Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4231  A Realm Shaken

Calypsea spoke with the Realm Core Spirit and managed to gain some information.

Apparently, the lifespan the Realm Core lost was equivalent to twice that of the previous iteration.

It left Davis shaken since it was too much.

Davis already knew the Realm Core lost about ten thousand years for a single bestowal. This was personally relayed by the Realm Core Spirit when it bestowed Stella with energy.

For Tinaʼs bestowal, it reported that the lifespan it lost was twice that, which meant it lost twenty thousand years.

For Epsila, the Realm Core Spirit reported that it lost thrice of that! This meant it lost about sixty thousand years.

For three uses, it has already lost about ninety thousand years!

But for a Realm Core with a maximum lifespan of a billion years, it was not even a single percent, so it was not something to worry about.

Moreover, its cooldown period was a month, but for it to not be affected by the exponential increase from the subsequent uses, he theorized it might need to be dormant or not use the same ability for over a year. He didnʼt know what the true cooldown period was, but he still imagined it would be around a year.

He wouldnʼt know until he tried.

But by the time the fourth, fifth, and sixth uses were made, the Realm Core wouldʼve lost nearly seven million years!

That was still not a single percent, but one must not forget that this realm has been active for hundreds of millions of years. It may not even have fifty percent of its lifespan left, considering how far the Stavenger Familyʼs line extended. The Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm was not a new Lower Realm, after all.

However, considering the Realm Core Spirit pleaded that it was not time for its death, he considered that it at least had seventy percent of its lifespan left, which translated to seven hundred million years.

Losing seven million years could indeed be considered losing one percent of its lifespan at the moment.

However, what would happen if he used this ability for the seventh time? What about the eighth time? What about the ninth time?

By the seventh time, it wouldʼve lost nearly fifty million years!

By the eighth time, it wouldʼve already lost four hundred million years. At that point, he felt like it would start to collapse and invite the Desolate Age!

By the ninth time, it was no different than committing suicide! The realm might instantly collapse and be consumed in apocalyptic flames, ending in a few years.

Therefore, Davis thought to stop at the sixth time. Any more, he would really be harming the Realm Core.

But this time around, the one who retrieved the energy bestowal wasnʼt a normal person. It was Mingzhi. She was a Divergent.

Because of that, from the fifth to sixth iteration, the increase rate jumped to two times.

In other words, the Realm Core lost twelve million years. Although it was too much, it still wasnʼt bad.

However, Mingzhi wasnʼt exactly high in the divergence category. For it to have doubled from the fifth iteration, he could only imagine what kind of exponential increase it would have for him.

If he were to use the Realm Coreʼs ability on himself, then he imagined he must do it in the first iteration after the true cooldown. Otherwise, he would be bringing down the Realm Core in one move.

Nonetheless, this wasnʼt even the most important information that Calypsea managed to gain.

”You say that it felt prickly all over its body after bestowing Mingzhi energy?”

”Yes, yes~”

Calypsea cutely nodded her head.

”…”

Davis could only wonder what the meaning of this kind of sensation to the Realm Core Spirit meant.

A while later, Tina returned. The gaze in her eyes didnʼt look good.

”This is bad. There have been reports of over twenty-six spacequakes appearing all over the realm. A strange river that was said to be a danger zone evaporated and dispersed into the air, killing all the wildlife there as they corroded inside out. Lightning storms in a region called the Skydusk Peaks appeared to experience dangerous arcs of lightning rain that devastated a few villages situated in the valley below. More are still coming through…”

”…”

Davis didnʼt look stunned. He merely sighed, ”It seems that a Realm Core really canʼt support a Divergent or face backlash from heaven and earth. I hoped it would not be the case, but…”

He couldnʼt help but heave another sigh.

”The causalities… might be in the millions, whether it is people or wildlife. Do you think Mingzhi will…?”

”Sheʼs a strong girl.” Davis shook his head, ”She will take it and try to make amends to the best of her ability. Besides, itʼs not her fault. If she didnʼt, another Divergent from our family wouldʼve, and it wouldʼve been all the same. Who knows? If I stepped up first, perhaps we wouldnʼt even have a realm anymore to feel guilty about.”

”…” Tina and the others could only nod.

It could be now said that they have truly caused a calamity to occur in the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm. They acknowledged it as their first mistake.

”In any case, the Heavenʼs Warriors are going to act as though theyʼre bees disturbed out of their hives. They will search for Divergents everywhere in this realm because all these happenings clearly arenʼt normal. Letʼs evacuate this place for the time being as well. Letʼs give the Realm Core back to Esmond.”

”What?” Tina looked confused, ”Wouldnʼt having the Realm Core be of more use if we were to engage in a battle with the Heavenʼs Warriors? Besides, giving it back might end the True Soul Contract.”

”Itʼs fine.” Davis shrugged with his hand, ”It wouldnʼt end since the rental period states ten thousand years. I will still be owning it but temporarily giving it back to the landlord. Whatʼs important is that the Heavenʼs Warriors would definitely come here again, and this time, it wouldnʼt end with mere words. Theyʼll likely try to secure this place.”

”But-”

”Esmond can retaliate against us if he wants to. Iʼm more worried about the Realm Core not holding up the realm after being pushed too far to aid us in battle. I imagine that it would have the same consequences as bestowing an Anarchic Divergent with an immense amount of energy, so it is better not to use it at all. In my opinion, we have pushed the Realm Core Spirit too far. It is too scared of Calypsea to say no. Moreover, Esmond isnʼt even comparable to one of the Venerable Knights in terms of strength. Iʼll also use this chance to completely remove him if he were to move against me. It works out in our favor.”

”…” Tina contemplated for a moment before she nodded, ”Alright.”

She understood losing this realm was far more detrimental to Davis since he was stuck here. If the realm began to die off, where would he go? Would the Covenant still consider that he was in the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm? It was hard to say, so it was not good to take any chances.

Tina left and began to cede control over to Esmond Stavenger.

Nightveil also returned, and she reported more calamities happening all over the realm. The magnitude of the calamities was greater around this time. There was even one case of a pathway to the Primeval Universe Ruins, an opening that sent out Vacuous Beasts. However, there were already powerful Heavenʼs Warriors in the realm, so it was unlikely it would cause any damage.

After an hour, Davis and the others left.

The only trace of them being here was Stellaʼs tiny mini-realm.

”Esmond Stavenger, you can choose to work with the Heavenʼs Warriors to hunt us down, or you can continue to abide by our True Soul Contract. After matters subside, we will return here in a year or sooner, so until then, I wish you good fortune.”

Esmond Stavenger watched the Divine Emperor of Death and the others leave as he held the master formation core, his expression stunned beyond compare. He had also completed rebinding the Realm Core, which gave off a phenomenon, but as usual, they had whitewashed this phenomenon with a different connotation.

Therefore, the people would not recognize it as the Light of Binding.

Still, he didnʼt know what exactly they did here, but it seemed like the calamities that appeared all over the realm were related to them?

Now, he was put in a truly difficult position. The Heavenʼs Warriors would demand more accountability from him since he was both the ruler and the protector of the realm.

If calamities occurred en masse, he would be answerable!

Should he join Heavenʼs Warrior or continue with the damned rental contract!?

”Fuck… I shouldʼve accepted that pill when I had the chance…” Esmond Stavenger struck his face with his hand and dragged it down.

If he had the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, then he could boldly make some choices instead of fretting to this degree.
