Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4160  Scarlet Ember Pavilion

Davis didnʼt react. He simply kept the same languid smile on his face as though he couldnʼt be bothered with it.

The scarred man became much more respectable, cupping his hands, ”My name is Gorolt. Iʼm the leader of the Scarlet Ember Pavilion, a Level Nine Sovereign. Iʼm considered powerful in these lands, comparable to an utmost genius but not enough to enter the ranks of supreme genius. My wish is to one day step into that realm.”

Gorolt looked up and appeared full of hope. However, he kept his composure and cupped his hands again.

”May I know which major power youʼre from?”

”Youʼre not worthy.” Davisʼs lips curled into an arrogant smile.

”…”

The others didnʼt react with hostile emotions. Instead, they looked at Davis with even more admiration. He was the kind of personification of the level of strength and arrogance they hoped to reach one day in their dreams.

Besides, they knew not to mess with a supreme genius as their background was far more powerful. Even if they were childish and spoiled, their power was nothing to be laughed at. They also got a screw loose in their heads, thinking that they could do anything.

It was all the more the case if this supreme genius came from an Upper Realm.

Recently, they knew supreme geniuses descended in droves to hunt down the Divine Emperor of Death, so they werenʼt surprised to see a supreme genius here. The Divine Emperor of Death also listed this realm as a possible realm he might be in, so they were recently seeing an influx of geniuses and supreme geniuses.

And it must be told these supreme geniuses werenʼt silent. They made all kinds of trouble with their sheer arrogance that reached the heavens.

One supreme genius was said to be from the Celestial Shadow Sect. He obliterated the Dragon Fang Pavilion just because a junior blocked his path during a procession in the streets. That supreme genius unleashed a single black-gold blade. It was said to have cleaved through the entire procession of Sovereigns without a shred of resistance.

It appeared to have even gravely injured their Pavilion Master, who was a weak Level One Autarch. It had been his four hundred thousandth birthday. He later died from his injuries in two days.

There was another supreme genius, a woman from a major power called the Flameheart Autarch Sect. It was said she wanted to test the defenses of the Scarlet Azure Monastery, which was known for its renowned meditation grounds that allowed people to calm themselves even from Heart Demons.

However, the moment she swept the land with her flaming spear, she shattered the defensive formation famed for its defense. It even caused half of the monastery to burn, the land near it turning into rubble.

”Pathetic~” Was apparently what she muttered before walking away without a shred of remorse.

Another supreme genius from the Abyssal Radiance Empire simply decided to declare himself as the lord of Defiant Fortress, a neutral ground used by rogue cultivators and mercenaries. He was said to have simply released his soul force, causing everyone to faint. Many also seemed to have died after fainting, unable to withstand the supreme geniusʼs powerful soul force.

The supreme genius didnʼt leave. He announced it was his domain and had the people there search for the Divine Emperor of Death, using them without a single care for retribution.

Then, there was a case of a group of supreme geniuses who decided to hunt magical beasts within the Forest of Ageless Spring, a sacred ground protected by the Whispering Wildlands Realm Master himself. They did not just kill the beasts but also ignited the forest in a massive inferno, wiping out the flora and fauna.

Their justification?

”The Whispering Wildlands Realm Master was way too much of a poser not to pay respects to us, so we have no choice but to send our regards in this humble way.”

The people of the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm simply didnʼt know how to feel about these supreme geniuses.

Should they praise them for showing the major powers of the Lower Realms who were above who? After all, these powers were also known to strut their influence around. Or should they condemn the supreme geniuses for their willful actions?

They didnʼt do anything.

Why? Because they feared the supreme geniuses and their backgrounds.

They looked at Davis in a similar light, not wanting to offend him.

However, remembering the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs face from a lot of wanted posters, they saw he vaguely resembled him.

Still, they didnʼt think he was the Divine Emperor of Death.

Such a being wouldnʼt walk out openly, after all.

They invited him into the pavilion. It was cozy despite its bloody appearance. They tried to entertain him with drinks and women. However, he declined.

Instead, Davis was more curious about the other supreme geniuses while waiting for Arys Duskbane, so they all told him about those four incidents that happened recently.

He could only laugh at their actions. One of them even wanted to use people to find him? Davis wanted to visit him personally and put him on the same level as Aric Stormsong.

That Thundering Serenity Upper Realmʼs supreme genius couldnʼt be any deader than dead.

Davis couldnʼt imagine the number of supreme geniuses who descended.

There were sixteen Upper Realms and their rulers but they alone werenʼt the ones who could produce supreme geniuses. There were also hundreds of powers capable of doing the same. After all, an Upper Realm was just too big. Myria even said all forty-eight Lower Realms couldnʼt compare to a single Upper Realm in terms of land mass or water bodies.

Each Upper Realm was unfathomably big, containing a huge amount of power. They may produce one or a few supreme geniuses in varying generations. After all, becoming a supreme genius wasnʼt easy. They needed tons of resources, and only powers like the Upper Realm rulers were capable of producing a lot for nearly every generation.

However, this only applied to Kingly Sovereigns.

A Heavenly Sovereign has a base prowess of six levels higher. A Kingly Sovereign has a prowess of seven levels higher, and an Empyreal Sovereign has a base prowess of eight or more levels higher. It was just like the Heavenly Monarch system but one level lower for Sovereigns.

Therefore, supreme geniuses like a Heavenly Sovereign popped up every generation for all kinds of major powers. As for Empyreal Sovereigns, they were even rarer. They were scarce in the Upper Realms but could be seen a lot in the Greater Realms, where their ambitions were plenty. However, it was only hearsay, so no one knew how many supreme geniuses were there.

The last competition held for supreme geniuses to determine the strongest in the Upper Realms was held around four hundred and thirty years ago. It was said that over four hundred thousand supreme geniuses registered for it, but only eighty percent showed up. After all, it was difficult to traverse realms.

Still, it was said that there could be plenty more supreme geniuses who werenʼt interested in this competition and wanted to go to Upper Realms. Considering the population in all the Upper Realms was considered to be more than a quintillion at any point in time, Davis could admit that even if there were a million supreme geniuses, it was still a really low number. It wasnʼt even 0.000000001 percent of the total population in the Upper Realms.

It was a really pathetic number for the human race, but that was why supreme geniuses were nearly worshiped everywhere they went and catered to like they were their ancestor. It was a status that no one could hope to obtain in a lifetime just by the numbers alone.
