Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4243  The Little Oneʼs First Hurdle

”I did.”

Davis answered straight to her face, ”Youʼve already betrayed me once, not that I blame you since youʼre still a Heavenʼs Warrior. I blame myself for trusting you.”

”Thatʼs right.” Fairy Runalise coldly spoke, ”I will do it again if you stray and do evil. Your children are of little concern to be bothered about them.”

”Who knows?” Davis had a mocking expression on his face, ”I heard Heavenʼs Warriors nip the bud of Divergent children quite early, not caring if theyʼre children or even babies.”

”I wonʼt refute that, but your children are innocent, except that one…”

Fairy Runalise turned her head and looked down on a crimson-white-robed boy.

He was none other than Lucian.

”Yeah. For fortune or misfortune, he was born with a divergent physique. Itʼs not surprising you managed to sense it, but if you do kill him, you will die. Not only will you be dying, but this entire city will also be razed to the grounds by your folly.”

”So it is indeed the Solar Apocalypse Physique.”

Fairy Runalise nodded as though she had seen through it.

Davisʼs lips curled, ”You know… heʼs the kindest of all my sons and empathetic enough to understand what suffering means. Watch him closely and see how easily he suppresses the burst of the Solar Apocalypse Physique.”

His voice was filled with pride.

”…” Fairy Runalise paused, ”If he can do that, he would be a menace the Heavenʼs Warriors would need to kill no matter what. However, I doubt he could suppress it when thereʼs a Lunar Eclipse. Thereʼs actually one tomorrow, isnʼt that right?”

”Ah, the time when the Lunar Reverence is the most shy, allowing the Solar Reverence to reign supreme.”

Davis sighed.

In the true immortal world, the celestial light from the Solar Reverence and the Lunar Reverence determined the eclipses, and there was no set date for it. No one knew how the reverences moved. While they traced their trajectory in the skies, it didnʼt matter where they were astronomically since it was said their rays of light automatically adjusted their intensity in accordance with the landscape.

This didnʼt apply to all celestial bodies, as this was an occurrence in the realms. This was also the reason why all the Realms were seen as living spaces rich with heaven and earth energy. As long as they donʼt go live in a danger zone or highly elemental space, they can live normally without experiencing blazing hot or freezing cold temperatures, even for immortals.

Still, there were signs that allowed people to learn when the eclipses would occur.

Mystic Diviners were capable of divining it when the day approached closer, and there were a lot of other mystical signs too.

It was said that it was a Winter Lunar Eclipse, meaning this winter wouldnʼt be as cool as usual. This made it so that Lucian wouldnʼt face the full brunt of the Solar Reverence either, which gave Davis all the more confidence that Lucian would endure successfully.

”You can put it that way. If he fails to endure, I will put him down. We may die together.”

”If youʼre thinking he will go berserk and harm the people, then we are there as his parents to stop him. Donʼt be foolish and attack him. You will just be wasting your life and condemning my enemies or even innocents to even more suffering as they will face my wrath.”

”…”

Fairy Runalise didnʼt respond. She was as cold as ever.

”Donʼt worry, Legion Master. If this foolish Heavenʼs Warrior makes a move against your children, I will make sure she doesnʼt even see the light of the next second.”

Davis looked to the side and saw Threelotus.

Her face was covered by a white veil, but he could tell he was smiling brightly at him.

Davis couldnʼt help but smile as he reached out his hand and patted her head, ”You are doing a great job watching her, Threelotus. Excellent work.”

”Hehe~”

Threelotus lowered her head as though asking for more pats as she giggled lightly.

Davis looked at her and wondered how she was faring nowadays. He knew she had a huge crush on him, but he just couldnʼt see her in that way. It wasnʼt that she was lacking, but he already saw her more like a little sister. He felt if Threelotus wanted to pursue him so badly, then she must break that image that he had of her.

Fairy Runalise saw them openly talking, but she didnʼt care. She kept her eye on the boy and saw that he was listening to a story from a man called Master Dahu. Back then, she had thought he was brainwashed by the Divine Emperor of Death, but she learned that she was wrong.

Master Dahu sat under a tree, and he had an audience full of children, even teenagers and adults. They listened to him recite stories.

Viridia and Lucian were also there. They looked curious as they heard the elderly man recite the story with a funny expression on his face.

”Once upon a time, high above the realms, there lived a gentle and radiant goddess named Luna. She was the queen of the night, and her silver light shone over the land, encompassing the world in a peaceful glow. Whenever she stepped out of her home, winter arrived, light turned soft and white, sprinkling the land with frost and snowflakes, bringing a season of quiet beauty to all.”

Master Dahu grinned as he waved his hands, creating a multitude of silhouettes using soul force to display to the people.

”The people of the realms adored Luna. They danced under her radiant light, whispered their wishes to the stars, and watched as she painted the rivers with shimmering light. Winter was her gift, and she loved nothing more than to watch the world wrapped in a blanket of silver.”

Abruptly, the calm light in the projection abruptly began shining with a bright radiance.

”But there was another celestial being in the heavens—Solan, the golden king of the skies. He ruled the day with warmth and brilliance, painting the world in dazzling light and vibrant colors. Though he and Luna lived in separate realms, he admired her gentle glow from afar.”

”One fateful winter night, as Luna was casting her cold light across the land, Solan decided to visit. He stepped into her world, his golden radiance lighting up the sky. Luna saw him and gasped. She was not used to such warmth, such brilliance! Her heart fluttered, and a deep shyness washed over her.”

”Oh, dear,” Master Dahu imitated a womanʼs voice as he whispered, ”He is so bright and bold! I—I cannot let him see a cold being like me!”

He turned around and appeared as though running away while remaining at the same place, causing the others to laugh.

He stopped and continued, ”And so, in a flurry of silver light, she hid behind the shadows of the sky, her glow fading away. The land that had been bathed in her moonlight suddenly brightened, casting the world into a mysterious twilight with a golden glow.”

The people below looked up and gasped as they saw the projection change into a bright world.

Even Viridian and Lucian were quite enchanted with the story as they listened closely.

”It is the Winter Lunar Eclipse!” Master Dahu cried out, ”Luna has hidden away! But that is not the end.”

”Solan chuckled gently as he saw her hide. He did not wish to frighten her, for he knew that Luna was soft and kind, unlike his bold and blazing self. So, he whispered into the sky, ʼThe prettiest shadow in the skies, do not hide. I only wished to see the beauty of your winter glowʼ.”

”But Luna remained hidden, her silver light peeking out shyly from behind the celestial veil. For a while, the land remained in twilight, neither fully bright nor fully dark—a magical moment where the sun and moon shared the sky.”

”Then, slowly, as Solan stepped back into his own world, Luna peeked out once more, her glow returning in a soft and gentle shimmer. The realms sighed in relief, and the night continued in its cold grace. Will Luna and Solan meet again? That— is for the next season!”

”Woaahh~”

”Ahh! I want more!”

”Master Dahu, tell us more!”

The crowd was riled up, but Master Dahu smugly waved his hand, brushing them off.

Lucian took a deep breath. He turned to look at his sister.

”Looking at how Solan was easygoing and caring, I think he doesnʼt want to harm me. I feel much more at ease right now.”

”Yeah, donʼt worry. Everything will be alright tomorrow.” Viridia smiled as she patted him on his back.

They grinned and walked away, exploring the city as they pleased.

”Interesting…”

Davis couldnʼt help but nod after hearing that story.

It seems like the people here were also slowly learning about the True Immortal World. He imagined these stories came from the Golden Crow Clan that had been in the Golden Crow Lower Realm temporarily before they were rescued, so it made sense they knew of such a story. Sheaʼs marriage was held here, after all.

During that time, the Golden Crow Clan engaged in cultural exchange with the people here.

Nonetheless, as he saw that it eased his sonʼs worry, he felt relief.

”I donʼt think heʼll ever fail, though.”

Davis turned to look at Fairy Runalise in a provoking manner.

She opened her gleaming white eyes and stared at him, ”For a few days now, I sensed strange movements within this mini-realm. Just what are you planning?”

”…” Davisʼs lips curled slowly.
