Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 197: Chapter 196: The Awkwardness of Taking the Wrong Path

The Origin had just arrived on the White Sea, and upon reaching here, Arceus sensed a familiar presence, so it charted the course for the Origin.

As for why Jack ended up in the clouds, it was entirely because he wanted to see if he could swim in the sea clouds.

After arriving at the White Sea, apart from Riko having a bit of altitude sickness, the rest of the pirates weren’t affected much; their physical fitness allowed them to adapt to such situations.

Large fish also live in the sea clouds, but they were all scared away by the aura Arceus emitted. The nearby sea clouds had effectively turned into a swimming pool, since Yamato also wanted to swim, after all, the area had to be opened up a bit.

Once the surrounding area was safe, Mandfeish didn’t go down to accompany them either. As Jack was a fishman, it would be a joke if he drowned in the sea, so they were merely advised not to swim too low and to be careful not to fall off the sea clouds.

Due to being a fishman, Jack swam quite far, eventually diving headlong into someone else’s fishing net. This net was woven from rope clouds, possessing extremely strong resilience, and young Jack was thus caught.

However, in the end, it was just a misunderstanding. Not all the Shandia people are so aggressive; they didn’t take any offensive actions. Sky Island had never seen such a large ship, it had to be visitors from the Blue Sea.

Not long ago, they had spotted a pirate ship rushing up from below, but it was much smaller than the Origin.

After untying the fishing net, they took a few steps back indicating no hostility, and then they opened the wind shell and left. They seemed not too keen on interacting with outsiders.

”Foster father, are those the people living here?”

”Yes, they are the people brought up with the Sky-reaching Sea Flow, though their ancestors are different.

Mandfeish, turn fifteen degrees to the left, and sail at full speed.

Zeraora, fish Jack up. He’s had enough fun by now.”

When the Origin passed by Jack, it conveniently scooped him up, but the two Shandia people noticed something wrong; the direction they were heading was towards the tribal settlement.

”Go! Hurry back to the tribe!”

Sky Island not only has sea clouds but also island clouds where ships cannot sail. However, their self-made jet devices allow them to glide on island clouds.

Island clouds have properties similar to land, enabling plants to grow, but no seeds exist in the island clouds, so the seeds for growing plants here all come from ships from the Blue Sea, as well as parts of Gaya Island that were washed up.

...

”Chieftain! Chieftain! Ships from the Blue Sea are coming, and they’re heading straight for us!”

In the depths of the island clouds, pointed tents were orderly distributed, with totem poles distributed among them. Many of these totem poles were already lit with fire, serving as lighting tools.

Though this place used to be a part of Gaya Island, it had lived in isolation for nearly four hundred years. The Shandia people ponder daily how to reclaim their home, which has been a war spanning centuries.

Both Sky Island people and Shandia people endured heavy casualties for this; in recent years, Gan Fall became the administrator of Sky Island.

His policy of peaceful coexistence somewhat eased their conflicts, but it did not fundamentally resolve the problem. The blood feud of hundreds of years was not easily reconciled.

An elderly-looking person, wearing a headpiece made of animal skins, came out upon hearing the noise.

”Kodol, Shatira, don’t panic. What happened?”

”Chieftain, it’s a ship from the Blue Sea, a very large one. We were fishing earlier, and then....”

They briefly explained the situation and then awaited the chieftain’s instructions.

”All adult warriors, prepare yourselves. Kodol, you two take some people to the shore and see where those people are going.”

...

The Shandia people underestimated the Origin’s sailing speed; it had already docked next to the island clouds a short while ago.

After leaving some people to guard the ship, the others disembarked. The night jungle of Sky Island was filled with mystery, yet none of the Hundred Beasts Pirate Crew felt scared.

Yamato even ran at the front, which was unreasonable, but Arceus didn’t think any creature could hurt them right under its nose.

”Foster father, is what we’re looking for here?”

”Just not far ahead.”

”Is it treasure?”

”To others, it’s of no use, but it’s my unique treasure that I lost many years ago.”

”So does that mean father is often away from home to help you find stuff?”

”Probably... yes.”

He intended to say yes, but knowing Kaidou’s nature, who knows what he would do midway through the trip. Reflecting on the time, Yamato was conceived during that period, so he wasn’t very sure either.

Actually, at this distance, he could already directly summon the plate. As long as it’s not blocked by obstacles like the Dread Plate that had ended up inside a Sea King Type’s stomach before, he could directly summon the plate back.

But he wanted to visit the place where the Lunarians originally hid his plate, so he followed his perception forward.

”Once we retrieve the item, will it be much easier for you, father, and Sister Shaina?”

”More or less, but it will still take a while.”

”Got it, I’ll help you find everything, foster father!”

”You’re still too young, Yamato, but you’ve already helped a lot.”

”Have I? I don’t realize it.”

Yamato wasn’t aware of how much help her luck brought. However, she tripped on a tree root in her carelessness, and the soft island cloud prevented any injury.

It was Chansey behind who seemed more concerned, but Yamato was used to her clumsiness, and after a roll, she got back up and spotted a brand new path ahead; the secluded village of the Shandia lay before them.

Indeed, Kodol had taken people to scout earlier, but the problem was that Sky Island is circular in shape, not straight like Wano Kuni with just a few paths in. So, they perfectly missed each other.

Seeing strangers appear on the village outskirts, the prepared warriors all raised their weapons, old and weak, not excluded; an entire tribe being armed was their only option.

The members of Hundred Beasts never fear battle; seeing this, they all moved forward to take up weapons and confront them. At just a single command, they would begin their slaughter without hesitation.

”Outsiders, what are you here for?”

The chieftain wasn’t aware of the other’s strength, but he was prepared for battle.

”No need to be tense, I’m just here to reclaim my things. It’s right here.”
