Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4223  Manipulating Space

Nearly fifteen minutes later, after Fairy Runalise entered the guest palace and spoke to the Venerable Hollow Knight, she walked out of it with her bosoms heaving with rage.

She turned to look at the skies and saw the Venerable Hollow Knight leaving. He didnʼt bid her farewell, but that wasnʼt the point. She clearly told him that she wasnʼt interested in him, and after that, his whole demeanor changed as he started questioning her what she was doing, taking leave for personal reasons instead of fighting to the death.

He declared that she was incompetent and a waste of resources.

It made her fume with wrath, but she could only keep her face cool and warm while speaking to a senior with extreme achievements. Not only that. She also needed his help. She needed him to figure out why she did some things in a roundabout manner and investigate her actions. However, it seemed like it failed.

”Fairy Runalise…”

Elder Nonek had just called out to her when she turned and glared at him, causing him to hold his breath and glance down, not daring to meet her gaze.

”You must value your life, so go tell him that he escaped today, but it wonʼt be like that forever. If he doesnʼt like it, tell him to kill me and be done with it.”

Fairy Runalise said her piece before she flew and went to her accommodation in the Quake Fist Sect.

Elder Nonek could only scratch his head.

He did as he was told and saw the Divine Emperor of Death waiting near the entrance to the mini-realm. He was seated calmly and opened his eyes when he arrived.

”Whatʼs this? Youʼre not the Venerable Hollow Knight in disguise, are you?”

”No way. I am not and cannot become the Venerable Hollow Knight in a billion years!”

Elder Nonek claimed before he relayed what Fairy Runalise said. He also spoke about how he saw the Venerable Hollow Knight come out with an irritated look on his face before he flew away without saying a word to Fairy Runalise.

He theorized that they could have some altercation for some reason.

”Really?” Davis raised his brows.

”This… Iʼm not sure. Forgive me.”

Elder Nonek bowed his head all the way down as though he was apologizing so that he may be spared from all these events that happened today. He feared he might be leveled along with the entire Quake Fist Sect if a battle happened between them.

”Good work. I know a few guest palaces would have some mechanism to spy on people. Itʼs mostly present in empires, so I donʼt know if it is present in your sect, but investigate it and bring me whatever you find. If it is to my liking, youʼll be rewarded in kind.”

Elder Nonek hesitated before he nodded, ”Iʼll try my best.”

Davis nodded, and Elder Nonek left.

However, Davis didnʼt return to the mini-realm. He maintained his guard and waited for the Venerable Hollow Knight to arrive. He did this for half a day before Elder Nonek returned, but this time, he was also with Elder Ramus.

”Divine Emperor of Death, it was as you said.” Elder Ramus reported, ”Although the guest palaces donʼt have any spying mechanism, it is made from a peculiar spatial ore that records the distortion in space, and through that distortion, it is possible to rewind the sounds that it collected. Therefore, we dug the floor where they sat and brought it with us. Our comprehension is not high enough to invoke the ore, so please forgive us.”

”Oh?”

Davis looked intrigued before he raised his hand.

Elder Ramus then gave the flooring to Davis.

It was a pile of sand at this point, but the surface was well preserved, causing Davis to nod at them.

”Watch closely. This is called the Distanibium Ore, and this ore passively absorbs spatial fluctuations and imprints them within its crystalline structure. This makes it a short-term medium for storing spatial disturbances, including sound vibrations that ripple through space. It allows for the retrieval of past sound waves by capturing spatial echo. However, due to its hardness, it will not store information older than two days.”

He then closed his eyes and covered the layer of fine sand-like grains. Spatial energy soared from his body and sank into these grains, invoking their resonant frequency.

Instantly, these sands started giving off weird noises, but as Davis waved his hands and flicked his fingers, these grains moved within. It was as though he was filtering and bringing out the intelligible sound from the background disturbances that are present in space all the time around.

In his mind, he visualized the spatial echoes and reconstructed them into one whole mechanism as though he were playing a piano.

When it clicked like he was playing the last chord, he clenched his fist and held the sand together.

”- No need to be embarrassed-”

Davis frowned as he heard a manʼs voice. Thinking he was at the middle or the end, he turned a little bit back by twisting his fist and arrived at the part where the Venerable Hollow Knight and Fairy Runalise were tasting tea.

”…”

However, Elder Nonek and Elder Ramus were shocked beyond compare as they witnessed his spatial manipulation.

How was it possible for a mere junior to manipulate space to the minute level!?

Even their own Grand Elders canʼt replicate this feat! That was why this ore was used to construct the most exquisite palaces in the sect!

Nonetheless, Davis erected a sound barrier around him so Elder Nonek and Elder Ramus couldnʼt hear anymore.

However, they could see the Divine Emperor of Death suddenly burst into laughter. He smashed his fists on his thighs for a while before he wiped his tears off and gave the sand back to them.

”That was great. I didnʼt think Heavenʼs Warriors could be like that. What a find…”

Davis waved his hands and gestured for them to leave. However, he suddenly remembered.

”Wait, I did say that I will reward you in kind. Let me think for a few days. Iʼll send you both some rewards thatʼll let you step into the Autarch Stage.”

”…!”

Elder Nonek and Elder Ramus trembled heavily. They were stuck at Level Nine Sovereign for a long time, so had their chance finally come?

Soon, Elder None and Elder Ramus thanked Davis profusely before they left. They decided to eagerly await the rewards.

On the other hand, Davisʼs lips curled into a wicked smile before he stood up.

”It seems like I truly wonʼt be facing the Heavenʼs Warriors today.”
