Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3352 Malevolent Darkness Soulʼs True Nature

Saintess Lunaria appeared interested when she learned that even three of Davisʼs wives had this physique, causing her to incline her head with amusement.

”This is not a soul physique thatʼs rare. Most who get it end up having corrupt souls and eventually die from being killed by other people because of going insane, so most people who tend to get it hide it and eventually come to tame it. Itʼs rare in the fact that itʼs left unresearched because of its elusory ability to fuel negative thoughts in the soul. After all, those who look into it also get affected by negative thoughts.”

”Is that it? Thereʼs nothing else?”

Davis asked while holding his breath.

He knew the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique only increased perception towards Darkness Laws and granted the ability to use Darkness Laws even if someone was training in Light Laws from the beginning. Other than that, it fueled negative thoughts in their souls that corrupted them.

However, his father, Evelynn, Sophie, and Mingzhi were all able to gain control over their Malevolent Darkness Soul Physiques and make them tamer, preventing it from affecting them much.

Davis feared that it might overcome them one day, so he still wanted to know its real nature.

”Of course, there is more to it than it meets the eye.”

Saintess Lunaria giggled, ”If you want to know more about it, first you must understand its nature, but before that, I want to know when and how they got their soul physiques. Although this physique isnʼt rare, itʼs rare to see more in a group unless you specifically search for the owners of that soul physique.”

Davis watched her lips curl, knowing she was a highly curious person, and since she knew about Fallen Heaven, he didnʼt hide it.

”…”

Saintess Lunariaʼs brows raised in shock while Lea blinked, wondering what they conversed about using soul transmission.

ʼSo he almost died, and the divergence in the bubble of fate caused the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique to appear in four of his family members to allow them to seek revenge for him. Truly a way to bring more tragedy to the surroundings of an Anarchic Divergent…ʼ

Saintess Lunaria understood this was most likely because of Fallen Heaven.

When Divergents are caught in big waves, it was true they could even stop it and change the direction of the waves, so when an apex treasure like the Grimoire of Fate was involved, she knew the direction could affect certain people.

She knew that the Grimoire of Fate, whose name she didnʼt even know, was dangerous, so she didnʼt bother keeping it and threw it away. She felt she was right in her decision as she saw how Davis and the people surrounding him changed because of it.

His surroundings were in a constant state of change, which wasnʼt good at all. If she had it, she knew she wouldnʼt have been able to survive for this long, which only made her feel more interested in how he was still surviving.

”To understand the nature of the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique, you must first understand that it is only a byproduct of oneʼs soul.”

”A byproduct…?” Davis thought for a moment with a frown before he raised his brows.

”You mean the monster in all of us?”

”Indeed.”

Saintess Lunaria looked pleasantly surprised that he knew about such a thing when people were mostly wallowing in righteousness, believing they were all for justice.

”There is not a single person in the world who is anything but pure and untainted by darkness. The masses regard me as such, but I donʼt think that way at all, so even I am not completely free of being suddenly afflicted with the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique.”

”What…?”

”The Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique isnʼt actually a true physique. In concept, it is similar to the state of mind but deeper since it comes from the very depths of your soul essence. As long as one practices light, darkness could invade their beliefs, so this state is said to occur to those who train their souls using light-attribute manuals.”

”So it is a manifestation of the darkness in oneʼs soul?”

”Yes. It mostly occurs when one abandons the value they place on life from the very depths of their soul, wanting to just destroy everything for that single moment, but even then, it would be very difficult for that darkness state to manifest. However, four of your family members experienced this when you almost died, so it could be seen how important you were to them that they wished to destroy everything at that moment.”

”…”

Davisʼs gaze shook.

Of course, Davis knew Fallen Heavenʼs passive ability amplified the occurrence of the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique, but still, to think that even his father thought like that at that moment other than his wives, he was moved.

Evelynn went on to massacre an entire region, and if Sophie hadnʼt been held by Niera, she mightʼve done something crazy as well. His father and Mingzhi couldʼve been the same, but fortunately, he was saved by Shirley before much could transpire.

If he had been any late, perhaps their Malevolent Darkness Souls couldʼve overwhelmed them.

”I understand. Then whatʼs the remedy for this state?”

”Remedy?”

Saintess Lunaria shook her head, ”I apologize. It is not curable as it stems from their own souls. It is a part of them until they enter the reincarnation cycle or perhaps, you might be able to cure them one day with your reincarnation powers.”

ƈοm

Davisʼs expression turned wry.
His reincarnation energy didnʼt work like life energy. If he used his reincarnation energy on them, he might cause their souls to cease to exist instead.

”However, the darkness factor is its own world. For example, there is a person who made a physique out of that darkness factor, and you can reach out to them to know more, and perhaps, you would be able to come up with a solution.”

Davisʼs gaze flashed, ”Is that a High Elder from the Recruitment Department?”

He remembered his fatherʼs master.

”You mean High Elder Lavea Jenn?”

Saintess Lunaria couldnʼt help but smile, ”Indeed, she is a Divergent who has successfully converted her darkness factor to create a mutated darkness-lightning physique, but Iʼm not talking about her. Iʼm talking about her masterʼs husband, Guardian Elysian Veritas, who successfully created the Twilight Illuminator Soul Physique from his darkness factor that allowed him to use light and darkness at the same time and even combine them, further allowing him to fuse them and give birth to Twilight Laws.”

”…!”

Davis raised his brows in shock.

Twilight Laws?

He knew Myria, and he could use light and darkness at the same time, even use it together with separate hands, but they certainly hadnʼt reached a level where they could combine or fuse it- no, he knew he couldnʼt fuse it or risk a dissonance at the root of the soul just like the entire universe could not use life and death except Myria and him.

Even the World Master was incapable of that, as she admitted that she couldnʼt create a reincarnation cycle and had to borrow it from the Three-Layered Universe.

However, Guardian Elysian Veritas became capable of fusing light and darkness, a feat that was not any rare than fusing ice and fire.

Lea was also hearing these with utter interest as her expression behind her veil remained stupefied. Her eyes gleamed with a thirst for knowledge as she listened to her husband exchange words with the Saintess of the legends.

”Is that the reason for his Divergence?”

”That would be the case.”

Saintess Lunaria perfunctorily nodded, ”Creating a mutated physique out of the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique would mean youʼre actively going against the laws of the universe as the darkness factor itself is meant to consume you, or at least, that was what Guardian Elysian Veritas and I have came to conclude. In addition to what I said before, the Malevolent Darkness Physique is uncharted territory and cannot be researched fully as it branches into many mutated physiques or simply madness, but you need not worry as long as the Malevolent Darkness Physique is under control.”

”…”

With Saintess Lunaria giving her final answer, Davis leaned back and exhaled, thinking about what to do with his father, Evelynn, Sophie, and Mingzhi.

In fact, Mingzhi was already a bit skilled in using light and darkness energies separately, so he guessed that she could follow a route similar to that of Guardian Elysian Veritas.

On the other hand, his father was already learning from High Elder Lavea Jenn, so he guessed that he would take a route similar to hers.

Besides, High Elder Lavea Jenn, with whom his father entered a master-disciple relationship, was a disciple of Guardian Zera Nullheart, who is the wife of Guardian Elysian Veritas.

He wondered if he was family with those two Guardians now, causing him to shake his head wryly.

Nonetheless, for Evelynn, he knew that Wisteria, the darkness spirit, had been feeding on her Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique for quite some time. He didnʼt know what else was possible for her, but as for Sophie, he had no idea.

She practiced Fire Laws and Yang Laws to forge better, so he simply didnʼt know how she would go about incorporating the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique into her cultivation system.

If he needed more answers, then he must go seek Guardian Elysian Veritas, who probably also helped High Elder Lavea Jenn overcome and mutate her Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique.
