I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 723, Devilish Upgrade

In the early morning, Su Bai returned to his position and flipped through the papers he had organised over the past few days. Many sheets were densely covered with writing.

These papers recorded everything about the Flame Dragon Tribe’s development, covering agriculture and labour management. Following that were matters concerning military affairs, with problems from all aspects of the Tribe systematically listed.

“Shaman, the soldiers’ recent training seems to have become really rigorous.” Yan Hua said as she walked in from outside.

Yan Hua had returned to the Yong’an Building from outside, sweat continuously streaming down her forehead.

After returning from the Sea Fish Tribe last night, she had slept soundly. This morning, she had risen early and gone straight to train the soldiers.

“When you left, I had others substitute for the training. Are the results satisfactory?” Su Bai asked. He had left Ye Jiu and Yue to supervise, and hadn’t enquired about it since.

“The progress is obvious, completely different from when we left.” Yan Hua immediately said. They had left seven days ago. In just these seven short days, these soldiers’ progress had advanced by leaps and bounds.

“Oh? The progress is that rapid? Well, after you left, I haven’t asked about their training.” Su Bai listened with interest. According to his memory, this batch of soldiers hadn’t even been recruited for half a month yet.

“Yes, previously they found climbing over obstacles very strenuous, not to mention the other training.” Yan Hua said.

Yan Hua drank some water and continued. “But looking at them now, everyone’s physical fitness has improved considerably. They can complete a full set of movements without taking much time.”

Yan Hua had been quite surprised when observing earlier, as if this batch of soldiers were an entirely new group.

“Perhaps it’s because they’ve been training continuously for several days now, slowly catching up. Plus, with Ye Jiu and Yue leading them, they wouldn’t dare slack off,” Su Bai laughed.

After hearing the explanation, he felt somewhat sympathetic towards those soldiers. After all, being led by those two was not a joke.

If one’s physical fitness could keep up, that was one thing, but if they could not, it was simply like experiencing torture every single day.

“It should be that way. I saw that each of them has become much more obedient than before.” Yan Hua said, covering her mouth as she laughed.

“Since that’s the case, in a while we’ll need to switch to the second set of training.” Su Bai said seriously.

“The second set?” Yan Hua clearly didn’t understand.

Su Bai nodded, picked up the freshly brewed tea and swirled it, explaining. “The current set is merely to improve their physical fitness. There’s another set to improve their mobility.”

Yan Hua put down her water cup and asked curiously: “Shaman, what is the second set?”

“The second set is an enhanced version of the current one. It will add some obstacles and things that hinder them during their training.” Su Bai said.

He took a sip of tea and continued. “When doing this set, their bodies will sustain some injuries. So, tell them to mentally prepare.”

“Yes,” Yan Hua instantly became excited.

She began looking forward to what this training method would be like. Just hearing about it made it sound very thrilling. However, she was also particularly envious of those soldiers. Previously, she had not had these kinds of training. At most, they would just move large stones and run. Training that could exercise the entire body like this was almost non-existent.

“This is it. Take it and have a look first, then I’ll explain it to you.” Su Bai said, picking up several sheets of paper from the desk. The contents on the paper included both his writing and his drawings. Yan Hua should be able to understand the drawings, but the writing was another matter.

“Shaman, you draw so beautifully. I want to learn how to do it too” Yan Hua went slightly off topic.

“Ha ha ha,” Su Bai just laughed, returning to the main subject. “We’ll talk about that later. Have you looked at it?”

“I have, but there are some parts I don’t understand,” Yan Hua pursed her lips. Although the diagrams were detailed, the content was of great abundance, making it somewhat difficult to distinguish everything at once.

“Previously, we simply had them run without adding any obstacles. Now we need to fill the running track with densely packed obstacles, making them run while jumping over those obstacles.” Su Bai said.

He pointed to the second diagram and continued. “Next is climbing over high slopes. Previously it was just a small wooden wall with protruding blocks for them to climb on, correct?”

“Yes, even with just that, they found it very difficult to complete at first,” Yan Hua nodded.

“Now we’ll directly remove all the obstacles on this wooden wall, leaving them no place to climb. They’ll have to scale this wooden wall with their bare hands.” Su Bai explained.

“This greatly increases the difficulty. I can already imagine how much they would suffer.” Yan Hua thought this modification was very good.

“The third is rolling in the mud. Previously there was nothing in the mud, but now I need you to add some gravel into the mud,” Su Bai said and he pointed at the diagram. “This way, when they crawl across the mud, they’ll also experience pain.”

“I understand, Shaman. This is the part where they might get injured, correct?” Just thinking about it made Yan Hua’s skin hurt.

“En, this also tests their endurance, so they can adapt when in the Wilderness later.” Su Bai nodded.

He held very high expectations for the soldiers, which was why their training was so strict.

“Understood, Shaman. Are there more?” Yan Hua continued asking. She remembered there were other training exercises and wanted to know if all of them had been reformed.

“Next is crawling through hoops. Previously it was just a hoop made of vines for them to crawl through. Now I need you to set these vines on fire,” Su Bai said.

He pointed at the very clear drawing on the diagram and continued, “Arrange them in a row like this. If anyone catches fire, that represents failure and they must start from the beginning.”

“I think this training is excellent. I want to try it as well.” Yan Hua nodded repeatedly.

So far, Yan Hua felt that all these modifications were splendid, truly excellent methods for training Warriors as well.

“There’s also one more, which is tree climbing. We need to arrange for people to interfere with them.” Su Bai continued explaining the next modification.

He was thinking that they couldn’t be allowed to climb trees casually anymore. There definitely needed to be interference.

“Understood. I think they’ll be complaining during the coming period,” Yan Hua nodded.

“Suffering a bit now means better days ahead. This is the necessary path to becoming qualified soldiers,” Su Bai said seriously.

If they could not even endure this bit of hardship, then they were not qualified to become excellent soldiers.

“Yes,” Yan Hua unconsciously became serious as well.
