Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3351 Having A Chat Over Tea

Calypsea excitedly danced around with Everlight in her hand.

She blipped around, each step blooming into an apocalyptic lotus of flames as she left a trail of world-ending flames in Saintess Lunariaʼs garden.

”…”

This made Davis momentarily freeze, but looking at Calypsea, keeping the flames at bay to their shape and then allowing it to recede like it was a natural phenomenon, he could tell that she almost had full control of her energy.

Turning to look at Lea, he saw her nod.

”More than bonding, I first wanted her to practice controlling her energy for my safety lest she accidentally burns my soul while bonding.”

”Thatʼs a given.”

Davis smiled as though it was a matter of course, ”Your safety is of the utmost importance, and I donʼt doubt the decisions you make while being here.”

”Understood. Also, Calypseaʼs appetite is big. Weʼre running out of destructive Fire Essence, and even the Fire Essence Orb you gave me is going to deplete at the current rate sheʼs absorbing them.”

Lea felt heartened. However, she didnʼt forget to inform him.

Davis blinked.

Werenʼt those resources supposed to last at least for three or four months? Did Lea use a time chamber here?

”Are you using them as treats for Calypsea when she crosses milestones set by you?”

”Yes, you said that you wonʼt question my decisions while Iʼm here.”

”Alright, alright. You got me.”

Leaʼs lips curled, causing Davis to shake his head smilingly.

”Well, I would get more, but you should also ration the remaining destructive fire attribute resources, get Calypsea to conserve energy, and hold back her hunger. Otherwise, you might be devoured by her when you run out of treats.”

”Ai~ Thatʼs something I could see happening.”

”Really?” Davisʼs brows raised in shock.

”Just kidding~”

Lea giggled, causing Davis to part his lips as he didnʼt think Lea enjoyed her time here and wanted to come back. Now, it seems like he was worried for nothing.

ʼWell, this is such a peaceful land teeming with life aura… who wouldnʼt want to live here?ʼ

Davis turned to look at Saintess Lunaria, who was still on the cliff. She drank something from the cup, sipping and enjoying the scene like she was on vacation.

Perhaps this life aura permeating the air was what made the innately destructive Calypsea calmer and stable by the day. If it was the case, he couldnʼt help but feel more grateful to Saintess Lunaria.

Regardless, he had repaid enough and was willing to share no longer unless something else happened, although he didnʼt think such a thing would arrive as he was feared and respected enough not to be messed with.

He jumped and returned to the tea table while Lea also followed suit before she paid respects by cupping her hands and bowing.

”Be seated.”

Saintess Lunaria poured a few drinks, but it was the same tea she was drinking, except once Davis and Lea had a sip, they felt it rejuvenated their souls and gave them utter focus to concentrate on anything they sought to seek.

”Saintess Lunaria, are you still of the mind to ascend?”

”Of course.”

Saintess Lunariaʼs melodious voice was firm, ”If you are worried about me, then you are underestimating me.”

”I never underestimated your grand self.” Davis shook his head, ”I know even if not for your own prowess, you will have the other Guardians or even your disciples who have ascended to protect you. Surely, at least one or two of them wouldʼve become Empyreans and made a name for themselves.”

”I sure hope they did~”

Saintess Lunaria giggled, appearing amused.

”Masters protect their disciples, but this time around, it would be the other way around. Life is a cycle. If I had been hostile towards you, you mightʼve lost so many things. Hence, you repay me enough to make yourself suffer in the process. I can still give you back the gift if you want, as it is not too late.”

”Itʼs yours already.”

Davis smiled politely, but Saintess Lunaria still looked serious, with her emerald eyes still locked onto him. Eventually, her gaze fell elsewhere.

”Then what do you have in mind by hoping to ask if I am still of the mind to ascend?”

”Oh, nothing. I was just curious if the Frostcloud Sword Empress is still alive. If she is, one of my wives would be happy.”

”…”

Saintess Lunaria blinked, ”Do you not expect to be protected by the Frostcloud Sword Empress?”

”Oh, I do expect to be protected by the Frostcloud Sword Empress. Itʼs just… Neither Tanya nor I would be shameless enough to seek protection from her. Instead, I was curious to learn why Saintess Lunaria thinks there are better chances of survival in the true immortal world rather than staying in the First Haven World.”

”…”

Saintess Lunaria narrowed her eyes at him, not understanding his meaning.

She imagined that he would use the gift earlier to gain some benefits from her, even if it was in the form of being protected after ascension, but he said that he wasnʼt interested and instead asked why she would decide to ascend and asked about her chances of survival, which honestly didnʼt make her understand his actions.

After all, the eyes that he looked at her were definitely not those of a man who was charmed by her appearance or achievements. Even without Heart Intent, she had seen far too many gazes of those types not to be able to see through them.

Meanwhile, Davis was only curious about why she wanted to leave.

Even if Saintess Lunaria didnʼt know that she was the daughter of the World Master, it didnʼt make sense for her to leave this stable and safe sanctuary so soon.

Perhaps she was bored as she seemed to make jokes constantly to pass the time, but now, his intentions seem to have been doubted.

Nonetheless, an opportunity to talk was in front of him, so he had to take it. He had many questions, but there was one he never had time to research fully as it was left unexplored in many records, and even Myria havenʼt fully deciphered except that it causes oneʼs mind to corrupt if they continue to add darkness to the soul.

”Saintess Lunaria, do you know about the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique?”

”I do.” Saintess Lunaria nodded lightly and seemed to reposition herself as she said comfortably, ”If I recall correctly, your father has this physique, right?”

Davis wasnʼt surprised to hear that as Saintess Lunaria did indeed heal his fatherʼs soul that was karmically infected by the Accursed Warlock. He nodded but shook his head.

”Not only my father but three of my wives, Evelynn, Sophie, and Mingzhi, also have been affected by it. What do you make of this physique, and are there any unforeseeable harm because of it?”
