I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 766, Common Knowledge of Daily Life

In the forest not far from the Flame Dragon Tribe’s entrance, over two hundred people were currently working diligently.

They were all clearing those trees and weeds, preparing for the upcoming road construction.

Simultaneously, on the other side of the Tribe’s entrance, people were making grass ash cement.

Not only that, but others were working on some crushed stone, preparing to lay it on the ground together with the grass ash cement.

Su Bai had come over early in the morning to look. Seeing everyone’s work efficiency, he nodded with satisfaction.

He was currently in the living room of the Yong’an Building, preparing to continue with the next stage of planning.

“Shaman, this rain season we should be able to respond very well,” Yu Ying immediately said.

Of course, they had also responded quite appropriately during the last rain season, without any errors whatsoever.

“This rainy season, I want to make all the Tribe’s people entirely free from worry about clothing and food,” Su Bai smiled.

Although no one had gone hungry during the last rain season, the food that could be distributed at that time was very limited. After all, the Tribe’s population was still rather large. At that time, they did not yet have hot air balloons, so the Hunting Team faced difficulty transporting food.

The Tribe’s food sources all relied entirely on food exchanged from the Spotted Deer Tribe. Beyond that, there was only the Hunting Team, which could only return once every several days.

“Shaman, I believe we can certainly achieve this. The food stored in the cellar is already very abundant,” Yu Ying said earnestly.

Yu Ying would go to the cellar every few days to look, checking the situation of the food stored inside.

Although she had heard that food stored in cellars could be preserved for a very long time, this was her first time facing this situation.

As for whether the cellar could truly preserve food for a very long time remained to be seen. She could only go and see for herself.

“What food is currently stored in the cellar?” Su Bai asked curiously.

“The cellar has stored many tomatoes, cabbage, dried meat…” Yu Ying kept blinking her pink eyes.

She was constantly trying to recall what was in the cellar. It could be said to be extremely varied.

“It seems there are many things stored inside. I shall go and see for myself,” Su Bai smiled.

Since the cellar was dug until now, he had not personally gone to see it. He happened to be thinking of going to look this time.

“Yes, there are truly many things placed inside,” Yu Ying immediately said.

*Step step step…*

The two left the Yong’an Building and began walking towards the cellar’s direction.

Over half an hour later, they boarded a carriage and arrived at the cellar’s location. The cellar’s position was to the left of the Tribe.

The Tribe’s left side also had many wooden houses. However, this side was mostly used as various storage rooms.

For example, the place where weapons were kept, the place where hunting prey was kept upon return, and so forth. In any case, anything requiring storage was all placed on the Tribe’s left side.

The Tribe’s right side was the large Central Market. That side focused on supplying other Tribes who came to exchange things.

The middle of the Tribe was the residential area, along with some places where food gathered. Of course, residential areas existed on both the left and right sides of the Tribe as well.

“Shaman, mind the steps,” Yu Ying said with concern.

The cellar had a specially cleared area where an entrance had been dug. That entrance was particularly large, about two metres in both length and width, with a long staircase descending to the bottom.

Naturally, things were also placed on top of the cellar, but the things placed there were very light, not heavy.

Because they also worried that if excessively heavy things were placed, it might cause the cellar to collapse.

The sound of footsteps continued.

Totem Warriors entered the cellar first. The reason for doing this was primarily to eliminate dangers ahead.

Su Bai followed closely behind and walked in. Before he entered, the Warriors had already lit the torches on both sides.

Orange-red flames bloomed one by one. The originally dim cellar instantly became bright.

The situation inside the cellar could suddenly be seen clearly. When this cellar was dug, it had not been specially organised.

That is to say, the surroundings were all still earth construction. However, the cellar inside was stacked full of things.

Although it was stacked full of things, it appeared not at all chaotic. On the contrary, it even seemed somewhat organised.

That was to say, meat was placed where meat should be placed, vegetables were placed in a specific location. Each item was arranged very neatly.

This seemed as if it had truly been arranged carefully. Very obviously, it must have been done by Yu Ying. Only she would be so meticulous.

“Shaman, I separated the places where meat is kept from the vegetables. This way, the two flavours will not mix together.” Yu Ying pointed to her masterwork and continued, “In the middle, I used wine jars to separate them, along with these preserved foods.”

For example, brewed wine, preserved food, as well as salt transported back from the Sea Fish Tribe. All these things were placed neatly and orderly in various locations.

The space occupied was not particularly large, because they were all stacked up item by item.

The passageway left in the middle was also very spacious. This was to ensure that in future, when things needed to be moved out, pushcarts would have a passageway through which they could pass.

“Everything has been planned well. At first, I thought it would be chaotic,” Su Bai nodded with satisfaction.

Initially, he had not held much expectation. Originally, the people here did not know what a cellar was either.

As long as they could place all the things in the cellar, that would already be considered good. He had not expected them to be able to organise these things so neatly.

But now it was surprisingly good. Even people who did not understand could find things at a glance upon entering.

“Because at that time, I thought that if others needed to come and fetch things in future, they might search for a very long time.”

Yu Ying paused, then continued. “In the end, I might still have to do it myself. Rather than such trouble, it would be better to do the work properly from the start.”

“That’s the right way to think. Recently, you have been doing things more and more rigorously. You’ve improved a lot.” Su Bai rubbed the other’s head.

He put both hands behind his back and began walking around the spacious cellar. What do you know, this cellar had truly been dug very large.

He could also see much wheat stacked to one side. Moreover, even the wheat’s moisture prevention work had been done well.

That is to say, the wheat was first placed in Animal Hide Bags, then several wooden boards were placed on the ground. After that, a layer of dry grass was laid on the wooden boards.

Finally, the bagged wheat was placed on top. This way, the earth’s moisture could not damage the wheat.

“This is all what the Shaman taught me. Otherwise, I would know nothing,” Yu Ying immediately shook her head.

Back when they still lived in wooden houses, Su Bai had taught this knowledge.

For example, at that time there were dried meat, sweet potatoes and such. They could not possibly be placed directly on the ground, so this knowledge came about.
