I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 728, Using Dried Meat to Exchange for Water?

Translator: Silavin

After Kai and the others left the Flame Dragon Tribe, they returned to the Giant Bear Tribe. Everyone could be said to have returned with full loads.

Everyone was carrying goods of various sizes from the Flame Dragon Tribe. From ceramics at the top end to Linen at the lower end, there were all sorts of things.

“I’m certain Father and the others will be very happy when they see these.” Kai looked confident.

He knew these goods would definitely cause a sensation in the Giant Bear Tribe. Each item was breathtaking.

“Let’s go quickly. We should hurry to report this matter to the Shaman.” Kuang urged immediately.

He was already somewhat impatient to see their expressions. Just thinking about it was amusing.

These items would definitely cause a sensation not only in the Giant Bear Tribe but in other Tribes as well. At any rate, he was quite certain of this.

*Step step step…* The two spent more than ten minutes reaching the Shaman’s wooden house. The Giant Bear Tribe’s Chieftain was also inside.

“You’ve finally returned. Why did it take so long this time?” Shan frowned.

Because he had heard that the Tribe’s people had returned, he had specifically come to the Shaman’s wooden house to wait together.

The reason for his question was that originally it should only have taken five or six days. This time they had actually been gone for more than ten days.

This exceeded the original plan by double the time. At first, everyone had been worried whether the team had encountered some problem. After all, even when exceeding the expected timeframe, it was usually only by a day or two. Exceeding it by so many days was a first.

“We made an additional stop at the Flame Dragon Tribe midway, so we were delayed for some time.” Kuang immediately explained.

He also knew they had spent extra time on this trip, so he felt somewhat nervous explaining.

“Even if you detoured to the Flame Dragon Tribe midway, you shouldn’t have spent so much extra time!” Shan still felt the timing was suspicious.

Because calculating the distances between the Spotted Deer Tribe, Flame Dragon Tribe, and Giant Bear Tribe, it shouldn’t have taken more than ten days.

“Father, it is because we stayed at the Flame Dragon Tribe for two days that we were delayed a bit.” Kai immediately explained.

He had known they would definitely be questioned upon returning to the Tribe. The delay this time had truly been too long.

“Didn’t we already trade for quite a bit of ceramics? Why did you need to go to the Flame Dragon Tribe again?” Shan asked, puzzled.

He completely did not understand their actions. They should have just traded for useful items and returned. Why go to the Flame Dragon Tribe for no apparent reason?

“Because while we were exchanging goods at the Spotted Deer Tribe, we heard news that the Flame Dragon Tribe was opening a Central Market.” Kuang paused, then continued, “They all said the Flame Dragon Tribe had very many good things, and we did indeed see them.”

“What they have were truly exceptional, so seeing we still had time, we thought going to have a look should be fine.” Kai supplemented.

“What is a Central Market? Why would the Flame Dragon Tribe open a Central Market for no reason?” Shan was very puzzled.

“A Central Market is similar to a market. Many excellent items are displayed there. Every single item is captivating.” Kuang explained.

“The Flame Dragon Tribe actually has such a thing? What did you buy and bring back?” Shaman Lei Yun asked curiously.

He was the Giant Bear Tribe’s Shaman, around sixty years old, and had served as Shaman for the longest period in the Giant Bear Tribe.

Previous Shamans had typically lasted only about ten years, but Shaman Lei Yun had been the Giant Bear Tribe’s Shaman for more than thirty years.

“There’s perfume, wine, and some linen and more.” Kai immediately said. He was extremely excited now. He immediately thought that he could see those items again.

Perhaps when the Shaman and Father were in a good mood, proposing a request to keep one item might actually be granted.

“Perfume? Wine? What are these things?” Shaman Lei Yun frowned deeply.

“If these are useless items, you’ll bear the loss yourselves.” Shan was extremely angry.

He thought that since even the Shaman did not know what these things were, they must be useless. If they had used the Tribe’s dried meat to exchange for these useless items, they would have to take responsibility themselves.

“Father, Shaman, these absolutely are not useless. You must believe us.” Kai said with complete certainty. He had already prepared to astound them. These things were simply far too shocking.

“Then show them to us.” Shan said seriously. At any rate, he was not holding much hope. These names were ones he had never even heard before.

“I’ll show you all the perfume first. This will definitely surprise you.” Kai took out the perfume from his bag.

The perfume was stored in a bone container. That bone was very long, but the internal space was narrow, which meant this vial of perfume did not hold much.

“This is the special item you mentioned?” Shan frowned, already detecting a faint fragrance.

“Father, you can smell the scent, right?” Kai mysteriously pulled out the bone bottle’s stopper.

He held it before everyone and began waving it. The fragrance from inside the bone bottle instantly dispersed.

Shan vigorously sniffed, smelling the fragrance he had never encountered before.

His eyes immediately widened as he exclaimed in shock, “This is perfume? The scent is indeed very fragrant.”

Shaman Lei Yun’s originally half-closed eyes also widened instantly as he said in surprise, “The scent is refreshing.”

Although he was also quite advanced in age, he was captivated by this fragrance. It truly smelled too good.

“This is extremely popular at the Flame Dragon Tribe. As soon as it was released, everyone snatched it all up.” Kai introduced.

“The quantity isn’t much, but it requires quite a bit of dried meat. In any case, it’s an exceptionally rare and excellent item.” Kuang immediately explained.

Shan nodded with satisfaction, took the perfume bottle, and began examining it, occasionally smelling the scent from inside the bone bottle.

The more he smelled, the more he liked it. He wished he could immediately collect this excellent item.

“It’s an excellent item. I just don’t know how it’s made.” Shaman Lei Yun fell into contemplation.

He blinked his cloudy black eyes while looking at that perfume bottle, very much wanting to understand the formula inside.

“Shaman, there’s also wine. Would you like to try the taste of the wine?” Kai immediately said.

This was also one of his favourite items. He liked all the various flavours. He had never tried water with this kind of taste. Even the name sounded quite peculiar.

“Wine? What is that?” Shaman Lei Yun asked curiously.

Today, all the words he had heard were vocabulary he had never encountered before, making them feel very unfamiliar.

“It’s a type of water, but the taste is completely different.” Kai explained.

“Water? You used dried meat to exchange for water!?” Shaman Lei Yun was very puzzled.
