I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 778, Even If You Want to Go, You Must Heal Your Injuries First

Su Bai stood up from the stool, his expression especially serious as he said, “I’ll say it again, as long as you’re willing to work.”

Before making this promise to the young girl, he definitely had to emphasize this point. The Flame Dragon Tribe did not support idle people.

These people had to be willing to work before he would provide them with food and a place to live.

He could not recruit a batch of people, only to have them unwilling to do anything, then clamour every day for food. Then, if he did not provide food, these people would cause trouble, saying things like it was agreed upon beforehand.

He did not want to recruit a group of time bombs. He had to clarify things properly.

“As long as it’s not excessively demanding work, they’ll definitely be willing to do it.” Qin leaned her body forward.

She did not know why he kept emphasizing this point, so she had to make things clear first.

For instance, treating people as slaves, or not treating people as Humans, or some Tribes would use people as punching bags for Warriors to practice on, and so forth.

Qin naturally wanted the Tribe members to live better, but she also did not want to push them into a pit of fire.

“Don’t worry, we’re not making them slaves. These are all proper jobs, roughly the same as the work our current Tribe members do.” Su Bai said with clear enunciation.

Seeing the young girl suddenly say this, he naturally knew she had thought of other things.

After all, in this era, once people from other Tribes were taken in by another Tribe, the work they engaged in was mostly slave labour.

“If that’s the case, then I’m willing to join your Flame Dragon Tribe.” Qin said without hesitation.

She was now extraordinarily excited, thinking that the Tribe members would finally no longer have to suffer.

“Our Shaman is extremely kind and definitely won’t deceive you. As long as you follow our Flame Dragon Tribe, your future lives will be much better than now.” Yu Ying immediately added.

Yu Ying was especially happy at this moment, because during the previous period she had constantly seen Su Bai extremely troubled.

The reason was still the insufficient labour force in the Tribe. Much work was difficult to carry out due to lack of manpower, or progress was relatively slow.

“You said you have how many people in total?” Su Bai wanted to confirm again.

“We have over 170 people in total.” Qin said.

Su Bai’s black eyebrows raised slightly as he continued asking, “How many Totem Warriors are there? How many Warrior Trainees? And how many elderly, children, women, or adult men?”

Before accepting this batch of people, he definitely had to clarify the composition of this group.

This way he could arrange future work. If there were mostly elderly, then this acceptance would be disadvantageous to the Tribe.

The elderly were already advanced in years and could not do physical labour. If doing handicrafts, their eyesight, hands, and feet were not as nimble.

They could only do sweeping work, but there were already enough people sweeping the streets of the Tribe. If more people were added, there would be overemployment in this field.

“The number of Totem Warriors aren’t many, only four, and they’re all female Totem Warriors. There are only three Warrior Trainees.”

Her voice grew less confident as she spoke, the volume getting smaller as she lowered her head and continued murmuring, “But, most of our remaining people are adult men. As for women, there are over forty, a dozen children, and no elderly.”

This composition was indeed somewhat unfavourable, because the most important Totem Warriors were not numerous.

Even the Warrior Trainees were not many. This was why the young girl spoke without confidence.

Because many Tribes, upon hearing these details, were unwilling to accept them.

“Very good. Although the number of Totem Warriors aren’t many, you have quite a lot of adult men, which is advantageous.” Su Bai said with satisfaction.

Most importantly, there were no elderly. This was one of the reasons he was most satisfied. The absence of elderly was probably because they had wandered for too long, and these weak and frail individuals had long become meals for Ferocious Beasts.

Totem Warriors were secondary. Although Totem Warriors were very important to a Tribe…

However, as long as there were enough adult men, with the Flame Dragon Tribe’s current capability to cultivate Warriors, they could cultivate quite a few Totem Warriors or Warrior Trainees at next year’s Totem Awakening Ceremony.

“Really? You’re really willing to accept this group of us?” Qin instantly had hope again.

Originally she thought when she stated the composition of her people, he would refuse.

Unexpectedly, he accepted, which was still somewhat beyond her expectations.

“Of course. I wonder where this group of yours is located now?” Su Bai continued asking.

“Not far from your Tribe. Walking from here takes about two days.” Qin recalled.

If it weren’t for the dangers encountered in the forest, she wouldn’t be in such a wretched state now.

“I can release you now. Do you want to rest a bit, or depart immediately to bring them back? Either is fine.” Su Bai said gently.

However, he still very much hoped she would rest a bit, because her injuries were truly too severe.

“I want to leave immediately. The sooner I can bring them back, the better.” Qin said without hesitation.

“Do you think they’ll follow you?” Su Bai didn’t need to guess to already know her answer.

“They’ll definitely be willing. Being able to let them stop roaming outside, plus giving them food and a place to live, they’ll definitely be willing.” Qin stated this answer without even thinking.

“I hope it’s true as you say.” Su Bai nodded thoughtfully, turning to instruct, “Release her.”

“Shaman, directly releasing her like this, won’t it be too dangerous?” Yan Jiao worried.

Su Bai gently shook his head, asking, “No, I trust her. You also trust me, correct?”

“Yes.” Yan Jiao had his subordinates remove the iron chains.

*Clink clink*

A series of iron chain sounds rang out as the chains on her body and hands were all removed.

She could not quite stand steady and immediately knelt on the ground again, her breathing becoming somewhat faint.

“In this condition, you still think about your Tribe members.” Su Bai slowly walked over.

“Shaman…” Yan Jiao was about to say something when he was interrupted.

Su Bai slowly raised his hand, signalling he needn’t say anything, then walked to Qin’s side and crouched down.

He extended both hands, casting his Healing Skill. A green light instantly emanated from his palms.

The Healing Skill’s light gently enveloped Qin’s entire body, and the wounds on her body also healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

“Even if you want to go, you must heal your injuries first.” Su Bai smiled slightly.

Qin was stunned, her scarlet eyes slowly rising to look at him, momentarily unable to speak.
