I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 762, Burning the Forest?

Translator: Silavin

At dawn the next day, the Sun slowly rose into the sky. Golden rays illuminated the earth.

The originally lush forest surface was also wrapped in a layer of gold. Looking out across it was extraordinarily beautiful.

Ye Jiu and the others stood right before the Wood Cicada Tribe. Each of them had shed considerable sweat.

Last night, they formulated their plan and immediately struck. The entire process had been particularly smooth and flowing.

From locating where the Warriors lived to burying the explosive packages, the timing had been well coordinated. When igniting the explosive packages, there had not been the slightest hesitation either.

During the night, explosion sounds had rung out continuously. The firelight was extraordinarily dazzling, instantly dyeing half the sky red.

Those explosion sounds had caused the roaming animals inside the Tribe to scurry about everywhere. In an instant, the pitch-black sky became almost like daylight.

“As expected, it didn’t take much time.” Yan Hua looked at the wooden houses still burning ahead.

These wooden houses had been burning continuously from midnight last night until now. The dazzling firelight also made people feel very hot. After all, it was the height of summer. The primitive forest was exceptionally stuffy and hot. Moreover, everyone was standing right before the great fire.

“It’s just a pity about those innocent people inside the Tribe.” Sha Lan swished her cat tail.

Sha Lan observed the expanse of ashes seriously. There was truly an indescribable feeling. She thought that if they were not ruthless enough, the Flame Dragon Tribe would be in this state right now.

She convinced herself that there was nothing wrong with it. They were in this era, where such actions were unavoidable. This era was full of warfare. Whoever was stronger could survive. That was how it worked in this Primitive Era.

“This is unavoidable. We can only see if we’ll have a way to transport them back later.”

Ye Jiu blinked her cold grey eyes and continued. “Otherwise, we can only let them be buried together with those Warriors.”

The wolf eared girl felt fine about these matters. She just thought it was somewhat regrettable. After all, these were all very good labourers.

*Awoo, awoo…* Two Tailed Grey Wolf howled loudly. Its grey eyes were also filled with killing intent.

When last night’s surprise attack plan began, Two Tailed Grey Wolf had been on standby, around the Wood Cicada Tribe the entire time.

This was also Ye Jiu’s instruction: to target those Warriors who managed to escape luckily in the surrounding area.

Two Tailed Grey Wolf could still distinguish which were Warriors and which were ordinary people.

*Screech!* The Peak Eagle also called out. The clear eagle cry sounded particularly crisp in the dawn.

It had also received Yan Hua’s command, using its sharp eyes to observe the entire Tribe’s surroundings from high altitude.

Its purpose was also to see whether anyone from the Wood Cicada Tribe had escaped, as well as to observe the entire Tribe’s situation.

“However, last night not a single person managed to run out. In the end, the explosive packages’ power was simply too strong.” Ai’er sighed with emotion.

The explosive packages they had brought out this time all had tremendous power, more than twice as strong as the explosive packages first developed.

These were specially improved versions that Co Co had researched. The Tribe was currently mass-producing them.

“Isn’t that the truth? Moreover, we buried so many explosive packages down there.” Bai Si kept watching that expanse of ruins.

Last night, she had used her recurve bow to shoot and kill several Warriors, because those Warriors had all charged out from the sea of fire.

Perhaps it was their last moments before death, those Warriors had activated their Totem Power and charged towards them.

Bai Si had been assigned to observe everything from a tree. When those Warriors charged out of the sea of fire, she had immediately detected something wrong.

She swiftly grabbed her recurve bow and aimed at them. In just a few moves, she had dealt with these frenzied Warriors.

“Once these fires die down a bit, we’ll eat something and then set out.” Mai Mang steadied his breathing.

He kept touching his large belly. Clearing things up had expended considerable effort.

Because when the explosive packages exploded, they ignited those wooden houses, as well as some dried tree branches in the surrounding area.

When those sparks touched these decaying tree branches, they instantly ignited these dead branches.

The flames spread particularly quickly. Before long, a large area had caught fire.

When they received this mission, they had heard Su Bai instruct them that they absolutely must not start a forest fire.

When using explosive packages, they had to pay attention to the surrounding fire situation. They only needed to destroy the Tribe. They shouldn’t implicate the forest.

Originally, this Tribe was meant to be destroyed anyway. But the forest was different. The forest could nurture many lives.

Moreover, in such a large expanse of forest, if a forest fire truly occurred, it would burn for a very long time.

If the forest fire wasn’t stopped in time, the blaze would continue spreading outward in all directions from the centre of the fire. By then, countless lives in the forest would die in this great fire. Innocent Tribes in the surrounding area would also suffer disaster.

Similar incidents had occurred back on Earth as well. The world’s largest rainforest had caught fire.

The burning duration had lasted for an extremely, extremely long time. All the people could do was pray that this great fire would extinguish itself. Because it had already reached a point where Humans couldn’t extinguish it, they could only trust in their own good fortune.

Su Bai definitely didn’t want to start a forest fire in this era. He still relied on this great forest.

It was also tremendously helpful for his farming plan. That was why he had instructed them about this aspect before they departed on their mission.

“Anyway, the fire is still quite big. Should we go hunt some prey and bring it back to roast and eat?” Yan Hua asked.

She felt she had not even properly stretched her muscles and bones yet. Last night, a few explosive packages had destroyed this Tribe.

Yan Hua had originally wanted to display her skills, but unexpectedly could only watch from the sidelines.

“I also think we should save the compressed military rations. After all, we still have many days ahead, and we don’t know if we’ll have time later.” Sha Lan nodded.

“Yes, anyway, waiting for the fire to die down is still waiting. We can go hunting.” Ye Jiu agreed.

To be honest, she was also a bit hungry. Her heart began missing eating the Tribe’s delicious food.

The past two days when they were travelling, they hadn’t had time to hunt. Everything they ate had been compressed military rations.

Of course, the taste of compressed military rations definitely wasn’t as good as eating fresh food directly. However, those flavours were still better than the food they had eaten previously. At least the seasonings inside were relatively abundant.

“By the way, where’s our next target?” Ai’er asked curiously.

The butterfly girl wanted to quickly finish this mission and properly return to the Tribe for a good meal.

“The next target is only a day’s distance from here, so we need to reorganise properly tonight.” Ye Jiu instructed.

As soon as this was mentioned, everyone became serious. They weren’t feeling proud at all because of the recent victory.
