Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 172: Chapter 171: Pokemon Integrated into Residents’ Daily Lives

Queen’s confusion did not hinder the progress of the era, and the development of Wano Kuni continued. The transformation of the Udon Region was basically complete, with factories reaching saturation in number, and this output met the needs of the Hundred Beasts Pirates.

Externally, Hundred Beasts Fruit vaguely became a giant in the New World Underground World food industry, dealing in fruits, dairy products, meat products, and some special elixirs.

These monopolistic products ensured the status of Hundred Beasts Fruit and established its reputation in the industry.

After building a reputation, Hundred Beasts began expanding its market, with some ordinary agricultural products also becoming their trade goods.

Compared to those targeting the high-end market, the profits from these bulk commodities were also very high, focusing on volume, and the actions of Hundred Beasts also led to a reshuffling in the New World Underground World.

Many islands with winter or desert environments could not meet their own food demands and had always relied on foreign trade to obtain food, while Hundred Beasts Fruit monopolized most of the business.

As for the original black market merchants, they were gradually eliminated in the competition. Through studies on berries and some plants, Queen and Nightin developed new high-yield crops.

Moreover, whether it was Umit’s transportation industry or Jibson’s warehousing industry, both had to give Kaidou and Charlotte Linlin some face. Charlotte Linlin wanted Kaidou’s business to grow bigger so she could acquire more fruits.

Her taste had become so refined that ordinary fruits could no longer satisfy her needs, so she also supported Kaidou’s development in this area.

In this environment, their normal competition methods could not compete with the Hundred Beasts. As for unconventional methods, Kaidou hoped they would use them more, as there were not enough miners.

Within Wano Kuni, under the support of the Hundred Beasts, Kojiro’s business association rose again, and began integrating locals into it, allowing the residents of Wano Kuni to gradually get used to the presence of the Hundred Beasts.

Moreover, quite a few people began to accept the new things brought by Hundred Beasts, but this group of people did not originate in Hakumai or Udon, but first appeared in Kuri.

Under Kozuki Oden’s governance, the farmers of Peach Blossom Spring Farm were the first to accept the presence of the Hundred Beasts Pirates.

Thanks to Kinemon’s maneuvers, they leased out Peach Blossom Spring Farm, which most affected the farmers living there since it was their way of making a living.

In Kinemon and others’ previous propaganda, they painted the Hundred Beasts Pirates as having sinister intentions and claimed that what they saw was fake.

Even the reared strange cows were described as terrifying creatures. After all, how could a normal cow have three tails or walk on two legs? Those were considered ill-fated ghost cows.

Most of the local residents of Wano Kuni were very ignorant, and under such circumstances, they developed a sort of resistance towards the Hundred Beasts Pirates, and other regions were similarly influenced.

Unfortunately, after ceding Peach Blossom Spring Farm, they did not have a plan to accommodate the original farmers, forcing them to confront Hundred Beasts Pirates’ management.

But after some interaction, they realized that the reality was not as terrifying as Kinemon and others claimed.

The Hundred Beasts developed mixed agriculture in Wano Kuni. Although Kuri District focused more on agriculture, it also included animal husbandry, and after taking over Peach Blossom Spring Farm, a batch of Miltank was sent there.

The taste of their milk varied depending on their diet. They were brought here to feed on berries to improve the flavor.

To sell this milk further, aside from the weapon factory in the Udon Region, dairy and fruit factories were established in Kuri and Hakumai.

Proper industrialization would not damage the environment but would instead improve the national economic situation.

Moreover, industrial wastewater became the feed for Alola Muk, and the toxic crystals they produced became materials for Queen’s weapons, forming a virtuous cycle.

Every time the Hundred Beasts Pirates seized land to build a factory, Kurozumi Orochi would be happy for a moment, but afterward, he would no longer be pleased with their operations.

In his view, just forcing people to work with swords and spears would suffice, but the Hundred Beasts actually paid people, although the money did not come from him.

Because the profits from these new factories had nothing to do with him, he could only obtain a portion of the profits from the weapon factory, and similarly, the craftsmen’s wages came out of his pocket.

Yet, regardless of who paid, he had not fully realized his aim of oppressing Wano Kuni, which left him very dissatisfied, though he did not dare express it, resorting instead to committing misdeeds in his own Flower Capital.

Kaidou did not interfere either, as the civilians forced into bankruptcy by his oppression who moved out of the Flower Capital were the primary recruitment targets for Kojiro’s business association and the Hundred Beasts’ factories.

In Kuri, a peaceful day began again. Before the sun rose, the farmers at the farm had to get up to prepare for work, and it was the same for the children.

Education was the right of the samurai and noble descendants. Children from ordinary farming families like them had no schools to attend.

Their recent work was very simple, helping to milk the Miltank.

”Kentaro, be careful not to fall, just place the milk there and wait for someone to take it!”

Although it was not his first time working, she still reminded her youngest son.

”Got it, Mom, don’t worry about me.”

Miltank had a very gentle temperament, as long as one could accept their appearance, they were easy to get along with.

However, these Miltank did not like machines. Using machines would affect their mood, thus lowering milk quality, which was why the local farmers milked them manually every day.

There were dozens of Miltank scattered around the farm, without fences or chains, roaming freely. Naturally, Kentaro alone could not handle all the work.

He was responsible for part of the Miltank. Those familiar with him would wait for him in a fixed spot.

And on his way, there were many children about his age doing the same. Most of those who came to milk were kids, as Miltank would cooperate with them, eliminating the need for vigorous labor.

The robust laborers were responsible for tasks like farming, weeding, and watering.

Also, the intelligence of Miltank was not much lower than these children. They even became friends, and once the initial fear passed, they found these strange cows were not as described by others.

Every morning, members of the Hundred Beasts Pirates would deliver prepared bottles for them to store the milk, which would be collected in the evening.

After milking, besides foraging, the Miltank would also play with these children, whose faces beamed with smiles.

This was just a microcosm; in Wano Kuni, the existence of Pokemon was gradually becoming a part of some residents’ lives...
