Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Vol 2 Chapter 22. You Have to Start Off on the Right Foot (1)

”It is not much, but please drink.”

”Thank you.”

Jeong Seon, the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect, was moved.

A warm cup of tea offered politely.

Manners naturally exuding from both speech and action.

Right. This is the normal appearance.

Here lies the normal response when the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect visits another sect.

And Jeong Seon realized he hadn’t known how grateful a thing ’normal’ was until now.

’So this is why they said to have a grateful heart in all things. I am only now understanding that teaching....’

”Why go through the trouble of treating a guest and bringing out tea? Where in the world is there a guest who climbs over a wall and covets another sect’s Divine Item? Oh my... If I acted on my temper, I would just...”

Of course, the incarnation of abnormality still existed in one corner.

He thought it was a private meeting with the Sect Leader, but that man was included as if it were very natural.

And he is looking at this side with a very, very displeased gaze.

Jeong Seon tried not to give his gaze to that side as much as possible and spoke to the normal person in front of him.

”First of all, I am very sorry for coming so suddenly without notice.”

”It is fine. However....”

Go Seok-hyeon spoke towards Jeong Seon.

”Could you tell me the reason why the Sect Leader visited our sect?”

”First, I congratulate you on defeating the Blood Saber Sect and protecting Tianshui County.”

”It is a trivial matter.”

”That is not so. Although it is said that the Unorthodox Faction is dominant in the Jianghu recently, you have proven that the spirit of the Orthodox Faction has not yet declined, so it is truly a magnificent achievement.”

”.......”

Go Seok-hyeon kept his mouth shut tight.

He couldn’t answer because he didn’t know what to say.

A third-rate sect of the Jianghu.

No, to him, who had been protecting an old signboard in a position ambiguous to even call a sect, the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect was an entity above the clouds.

Since such an entity appeared directly in front of his eyes and praised him like this, he literally didn’t know what to do. However....

’Wake up. I am the Sect Leader of the Twin Dragon Sect.’

Go Seok-hyeon corrected his mind that was about to get excited.

Even if the opponent is the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect, he himself is also a body in charge of a sect.

He must know how to say what needs to be said properly.

”Is the purpose of the Sect Leader’s visit to our sect merely to convey words of praise?”

”There is that too, but in truth, I was curious.”

”.......”

”If one speaks of Blood Wave Saber Guest Ma Jae-ho, he is one of the disciples of the Heaven Breaking Martial Emperor and a bladesman who ranks within the top fifteen even in the Unorthodox Faction.”

”.......”

”But hearing the words of my disciple, they said the Twin Dragon Sect subdued Ma Jae-ho in a single move and even swept away his subordinates.”

Go Seok-hyeon did not answer and calmly lifted the teacup in front of him to wet his lips.

But this was not being calm, but to cover his face to hide his emotions as much as possible.

And Jeong Seon continued to speak....

”Hearing that such a master appeared, I got curious and stopped by like this.”

”I see.”

”I did well to confirm it with my own two eyes. It is truly... won...”

Jeong Seon could not continue his words for a moment.

Originally, he should say it is wonderful, even as lip service. He should, but....

”Ahem!”

Looking at that human, the words following ’won’ just wouldn’t drop from his lips.

So Jeong Seon changed the subject.

”I heard from my disciple that you inherited the true teachings of the Radiant Dragon Great Master.”

Go Seok-hyeon glanced at Patrick for a moment.

And when Patrick nodded, he looked at Jeong Seon again and said, ”Yes. That is true.”

”Ho.... It is truly a blessing for the Jianghu. It is certain that the Twin Dragon Sect will prosper infinitely in the future.”

At Jeong Seon’s reaction, Go Seok-hyeon was rather slightly flustered.

”Does the Sect Leader know of his deeds?”

Then Jeong Seon nodded and said,

”Although he is a figure from a whopping 200 years ago, I remembered hearing vaguely about him. So before coming here, I stopped by the archives and checked the records from 200 years ago.”

”Ah, is that so.”

”He was truly a great person. By any chance, how much does Sect Leader Go know about Radiant Dragon Great Master Jin Cheon?”

”I know him as the one who led the renaissance of the Twin Dragon Sect once. I heard he was a person overflowing with chivalry to the point of receiving the title of Great Master.”

Then Jeong Seon shook his head and said,

”Actually, it is not just to that extent.”

”Yes?”

”According to our sect’s records, Radiant Dragon Great Master Jin Cheon, he left his name as ’Gansu’s First Sword’ at one time.”

”Ahem.... Ahem....”

”As a swordsman ranking within the top five in the entire world, I heard he almost never lost in over 100 duels.”

”Ahem.... Total victory... ahem.... One hundred battles, one hundred victories....”

”I understand that even half of the so-called Ten Great Evils, the tycoons of the Unorthodox Faction of that time, were punished by his sword.”

”Ahem.... Ahem... More than half... Eight.... Ahem....”

”.......”

”.......”

There has been static noise since a while ago.

When the gazes of the two gathered in one place, Patrick spoke with a grinning face.

”Ah, I apologize. Please continue.”

The two people who looked at Patrick for a moment met each other’s gazes again.

And Jeong Seon said....

”Anyway, according to our sect’s records, he was a great martial artist and an excellent chivalrous person of the Orthodox Faction.”

”Ahem!”

Let’s ignore it.

Let’s ignore that static noise.

Jeong Seon did not even glance to the side and continued speaking to Go Seok-hyeon.

”And I saw while coming here, there is a giant tree of truly magnificent momentum sitting in your sect’s garden.”

”Ah. Yes....”

”I heard just a while ago that the tree is your sect’s Divine Item. Is that true?”

”Yes. That is correct.”

Go Seok-hyeon hesitated for a moment but soon answered honestly.

”Hahaha, to think such a magnificent Divine Item has been handed down through the sect for generations. I feel I understand how deep the tradition and potential of the Twin Dragon Sect are.”

We planted it yesterday?

Tradition and potential, my foot....

”Sect Leader Go!”

It was then.

Suddenly, Jeong Seon abruptly came forward, held Go Seok-hyeon’s hands, and spoke earnestly.

”It is my lifelong request.”

”Umm.... What do you mean?”

”Could I please not experience your sect’s Divine Item just once?”

”Ah, that is....”

”I know it is rude to make such a request to another sect. However, as a Daoist pursuing the Dao, I want to experience that immortal qi radiating from your sect’s Divine Item no matter what.”

”.......”

”I will do ’anything’ if it is a repayment I can make.”

At the sight of Jeong Seon pleading pitifully, Go Seok-hyeon hesitated for a moment.

In fact, since it was not just anyone but the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect begging so earnestly, he wanted to grant it if possible. However....

’It feels a bit reluctant to grant permission on my own without receiving the Worshipped Duke’s permission.’

Even if it is called a sect’s Divine Item, it wasn’t a Divine Item passed down for generations.

It was planted by the Worshipped Duke just yesterday and designated as a Divine Item.

But is it really right to expose it to an outsider already?

Given the Worshipped Duke’s personality, it is obvious he will be displeased....

”Why not? Since he asks so earnestly, just grant it once.”

Look. He opposes like th... Huh? He’s not opposing?

”Will it really be alright?”

At Go Seok-hyeon’s words, Patrick shrugged his shoulders and said,

”What does it matter? It’s not like the tree wears out if you touch it a bit, right?”

”Well, that is true....”

”Above all, the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect is begging like this.... As a neighborly affection, can’t we grant this much?”

”Umm.... Yes. If you say so, then well....”

And Jeong Seon, who was listening to their conversation, jumped for joy.

”Thank you. I will never forget this grace and will surely repay it.”

Watching Jeong Seon rejoicing so much, Patrick grinned.

’It would be best not to forget those words.’

***

A short while later.

Jeong Seon, standing in front of the World Tree in the backyard of the Twin Dragon Sect, could not help but admire.

”Ahhh....”

It is even more amazing seeing it up close.

The holy energy radiating from the tree was truly overwhelming.

It felt as if he was facing a holy existence, not a simple tree.

At such an appearance of his Master, Yun Gi had an expression of incomprehension.

Of course, it is a magnificent giant tree. However....

”Is it to the extent of admiring it so much?”

At those words muttered inadvertently, Patrick answered.

”Tsk tsk, your cultivation is still far lacking.”

”...Huh? Pardon?”

”The Sect Leader of the current Kongtong Sect is quite something, though. Since he can feel the divine power of the World Tree.”

”.......”

”If he continues to devote himself like this, he might really ascend to the rank of a god and undergo Transformation and Ascension.”

”.......”

”Do you not understand at all?”

”That is, well....”

”Tsk tsk, you still have a long way to go.”

”.......”

”Devote yourself more.”

What is this?

The words themselves aren’t bad.

Apart from the fact that they are words praising the Master while pointing out his lack, these are commonly spoken words.

Words spoken by a senior with high seniority to a junior.

But....

’Why do I have to hear this from a guy who looks clearly younger than me?’

Patrick looks at least twenty years younger than Yun Gi at a glance.

But why does he have to suffer being treated like a novice by a young guy?

”Ahem, look here. Patr....”

”Shh. It’s starting.”

He tried to argue something, but before that, he saw his Master carefully reaching out his hand to the World Tree.

And the moment he brought his hand to the World Tree....

Pop!

”Keook!”

Jeong Seon bounced back greatly as if hit by a horse.

After bouncing away for a long time, he barely planted his feet on the ground and narrowly escaped rolling around ungracefully.

And looking at his hand....

”How can this be.”

He received a shock intense enough that his hand was still tingling.

The moment he touched that tree, the tree pushed him away with immense force.

”Now, you touched it once, so that’s the end. Done, right?”

At Patrick’s words, Jeong Seon spoke hurriedly.

”W... Wait a moment, please.”

”Hmm? Why? Still not enough?”

”Please allow me to try just one more time, just once.”

”It doesn’t really matter, but.... Yes. Try it.”

When Patrick gave permission, Jeong Seon approached the World Tree again and reached out his hand.

His hand reaching out much more carefully and cautiously than before was....

Pop!

”Kueuk....”

Rejected once again.

”Why....”

He made a tearful face like a boy rejected by the woman he felt love for the first time.

Clearly, that Divine Tree rejected him.

Why on earth?

He is not of the Unorthodox Faction or a Demonic Practitioner, but has cultivated the Dao all his life, so why does it reject him?

That question was solved immediately.

”This World Tree, you see. It is our Twin Dragon Sect’s Divine Item.”

Patrick walked over directly and placed his hand on the World Tree. Then, the World Tree radiated vitality as if it felt good, and its branches shook slightly.

In that state, Patrick looked at Jeong Seon and said,

”It is designed to reject anyone other than the disciples of our Twin Dragon Sect.”

”It discriminates against people? I have neither seen nor heard of such a tree.”

”Now you’ve seen it.”

”.......”

Jeong Seon had a dumbfounded face and could not close his mouth.

Watching that scene, Go Seok-hyeon thought.

’Indeed, this is why he said not to worry.’

Excessive treasure becomes the seed of strife and brings disaster to the sect.

Go Seok-hyeon had been wary of that point, but if what he saw just now was true, there was no need for such worry.

In the first place, that tree was a spiritual item that accepted only the disciples of the Twin Dragon Sect and rejected others.

There was nothing to fight about.

A Divine Item solely for the Twin Dragon Sect.

Go Seok-hyeon trembled in emotion.

’Ah.... Where on earth did the Worshipped Duke obtain such an External Item?’

No, obtaining it is one thing.

With his narrow knowledge, he cannot know what kind of place the Outer Regions is, after all.

But even at a glance, it is clear that the tree called the World Tree is a great treasure.

Yet, to willingly offer such a treasure for the sect?

Is that something possible for an ordinary person?

’Ah.... The Worshipped Duke is truly a person who is upright and without greed.’

Needles to say about the gratitude towards Patrick, but apart from that, a sense of disappointment regarding his character had been sprouting little by little.

But looking at it now, he was foolish.

There is no way the Worshipped Duke, who willingly offers such a great External Item for the sect, has any selfish desires, right?

That person is upright and noble....

”Now, then it is time for settlement.”

”...What do you mean?”

”You clearly said it earlier. If we let you experience our sect’s precious, oh so precious Divine Item, you would do ’anything’.”

”...No, that is, well....”

”You touched it, right? You did touch it, right?”

”I did, but effectively, uh uh....”

”Surely the person who is the Sect Leader of the Great Kongtong Sect won’t say two different things with one mouth, right?”

”That is, well....”

”I’ll tell you in advance, but wiping your mouth after saying you’ll repay grace is the twenty-first thing I hate.”

”Why are there so many things you hate?!”

”Anyway, let’s do this amicably. Yes. Isn’t it good for both of us to be on good terms?”

”Such a thug.... Ahem....”

Patrick is skillfully cornering the Sect Leader of the Kongtong Sect.

And seeing that, Go Seok-hyeon thought.

’No. Let’s rethink the character part after all.’
