I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 706, Orange Flavour

Yu Ying paused for a moment, the motion of peeling oranges in her hands also stopping as she asked in confusion. “Shaman, why do we need to keep them?”

“Orange peels have another great use. After drying them in the Sun, they can be made into dried tangerine peel, which also tastes quite good.” Su Bai explained.

Back on Earth, there were also quite a few people who used orange peels to make their own dried tangerine peel, or dried and kept them. When cooking some foods, they would also put orange peels in it. It was not only to remove odours, but most importantly, to enhance the freshness.

“Dried tangerine peel? Shaman, what is dried tangerine peel?” Yu Ying asked in confusion.

“It’s made from orange peels, and it tastes quite good when eaten,” Su Bai explained simply.

“I see, then I’ll keep them all,” Yu Ying nodded vigorously.

The two peeled quite a few oranges, and the orange peels were all placed to one side. The entire living room was permeated with the fragrance of oranges.

“Shaman, this smell is so lovely!” Yu Ying kept twitching her nose, closing her eyes to smell these scents.

The air was filled with those light orange scents that smelled wonderful, and their hands were also stained with this kind of smell.

“By the way, orange peels can also be used to make perfume. You can try it next time. It is quite fragrant as well.” Su Bai smiled.

Back on Earth there were orange-scented perfumes that, when sprayed, gave people the feeling of summer when they smelled them.

“Yes, next time I make perfume, I’ll also try using orange peels,” Yu Ying said immediately.

“Just put these in jars. Afterwards, add some sugar inside and seal them up. Once the sugar dissolves into syrup and soaks for a while, it’ll be ready.” Su Bai explained.

“Yes,” Yu Ying nodded vigorously.

Yu Ying followed the instructions and put the peeled orange segments into the jars piece by piece, then added the homemade granulated sugar.

“Put everything in places where the Sun can’t reach. It needs to be in a cool place, otherwise these preserved fruits will spoil,” Su Bai instructed.

“Understood,” Yu Ying had the maids behind her carry them away, then continued asking, “Shaman, how do you make dried fruits?”

“Just expose them to the Sun. Keep drying them for a period of time, and once the moisture is dried out and they’re dehydrated, you can sprinkle sugar on them and store them,” Su Bai said.

Making dried fruits was not difficult to make. The most important thing was to make sure the moisture was completely dried out; only then would it be considered successful.

“I understand. I’ll clean the fruit later and then dry them in the sun,” Yu Ying said immediately.

“Remember to have people watch them, don’t let ants or insects crawl on them. You must ensure they’re clean and hygienic for consumption.” Su Bai instructed.

“I’ll arrange for people to be there who won’t leave.” Yu Ying’s clear voice rang out.

“Go ahead,” Su Bai smiled slightly.

*Step step step…*

Yu Ying left carrying the orange peels that had been peeled earlier, also planning to dry these orange peels in the Sun.

“I also need to think about making other things. There will be more and more people at the Central Market, so the diversity of goods must definitely keep up,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

He was not satisfied with the current variety of goods: the more the better, naturally. Only this way could the Flame Dragon Tribe’s uniqueness be highlighted.

“I think it’s time to promote paper. So much time has passed already.” Su Bai asked and answered himself.

He looked at the papers placed beside the table. Recently, the production quantity of Wolf Tail Grass Paper has already become very high.

If the Flame Dragon Tribe used it themselves, they definitely would not use this much; it would likely take a year or two to use it all up.

The paper workshop was continuously producing paper, and all this paper was stored in warehouses.

Even if Su Bai had things to write and draw every day, he could not use it all up in a short time, which made him think of promoting it.

He picked up his teacup and took a sip, muttering to himself. “Let’s promote some of it first.”

Su Bai began writing on paper, also thinking of promoting quill pens. [Well, if there’s paper, there must be pens.]

*Scribble scribble scribble…*

The sound of the quill pen colliding with paper kept ringing out, especially loud in the quiet living room.

*Step step step…*

After Yu Ying arranged everything, she returned to see the Shaman seriously writing.

She tilted her head and asked in confusion. “Shaman, what are you doing?”

“I’m arranging the promotion of paper. I want to take Wolf Tail Grass Paper to the Central Market for people to trade,” Su Bai explained.

“Shaman, are we giving such good things to others? Won’t people from other Tribes discover the manufacturing method?” Yu Ying worried.

“It’s fine. They’re not that clever. Researching how to make paper isn’t that simple.” Su Bai chuckled.

He was quite confident about this point; not everyone could research papermaking techniques.

“Shaman, how much dried meat are you planning to exchange for one sheet of paper? These papers are so good, we can’t just cheaply give them away.” Yu Ying said immediately.

“I’m considering it. Trading one sheet at a time is not realistic. Let’s exchange them in packages,” Su Bai said softly.

“Shaman, we could do 10 sheets, 20 sheets, 30 sheets like this for trading. I think this would also be easier to calculate,” Yu Ying suggested.

“I was thinking the same thing. After I organise the exchange quantities later, I’ll give them to you,” Su Bai looked up.

“Alright,” Yu Ying nodded.

“I also want to put quill pens out to be traded. Quill pens also can’t be easily imitated, so there’s no need to worry,” Su Bai said.

“Yes, anyway we have large quantities now, so taking some out to trade is fine. This way we can also attract more people to come.” Yu Ying said immediately.

Su Bai nodded, blinking his black eyes and asking. “How is the recent Central Market trading going?”

He wanted to know the Central Market’s recent activity and process, as he had not looked at it for some time.

Besides being the Shaman and it being inconvenient to show his face publicly, most importantly, he had been busy with many things recently.

“Everything’s going very well, especially the ceramics. Many people are trading for ceramics.” Yu Ying said happily.

When Yu Ying went to look at the Central Market, she was completely amazed to discover that the ceramic shop had the most people.

“Besides ceramics, what else do they like?” Su Bai asked.

“About the same for everything. Perfumes also have very many people trading for them.” Yu Ying said immediately.

Su Bai nodded with satisfaction and asked. “So has all the perfume been completely exchanged?”

“Yes, all of them. The newest batch had not finished fermenting yet. It might be several more days before we can continue putting them out.” Yu Ying nodded.

“Then, let’s put them out after a few days. There’s no rush anyway.” Su Bai said.

“These two days I’ll make some orange-scented perfume and see how it smells,” Yu Ying said with a smile.

“Good. Remember to ask me if there’s anything you don’t understand,” Su Bai said softly.

“Yes,” Yu Ying smiled cheerfully.
