I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 751, The Same Reason

Translator: Silavin

A spacious clearing had been carved out in the middle of the dense forest, and quite a few wooden houses had been constructed in this area.

This was also where a Tribe had come from. The location of this Tribe was rather awkward, with dense trees completely surrounding it.

This Tribe stood out incongruously in the dense forest, a Tribe that had appeared out of nowhere to begin with.

Added to the contrast it formed with its surroundings, that sense of disparity between high and low instantly emerged.

This Tribe was called the Poison Moth Tribe, and it was also a Tribe subordinate to the Dark Scorpion Tribe.

This Tribe had not existed for very long, roughly just these past two years, so the Tribe was not large either.

Looking around, there were only about twenty wooden houses, with the rest being Animal Hide Teepees of various sizes.

Although the Tribe was not very large, around the perimeter of this Tribe, row upon row of wooden walls had been erected.

Clearly, this Tribe was worried about invasions from Ferocious Beasts in the forest, so they would rather have fewer wooden houses and still erect the wooden walls around them.

People within the Tribe were constantly busy with various tasks: some processing Animal Hides, some tidying the Tribe’s environment, and others training Totem Warriors.

In short, this Small Tribe appeared quite proper. If it were not for seeing the dense trees all around, everyone would truly think this Tribe was developing quite well.

“Hurry up, all of you. While there’s still some time before the rainy season, we must make the Tribe better.” the Tribe’s Chieftain urged.

The Poison Moth’s Chieftain was called Zhen. He was quite tall as well, his height reaching directly about two metres, though this was nothing unusual.

As a Totem Warrior, having such height was very normal. Most Totem Warriors were around 1.8 metres tall.

Of course, this referred to males. Female heights were more normal, though there were exceptions.

“Chieftain, when will the people above send someone to help us?” A Totem Warrior asked curiously.

Because when they had been assigned to manage this Tribe, the Dark Scorpion Tribe had said they would frequently send people to support this Tribe’s development. But since Zhen had taken over this Tribe, people from the Dark Scorpion Tribe had only sent someone once. Moreover, those people had not stayed very long. They had only stayed for a day before going to other Tribes.

The pleasant-sounding claim was that they came to guide the Tribe’s development, but they had eaten quite a lot of meat in the Tribe at that time before leaving.

Yet they had not said anything at all, only roughly said some encouraging words, but who wanted to hear these high-sounding platitudes?

“Let’s wait a bit longer. Sooner or later, someone will come. In any case, as long as we persist, it will be fine,” Zhen encouraged.

He was actually a Peak Early-Stage Totem Warrior. To break through and become a Mid-Stage Totem Warrior would still require some time.

Originally, when the Dark Scorpion Tribe selected subordinates to take over other Tribes, they would choose Mid-Stage Totem Warriors, but there were not that many Warriors of this level.

So some Tribes could only select relatively outstanding Early-Stage Totem Warriors to go. Of course, the Tribes those people went to were certainly also more remote and without much future.

It was also possible that the people of the Dark Scorpion Tribe simply had not thought of this Tribe at all. Sometimes when they occasionally remembered, having intelligence personnel go to console them was enough.

Every time Zhen heard others asking about matters above, he was completely helpless, because he was not certain whether the people above would actually send someone.

They had already waited for quite a long time. Logically speaking, the snow season had also passed for quite a while. If those above truly intended to send someone, they should have arrived long ago.

“But so much time has already passed. If those above really wanted to send someone, they should have come long ago,” a Totem Warrior said half-believingly.

“Could it be that the people above have already forgotten that our Tribe even exists?” Another Totem Warrior’s eyes widened.

“After all, our Tribe’s location is not very good. Even if they forgot, it would be normal. But what should we do?” A Totem Warrior was exceptionally worried.

Because this Tribe originally was not meant to be kept. It was truly too far from the other Tribes.

Each time they needed to exchange things, it was very impractical. They could only rely entirely on themselves.

“Don’t give up on yourselves. Our Tribe will definitely get better.” Zhen said, feeling somewhat uncertain even as he spoke.

He had no idea whether the people above still remembered him. He had even formulated a plan.

That was, if the people above did not come before the snow season arrived, he would abandon this place.

After all, continuing to persist in this barren land had no great significance. It would be better to go and join other Tribes.

With his strength, joining other Tribes would very likely result in being valued.

Even if he did not become the Chieftain, it did not matter, as long as that Tribe’s environment was not too poor.

“Chieftain, do you yourself believe it? Don’t you also look at distant places every day?” a Totem Warrior said with an unconcerned expression.

Not only the Tribe’s Warriors, but even the Tribe’s Chieftain was the same, looking at the open spaces every day, wondering whether someone would come.

This Tribe was truly too remote, so remote that only Ferocious Beasts kept this Tribe company.

The beasts that could be left for them were not many, because in this remote place, only Ferocious Beasts appeared.

“Do your work properly, don’t be so talkative,” Zhen said, turning and walking into the Shaman’s wooden house.

The Poison Moth Tribe’s Shaman was called Wu. He was also someone sent out by the Dark Scorpion Tribe, cultivated personally by Shaman Chen Shao.

He and Zhen were dispatched here together. After invading this Tribe at that time, the two of them were left behind.

This was the Dark Scorpion Tribe’s style of doing things. That was, every time they went to a place, they would leave some people to rule over that Tribe.

As for the reasons to make the Tribe’s people obedient, there were many methods. This was where the Dark Scorpion Tribe’s methods were brilliant.

“What? They are complaining again?” Shaman Wu asked rather irritably.

He was considered a relatively young Shaman, his age around forty years old. A Shaman around forty-odd years old was considered very young.

“This happens all the time. Just get used to it,” Zhen waved his hand dismissively.

Hearing these complaints every day, he could recite them backwards. It really could not be considered anything novel.

“It is indeed a difficult problem. How can this continue? It will be very difficult for us to maintain control,” Shaman Wu sighed.

Although he was the Tribe’s Shaman, he had no experience in managing a Tribe.

The Shaman Bone Tablets he currently used had all taken a very long time to make, and naturally they were not made well.

At least compared to Shaman Bone Tablets made by experienced Shamans, the Shaman Bone Tablets he made were truly terrible.
