The purpose is clear. To make examinees retreat when they see the difficulty. If they can’t even break through the ninety-ninth floor, they should not even think about fighting for their lives on the hundredth floor. It’s just to avoid more prodigies losing their lives for the Completion Reward.”

City Lord Qin’s words were strongly agreed upon by many.

Although the Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights were tough, this level only had four Bosses guarding it. If one really couldn’t break through, they could choose to retreat early.

However, the major exam Completion Reward mentioned by Qin Shanhai sparked interest in discussion among others.

The principal of First Academy excitedly looked around and was the first to ask, “Speaking of which, from what I’ve seen, it’s almost certain that this Dragon Tamer will clear the major exam. The Apocalyptic Headless Four Knights can’t stop him, and the final question on the hundredth floor probably won’t be a problem for him either. In that case, he might be the only examinee to clear the Nightmare difficulty of the major exam in the past decade or so. What do you think the major exam Secret Realm will bestow upon him as a reward for clearing the Nightmare difficulty?”

As soon as this was said, it received widespread response from everyone, and they all began discussing enthusiastically.

“If I remember correctly, apart from rewarding Experience Points and Attributes, clearing the Easy examination rewards one to two Bronze items, clearing the Normal examination rewards two to three Bronze items, including ]one Special Item.”

“The Difficult and Terror rewards the same number of items as the previous two difficulties, but the grade is increased to Silver. Following this pattern, clearing the Nightmare difficulty major exam should result in one to two Gold items, right?”

“Yes, you’re right. I remember the last genius who cleared the Nightmare difficulty major exam appeared over a decade ago. That year, he received two Gold equipment as a reward.”

“No, no, no, you said it yourself, that was over a decade ago. Now, the major exam content has been reformed, and this year our South Province’s major exam difficulty is the highest. The rewards definitely won’t be stingy. In my opinion, this Dragon Tamer’s reward will be at least three Gold items at the very least!”
