The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 100: Chapter 99: Assigned Sous Chef

A new week.

Fu Yu is tossing the wok while pondering.

He had two consecutive days off last week, taking one of Sun Qingning’s days off. So, he can’t take a break this week.

It’s been half a month since he last visited Zhao Meng’s place, and there’s still a pile of garbage waiting to be dealt with there.

Just thinking about it gives him a headache.

While he was contemplating about his days off, a rumor started spreading quickly among the kitchen staff!

”Hey, have you heard? From now on, Chef Zhao and Chef Gu will be taking orders separately.”

Ever since Fu Yu started independently handling the cooking, Sun Qingning had been getting closer to him.

Taking advantage of Chef Zhao stepping out to smoke by the back door, he quickly approached Fu Yu with a mysterious air.

Fu Yu, who was multitasking, was slightly taken aback by the news!

It’s only been a few days, and the news has already spread?

At this moment, Zhang Jiaxin from Gu Yunwu’s team conveniently headed to the storage, joining in: ”It should be true, I was about to quit earlier, but Chef Gu persuaded me to stay, saying there’ll be opportunities to handle the cooking in the future. Qianlima definitely has more potential than small restaurants, and once you leave, it’s hard to come back.”

Fu Yu listened and nodded. Gu Yunwu was speaking the truth.

If the kitchen truly implements this, then indeed, it would be easier for the kitchen staff to stand out than before.

Besides, Qianlima is at least a well-known old restaurant in Bei’an.

It’s certainly incomparable to small restaurants outside.

Just look at Yao Yihang.

If it weren’t for more potential and money, he wouldn’t have switched over here, starting from scratch again.

But in the end, it’s up to the leadership to make the final decision.

No matter how excited they are, it’s useless.

At this time, Wang Yuxuan hurriedly came in, glanced around the kitchen, and shouted, ”Chef Zhao! Chef Gu! Chef Yao wants you to go to the meeting room, there’s going to be a meeting!”

Zhao Meng just returned from smoking and asked, ”Now?”

Gu Yunwu was busy plating, so he also inquired, ”We haven’t finished yet!”

Wang Yuxuan said, ”Chef Yao was about to come over, but the boss notified him to prepare a meeting, saying you should go right away. I’m sure there’s something planned for the kitchen again!”

When the leaders speak, no matter how busy it is, you have to make time to go.

Zhao Meng got the work in order, waiting for Gu Yunwu to free up his hands, and together they went for the meeting.

The in-charges left.

The kitchen suddenly became lively.

Yao Yihang turned and shouted at Fu Yu: ”Hey! Did you hear? What’s this meeting about?”

His shout immediately put all eyes on Fu Yu.

Tch!

What kind of person!

Sometimes Fu Yu really admires Yao Yihang for this vigor!

His pointed questioning was as if Chef Yao had given Zhao Meng some hints!

Fu Yu kept tossing the wok without stopping, and through the mask, he replied with a question: ”Didn’t Chef Gu come with the boss this morning? Don’t you know what the meeting is about either?”

Is it Chef Zhao who’s well-informed, or Chef Gu?

Is there a need to compare?

Yao Yihang couldn’t help but glance at Fu Yu, looking awkward: ”Oh, I haven’t heard anything.”

Fu Yu looked up and smiled at him: ”Neither have I.”

The two exchanged a couple of lines, and although the others said nothing at the time, they soon started gossiping behind their backs.

”Is he crazy!”

Sun Qingning prided himself on being Zhao Meng’s person, which meant he had to be on Fu Yu’s side.

And now, he genuinely admired Fu Yu, almost to the point of idolizing him.

Sun Qingning despised Yao Yihang; that person was too hypocritical.

Fu Yu chuckled and didn’t reply.

He also looked down on Yao Yihang, but he never engaged in gossiping behind people’s backs.

Contrasting the bustle of the kitchen, in the meeting room, Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu sat side by side, looking at the boss and Yao Shi opposite them.

The meeting today involved only four people, and the topic discussed was the rearrangement of order-taking in the kitchen.

Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu had each received the news earlier.

Now, hearing the announcement, they appeared calm enough.

Taking orders separately?

If they want to split, let them split!

It’s better to do each their own thing.

Actually, all the dishes in the restaurant could be cooked by anyone.

It’s just that everyone prefers cooking certain dishes, and after making them for a long time, becomes more skillful and adept at them than other dishes.

Previously, while cooking, Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu were secretly competing.

Every time an order came to the kitchen, the two would pick dishes.

If it was an even number, it was fine, they divided them evenly.

But if it was an odd number, who would cook an extra dish?

They were already at odds with each other, and over time, their grudges deepened.

Gu Yunwu was the first to state: ”Since we’re taking orders separately, shouldn’t the stoves and tools in the kitchen be separated too? Previously, when Old Zhao and I took orders together, our dishes and bowls were assigned. The ones he used and the ones I used were kept separately. Now that we’re taking orders individually, all these arrangements have to be reorganized.”

After Gu Yunwu finished speaking, Zhao Meng remained silent.

Zhao Meng had no interest in quibbling over such trivial matters.

He knew the boss had probably already made all the arrangements.

Now they’re just being notified.

They’d just do whatever the boss says.

Dong Jun Tian said nothing, just glanced at Yao Shi.

So Yao Shi calmly remarked: ”Everything has been arranged, the purchasing department ordered a new batch of utensils, which will be delivered soon.”

Seeing Gu Yunwu quiet down.

Yao Shi continued: ”This adjustment in order-taking for the kitchen is a good experiment, I believe. As the core department of the restaurant, we should indeed strive to improve efficiency and better coordinate the serving speed and ensure the dishes’ flavor and quality.”

Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu listened silently, their expressions unreadable.

This adjustment in the kitchen can be considered swift and forceful.

From the planning stage to formal execution, it took only a few days.

Even though they heard about it early, Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu still felt a bit caught off guard.

Yao Shi gave further instructions and finally said: ”When you go back, make sure to explain this to your team, decide on the staffing arrangements yourselves and report back to me.”

Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu nodded in agreement, each with different thoughts.

This staff allocation requires careful consideration.

After work in the evening.

Taking advantage of the shift change, Zhao Meng gathered his team into a room.

Closed the door and held a small meeting.

”This morning, the leaders adjusted the order distribution in our kitchen. Starting tomorrow, Chef Gu and I will take orders separately. As a result, we need to independently complete the entire serving process...”

Having one less cooking partner means the roles of the staff on both sides need to be readjusted.

Everyone immediately showed a look of delight.

This is good news!

But they wonder whether their work will see any changes?

If... they could also have a chance to cook, how great would that be!

Zhao Meng continued: ”Your work will also undergo some adjustments in the future.”

”Fu Yu will continue to be the cook, and the rest of you will take turns assisting me in the kitchen. I will also try to provide opportunities for you to try your hand at cooking.”

The kitchen staff were instantly thrilled!

To take turns assisting Zhao Meng meant starting to learn cooking under Chef Zhao like Fu Yu did before!

They hadn’t been made full-time yet, originally planned to continue in support roles, but now suddenly, they had a chance.

”Sun Qingning, your work remains the same.”

Sun Qingning was stunned, suddenly dumbfounded!

Work remains unchanged?

Everyone else can assist in the kitchen, only he remains unchanged?

Even knowing he had offended Zhao Meng before, he thought that since Zhao Meng hadn’t mentioned it, it was water under the bridge.

Have I been completely abandoned?

Zhao Meng continued: ”Fu Yu is now full-time, so he will be partnering with me in taking orders. As such, you’ll be working with him from now on.”

”Sun Qingning, you’ll now assist Fu Yu, supporting him in his tasks.”

At this, everyone exchanged glances.

Sun Qingning looked utterly astonished.

I became Fu Yu’s assistant?
