I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 708, Heartless and Carefree Laughter

*Boom!*

A massive fish leapt up from beneath the water. That fish was extraordinarily large, its body half again larger than the ship.

Its appearance was particularly ferocious, somewhat resembling a catfish from Earth, though its entire body was red.

Its teeth were also considerably sharper, looking just like a man-eating beast, completely devoid of the ‘cute’ appearance of Earth’s catfish.

“First aim for its eyes, making it unable to see the ship is most important.” Yan Hua shouted.

Yan Hua showed no fear whatsoever; the appearance of the Ferocious Beast instead triggered her combative nature.

“Understood.” Ai’er nodded, spreading her purple butterfly wings and taking flight.

She kept her recurve bow aimed at that Ferocious Beast’s eyes, preparing to build up power and choose the best moment.

Ge was the same, constantly trying to steady himself, not letting the ship’s swaying affect his stance.

He too raised his recurve bow, though at this moment he was aiming at the Ferocious Beast’s other eye.

“Let’s aim for its mouth, it is vulnerable there!” Sha Lan shouted.

“Should we throw an explosive package in there? That way we can directly blow its body apart!” Mai Mao suggested.

Yan Hua frowned, saying. “That might work, but we must also maintain the ship, adjusting its direction in time.”

Yan Hua was worried that after using the explosive package, the moment this Ferocious Beast exploded, it would affect the ship.

“Leave that to me, you just deal with the Ferocious Beast!” Long appeared from inside the cabin at some point.

“Good! The ship is in your hands.” Yan Hua nodded.

*Boom!*

Just as everyone finished speaking, that Ferocious Beast once again leapt out of the water, similarly opening its bloody maw.

“Now’s the time!” Yan Hua shouted loudly.

*Swoosh! Swoosh!*

*Sizzle sizzle sizzle…*

Two recurve bow arrows struck the Ferocious Beast’s eyes, and an explosive package was also thrown into the Ferocious Beast’s mouth.

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh…*

*Boom!*

The Ferocious Beast continuously let out anguished cries, the sounds deep and like blowing bubbles.

Due to feeling pain, that wild beast jumped back into the river, and quite a lot of fresh blood immediately appeared on the river surface.

“Success! Quickly change the ship’s position!” Yan Hua shouted.

*Splash splash splash…*

Under Long’s control, the ship kept changing position, trying to get as far from the original spot as possible, otherwise the explosion’s shockwave could easily affect the hull.

*Boom!*

A deep explosion sound rang out, clearly producing a trace of bright light underwater, and the river surface was also affected.

Slowly a high mound bulged up, then the mound dispersed outward, and the dispersing afterglow also reached the ship.

However, the ship had already been turned to a slightly more distant location, so the water surface’s rippling afterglow only made the ship sway once.

“Luckily my ship did not get harmed.” Long breathed a sigh of relief, initially worried whether the ship might have problems.

“Great success!” Yan Hua laughed happily aloud.

Yan Hua completely ignored the river water splashed on her body, simply wiping herself down briefly.

Her black hair was all soaked, but this did not affect her brilliant smile in the slightest.

“You. We encounter this kind of thing and you’re still laughing? You are truly carefree.” Sha Lan giggled and shook her head.

Her clothing was also wet, and she was still somewhat shaken, but seeing Yan Hua laugh, she laughed along.

“Don’t you think that was very thrilling just now? Normally we wouldn’t have the ability to deal with it.” Yan Hua played with her dampened hair strands.

“You’re right, normally we can’t even approach the river like this, let alone kill Ferocious Beasts while on top of the water.” Sha Lan agreed.

After hearing this exchange, Sha Lan also felt that moment had been very thrilling. Being able to kill Ferocious Beasts on this enormous river, what an honourable and grand accomplished that was.

“I really hope we can encounter more Ferocious Beasts!” Yan Hua looked eager to try.

Now with advanced weapons, hunting a Ferocious Beast was not difficult at all.

“No way! Although thrilling and honourable, I definitely don’t want to see that thing again!” Ai’er refused without hesitation.

She still wanted things to be peaceful, even if life on the ship was boring. That was still better than encountering those Ferocious Beasts and having everyone on the ship frightened.

“Hahaha.” Yan Hua laughed heartily, turning over to sit on the railing.

She widened her red eyes and kept scanning the river surface ahead, still wanting to see if any Ferocious Beast would appear.

“Stop sitting there. It is too dangerous, what if you accidentally fall?” Sha Lan worried.

Sha Lan still wanted to find time to properly talk with Yan Hua, sometimes one needed to pay attention to their own safety. A lively personality was certainly good, but falling into danger due to it would be horrendous.

She was Yan Hua’s best friend, so naturally Sha Lan did not want to see her good friend in harm’s way.

“Don’t worry, I know my limits, nothing will happen.” Yan Hua waved her hand, continuing. “You should rest for a while, just leave the watching to me.”

“Fine then, but I’ll also stay here with you, going inside would just be stuffy anyway.” Sha Lan shook her head.

Sha Lan also turned over and sat on the railing. Originally, she was very quiet and elegant, but at this moment could not care about such things.

Perhaps it was from spending so much time with Yan Hua, plus after awakening as a Totem Warrior, her personality was also slowly changing somewhat.

“How come you’re also sitting up here, aren’t you afraid of falling down?” Yan Hua asked, puzzled.

“If you’re not afraid of falling down, why would I be afraid?” Sha Lan said with a laugh while rolling her eyes.

“This is our second day travelling, and we’ve only encountered one Ferocious Beast, so most Ferocious Beasts don’t dare approach our ship.” Yan Hua analysed.

If the plants hanging on both sides of the ship could not make Ferocious Beasts stay away, there should have been a continuous stream of Ferocious Beast invasions these past two days.

But so much time had already passed, and the first one only just appeared, which was enough to prove those plants were still useful.

“It should be those plants hanging on both sides of the bed, the smell they emit are unbearable even for us…” Sha Lan made a disgusted expression.

“Hahaha.” Yan Hua laughed loudly, continuing. “Especially at night, but this is also to guarantee our safety.”

“By the way, where did Ah Hen go?” Sha Lan asked.

From waking up this morning until now, she had not seen the Peak Eagle, though it had been following along last night.

“I let it go find food on its own, there are forests on both sides, so there should be plenty of food for it to eat.” Yan Hua said lightly.

“Still, don’t let it stray too far. It could be dangerous for it.” Sha Lan cautioned.
