Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4190  Ieshaʼs Pregnancy

”Iesha…”

As Davis came closer, he called out to her in a gentle voice, causing her already smiling face to become even more beautiful.

Iesha brought her icy-blue hands up as she gazed at him with her beautiful white eyes. Her silvery hair with a bit of blue strands rose as though indicating her emotions were high on happiness. With a spirit crown on her head, she truly appeared like a snow fairy who waited for him endless years in the snow, melting Davisʼs heart.

He appeared in front of her and grabbed her hands. It was cold yet spread warmth in his heart.

”Dear~ Itʼs time…”

Iesha brought his hands towards her swollen belly. The moment Davis touched her soft stomach, there was a visible ripple inside, causing him to be momentarily taken aback as he held his breath. That ripple faded away, appearing to have gone completely silent before a strand of extraordinarily weak soul force barely seeped out from Ieshaʼs stomach and made contact with him.

”Father…?”

Davis stood stunned as he heard a soft and cute voice.

He couldnʼt tell if it was a girl or a boy, but that wasnʼt the point. He knew this would happen as it was a hot topic right now, even though it was about an icy spirit fey baby, but when faced with this situation where his child was able to talk while still in the womb, he was truly speechless. Nonetheless, as a master of the soul, he wasnʼt shook. He traced back the strand of nascent soul sense and entered a strange, icy white space.

He was nothing but a wisp here because the first thing he did was completely withdraw his power at the moment so as not to harm the baby. He could also sense Ieshaʼs soul force was ever present in this region. It was constantly nourishing this space.

He traced the line of nourishment and spotted a light blue forcefield that appeared like a cradle. Within it was a tiny soul that had its eyes closed.

Davisʼs heart swelled with innumerable emotions as he looked at the tiny baby. It appeared to be comfortable within the cradle, but it was directly facing him, smiling ever so lightly.

”Are you my father…? You should be… I can sense it… we have… same spiritline…”

The child talked slowly. It didnʼt seem to be able to see him but feel him.

”I am… I am indeed your father…” Davis uttered with amazement. He found that he lacked words to speak right now, not knowing what to say.

”Ohh~ Thatʼs wonderful~ I have my father… and mother with me. I hope I will be loved… mother said I have many siblings…”

”Of-of course.” Davis came out of his reverie, wondering what Iesha had said to this child, ”Why wouldnʼt I? My child, I swear to love you even if you become sick of it. You are my child. Iesha and my child. We will love you wholeheartedly. Donʼt worry.”

He felt like he missed this childʼs entire childhood and hurriedly comforted it.

”Mhm~” The baby spirit hummed as though nodding, ”I will come out soon… Since Iʼm not a true spirit… mother said, I will have no recollection of what happened here… but please stay with me… father… I love you…”

”I will be there to pick you up and smother you with love. I promise.”

Davis uttered with an emotional voice. If he had a body right now, he would be tearing up.

”Mhm~ I love father… but Iʼm tired… Iʼm sleepy…”

”Sleep well, my child.”

Davis wanted to touch the child with his soul sense, but he knew not to. He only watched it fall asleep as it retracted its nascent soul sense before he also left the soul space.

As he opened his eyes, Iesha touched his face and wiped the tear with a gentle smile on her face.

”Did you talk with your child?”

”Hmm.” Davis nodded, ”The little wisp was so fragile yet precious. I was scared the entire time, afraid I would harm it.”

”You would never.” Iesha smiled sweetly, ”Besides, our child is a human-spirit fey, which means the placenta exists, and it would protect it from all harm, even exiling you, the father, if you wanted to harm it, but of course, the placenta canʼt protect the baby from external injuries.”

”True. I read it was the case for most human-spirit babies.” Natalya nodded, ”I heard that spirit babies actually split off from their mother like theyʼre diffusing. But now that itʼs a human-spirit baby, Iesha would have to give birth the same way we humans do.”

”Dear~” Iesha looked scared a bit.

”Donʼt worry. Nothing will happen. Nothing will go wrong during the delivery, and you donʼt need to worry about dying, either. I will never let you die.”

Davis hurriedly comforted her.

A female spiritʼs life was truly perilous. After they give birth, the chances of them dying only increase by many times. It differed for various spirits, but for an Emperor Grade Spirit like Iesha, it was already dangerous.

However, he had mastered many life arts. How could he let his Iesha die?

He spoke confidently, causing Iesha to let go of her fears and smile.

He then asked about what and all she said to the baby as he didnʼt want to miss out.

Iesha said that she only poured the baby with love and care, repeatedly telling her that she loves her, and due to spirits being able to comprehend Sky Word Language even at the nascent level, their baby was able to talk after some tries during the initial days, which was apparently the final term of the pregnancy.

It could be understood that the babyʼs soul was almost fully developed when Iesha neared her final term.

However, the baby only seemed to be able to hold a conversation for a few dozen seconds every half a day before it got all tired and went to sleep. On the other hand, a true spirit baby appeared to be able to hold on for longer, although it didnʼt last more than five minutes. At the same time, they will remember the contents of their speech.

On the other hand, a human-spirit fey wouldnʼt remember what had happened as their nascent soul would undergo a change upon birth. The spirits claimed that it was because of the impurity of the human soul fusing with the spirit soul.

Regardless, both Davis and Iesha didnʼt care. They were full of love for their child and wanted the child to be delivered safely.

He sat with Iesha, catching up with her as he spoke to her for hours.

Fortunately, spirits didnʼt seem to be affected by pregnancy as much as humans did. They didnʼt experience much nausea, weakness, or pain. To female spirits, pregnancy was more like painless cell division. Sometimes, they might even be capable of asexual reproduction like Stellaʼs mother did. The requirements varied for each spirit race, and it also introduced greater chances of dying for the mother, so it wasnʼt recommended for any spirits to follow this path.

Iesha might experience some pain due to carrying a human child. After all, she would give birth through the canal.

Nonetheless, Davis constantly reassured her that nothing would happen.
