Chapter 853, Meat Never Eaten Before

Translator: Silavin

Yan Hua and Sha Lan were both holding recurve bows, constantly aiming at the Land Birds in the sky.

That was right, they had received orders to shoot down several of these Land Birds from the sky.

“Look quickly, there are the most birds over there. Let’s catch the Land Birds from that side.” Yan Hua pointed at the upper left of the sky.

Yan Hua was incredibly happy right now, constantly holding the recurve bow and aiming at positions in the sky.

“Alright, I’ll catch the ones on this side. There are also very many birds on this side.” Sha Lan also aimed at another direction.

Sha Lan’s cat tail kept swishing. She closed one eye, preparing to hunt down a whole lot.

*Flutter flutter…*

“I’ll be responsible for helping you drive them.” Ai’er kept flapping her wings, flying towards the sky.

“I’ll come too.” Cheng Shi also flapped his wings and flew up.

The two of them were exactly like children who had seen new toys, extremely happy.

“Don’t scare them into scattering.” Yan Hua shouted.

Yan Hua had already aimed properly, but unexpectedly they had driven them away.

“Ah! Then I’ll catch them in the sky.” Cheng Shi changed tactics, taking up the recurve bow and aiming at the Land Birds.

“Let’s see who catches more.” Ai’er began getting lively.

*Chirp chirp chirp…*

*Flutter flutter…*

The Land Birds kept chirping. Their short wings also beat powerfully. All the birds stayed very densely packed together.

Just like a mass of densely dark great black net, making people feel somewhat oppressed.

“I refuse to believe I can’t catch a single one!” Yan Hua closed one eye and released her first arrow.

*Whoosh!*

*Chirp!*

A sound of tearing through the air rang out. Yan Hua’s arrow shot forth accordingly. A miserable cry rang out.

One Land Bird slowly fell to the ground, the arrow having precisely pierced its neck.

“Yay! The first one is mine!” Yan Hua jumped up happily.

Yan Hua had wanted to shoot down the first one, and moreover this one she had shot down was very large.

*Chirp!*

“I got the second one.” Sha Lan also lowered her recurve bow.

Previously when Land Birds flew over Flame Dragon Tribe, they had never thought about shooting these birds down to eat.

There was no other reason than because they did not have the weapons to shoot down these birds.

Before Su Bai had come to the Flame Dragon Tribe, there had been no such weapon as bows and arrows here.

It was not that they hadn’t tried using stones to smash down Land Birds, or using spears to throw them down.

But how high could stones be thrown? Even if spears were thrown very high, there was no way to very precisely stab down Land Birds.

Therefore, every year at this time, they could only watch helplessly as these Land Birds flew away.

This flying delicacy was something they could not eat. At first they would still feel a bit envious.

But gradually over time they also slowly gave up the notion of trying to capture Land Birds.

So, when Su Bai said they would capture some Land Birds to try their taste, everyone was extremely shocked.

They all felt it was impossible. But immediately they thought of how the Tribe now had bows and arrows.

Instantly everyone became happy. They each took up weapons and came to the plaza, preparing to shoot these Land Birds.

“I wonder what these Land Birds taste like?” Ai’er asked curiously.

She examined these Land Birds up close, discovering that they were large and plump.

Although she had seen quite a few birds before, this was the first time seeing birds this plump.

These Land Birds were three to four times the size of ordinary birds. However, their only flaw was that their wings truly were too short.

Their size was about the same as eagles on Earth, but the size of their wings was like chickens on Earth.

One could imagine why they had never flown into the sky, and could also imagine that after they flew into the sky, they would also die from lack of stamina.

“The Shaman said these Land Birds’ taste will definitely be good. He said these Land Birds run on the ground year-round, so their meat is definitely very firm.” Sha Lan relayed his exact words.

She also had not eaten Land Birds, but after hearing Su Bai’s description, she could tell this type of bird’s taste definitely wouldn’t disappoint

“If that’s the case, then I must catch more.” Ai’er took up the recurve bow and continued hunting birds.

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh…*

*Chirp chirp chirp…*

For a time, the sound of arrows tearing through the sky continuously rang out. The birds’ cries also continuously rang out.

This scene rather had the feeling of Hou Yi shooting the suns. As arrow after arrow was released, plump Land Birds also gradually fell.

As for those Warriors without recurve bows, they were below continuously picking up those fallen Land Birds.

A large Animal Hide had also been laid on the ground, already piled with fallen Land Birds.

For a time, this scene attracted people from throughout the Tribe to come watch. They all felt it was extremely miraculous.

Because every year Land Birds always flew over the Tribe’s sky. Originally they had never been able to catch them, but now so many Land Birds had suddenly accumulated on the ground.

They all dared not approach too closely, all beginning to whisper amongst themselves outside the plaza.

“The Shaman is amazing. I didn’t expect he could actually use the new weapon to shoot down these birds.”

“It seems we followed the right Shaman. We can finally try the taste of Land Birds.”

“You’re thinking far too much. These Land Birds won’t be our turn to taste.”

“Exactly. No matter what, the Warriors get priority. We just need to watch the excitement.”

“However it must be said, those Warriors’ accuracy is truly amazing. Almost every shot can bring down a bird.”

“Of course. Don’t you see their training situation every day? If it were me, I couldn’t bear it.”

“Exactly, exactly. I’d probably drop dead from exhaustion after just one day.”

“…”

Discussions like these continuously rang out amongst the crowd. This didn’t affect Yan Hua and the others shooting down Land Birds at all.

Still as the tearing sounds rang out, those Land Birds would still gradually fall. The Animal Hide was soon piled high with Land Birds.

As Warriors picked up these Land Birds, they would also count the number of Land Birds on the side.

Yan Hua and the others wouldn’t casually stop. They planned to wait until these Land Birds had finished flying past before stopping.

After all, having thought about this for so many years without realising it, now that they finally had the opportunity, they definitely had to properly seize the chance.

As they thought about how tonight they could eat this meat they had never eaten before, everyone became especially motivated.

Half an hour passed. The Land Birds flying in the sky also gradually decreased. Soon there was not a single one left.

Yan Hua and the others had just finished hunting enough Land Birds. After roughly counting, there were over 500.

“Alright, let’s quickly return and report to the Shaman.” Sha Lan put away her weapon.

“Alright.” Yan Hua also nodded.
