Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4244  Chilling With The Children

”Nothing vile. Just claiming whatʼs mine. Besides, I think you might be really happy in a few days.” Davis said with a mysterious expression.

”…”

Fairy Runalise frowned. She couldnʼt tell what he meant.

She only detected strange movements within the mini-realm, strange being that there were more activities when it was silent all this time. She could tell something was happening, but she didnʼt know what was happening.

She couldnʼt investigate more since she knew that she might be kicked out. She had to stay here.

In any case, she had her eye on the exit all this time, so if they went out, she would know.

”As long as you donʼt do evil, I will have fulfilled my mission of dealing with an Anarchic Divergent. It better be that way. Donʼt force me.”

Fairy Runalise closed her eyes and looked as though she had gone back to meditation but her soul sense was still active.

Davis was in it. He could feel the soft embrace of the soul sense. It was incomparably calm and non-disorienting. The way it encompassed the land was non-invasive, meaning it didnʼt go inside any structure except public ones like restaurants and inns. Even then, it didnʼt invade any room. He could tell she possessed immense control over her soul sense as it was incredibly stable.

Usually, using soul sense on others could be considered rude, but her soul was different. He guessed it had to do with her Ethereal Jade Soul Physique.

Davis simply smiled at her, thinking a Heavenʼs Warrior wasnʼt bad if they only shut up and kept watch like this, protecting the people. Instead, they just had to wave their swords against him and die for no reason.

ʼThey are stubborn and hardheaded in their ways to eradicate evil but are definitely not bad people… itʼs a pity…ʼ

Davis could only shake his head and descend.

”Waah!”

He suddenly moved his hands towards Viridia and Lucianʼs shoulders, his grip firm. But just before he caught them, he unleashed terrifying killing intent.

It caused Lucian to jump and let out a scream, but Viridiaʼs purple-golden pupils shrank. Her six spider bones that were retracted abruptly jutted out from her spine. Purplish-black sharp scythes extended from the hole through the purple robe, unfolding as the seven segments stretched and struck Davisʼs hand, intending to slice his wrist.

However, the six purplish-black scythes were unable to cut through.

Viridia quickly glanced back as she held her breath. Immortal Stage undulations soared into the skies, trying to push back against the vice grip. She was about to leap forward and counterattack when she saw it was her father, causing her to freeze before she relaxed, the undulations dying down.

Lucian also slowly turned. Only then did he realize his folly, his expression changing.

”…” The guards on the street raised their spears, but they froze as they saw who it was since they recognized him. How can they not? His statue was nearly everywhere near the temples.

”Lucian, you failed. Viridia, you passed.”

Davis let them go and smiled.

”Father~”

Viridia turned around and grinned. She reached out her hands to him, causing Davis to lift her up.

”Aiya, youʼre twelve years old but still like to be carried, my lovely Viridia?”

He complained but still lifted her up and smiled, causing Viridia to giggle. He gazed at her, his heart full of affection as she started to look a lot like Evelynn. Her hair was purplish-green. He adored her to death.

”Hmm!” Lucian glared at Davis, ”Do it again. This time, I wonʼt be caught off guard.”

”Donʼt be a sore loser. You died.”

Davis chuckled, causing Lucian to fume, ”Just wait and watch, Father. Iʼll show you how powerful I am tomorrow.”

”I am waiting.”

Davis grinned. Although Lucian was kind and a worrywart, he was no longer depressed about his situation. He was full of hope, and that made him start to be competitive.

”Come, Iʼll also carry you.”

”No thanks.” Lucianʼs expression reddened. It was unknown if it was the embarrassment of being lifted up or failing the test or both.

Davis and Viridia chuckled. They both knew the boys were no longer willing to be lifted up as though they had their own pride.

Nonetheless, Davis caught Lucianʼs hand and forcefully held it as he walked through the streets. They visited shops, and he bought them all they wanted. During the whole time, there were a lot of onlookers gathering, some even kowtowing from far off the street or grabbing the snow he walked on, which had Davis inwardly crying.

It seems like some of them really did worship him piously.

He thought his children would give them the side-eye, but they didnʼt seem unnerved. It was as though they thought it was a given, making him wonder just how big they thought him to be, but it clearly wasnʼt high enough that they eventually intended to challenge and win.

Fortunately, none of his children knew about his true prowess, so it would be fun for a while.

Eventually, Eterna and Celestia also joined.

Eterna didnʼt care that he had Viridia. She straight away jumped on him and had him piggyback. Celestia pouted, seeing there was no space, but Viridia gave up her seat and allowed her to be carried.

For a few hours, they had fun with their father as they explored the city.

The city was rapidly improving, so it always nearly changed looks every month. Even Eterna and Celestia found some things to be new.

Davis had no problem spending for them. Although the Treasury was nearly empty, it only indicated that they didnʼt have Empyrean Grade resources. For Immortal Emperor Grade and below, they still had a shit ton that they may not be able to spend it all normally. It was better for them to spend here and increase the cityʼs economy.

In fact, two new cities were popping up in the distance. Naturally, they also gained permission from the External Affairs Department. Otherwise, they wouldnʼt be admitted.

Bandits also appeared, but with Fairy Runalise here, it was significantly reduced. Hence, the city nearly never saw violence unless there was some kind of dispute involved from an economic viewpoint.

After they had fun, Davis returned to the mansion with the four of them.

There, he saw Aurelia and Sheria come out all blackened. He saw that it was soot from a failed alchemical experiment, causing all of them to laugh while Sheria and Aurelia fumed at them, threatening that they would not make pills for their siblings in the future if they continued laughing.

However, he was heartened that Aurelia and Sheria were learning Alchemy at their own volition. The sons were only interested in battle skills, but Aurelia and Sheria were different. They wanted to learn Alchemy and were learning under Dalilaʼs tutelage.

Although it was unknown how far they would go, it appeared as though their talent was good. They have nearly completed the Immortal Grade Herbology, which will be done soon, within this month or the next.

This meant that they already become Pill Grandmasters, capable of creating most Immortal Grade Pills.

After they had fun, Davis spent the night with them in the same room, allowing them to sleep before Niera walked in.

”Dear~”

Niera sat by his side and caressed Lucianʼs head softly as she watched him sleep.

”Donʼt worry. Everything will be fine tomorrow.”

He grabbed her other hand and comforted her, ”You did great taking care of Lucian for so long. It is time you also looked after yourself and left with your sisters.”

Niera smiled gently. She raised her hand from Lucian to Davisʼs cheek.

”Will you be fine?”

”I am always fine. You go have fun, vent nearly every frustration you have on those retarded geniuses.”

”Pff~”

Niera couldnʼt help but giggle before she hurriedly stopped to not awaken the children. Abruptly, Davis stood up.

”Letʼs talk elsewhere.”

He took her out, but her cheeks reddened, knowing that they werenʼt going to talk. She looked back and knew some of the children were secretly awake, including her son, so this was good. She hoped that they didnʼt know, but topics on sexual education were already taught, so she couldnʼt help but blush heavily all the way until she was bedded.

The next day, they stood on a coliseum-like structure built entirely to host competitions. The children had faced each other here numerous times. It was located a bit far away from the mansion, nearly a hundred thousand kilometers away.

Nearly everyone from the Davis Family was here. Even the allies were here.

They all had their eyes on one person in the center of the battle arena.

It was none other than Lucian.

He looked at the skies, his heart pounding as he saw the sun reach the highest point in the skies. From noon to the next twelve hours, he knew his Solar Physique was going to act up in the biggest, cruelest, and most destructive ways possible!
