The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 81: Chapter 80: Is This a Longevity Peach or a Mooncake?

The middle-aged man spoke with righteous anger!

The couple was blocking the front hall, shouting loudly, and some patrons who had started to arrive for their meals were gathering around to watch.

Yao Shi quickly stepped forward to persuade them, ”Let’s talk it over. Whatever the issue, there should be a way to resolve it. I’m the owner of this restaurant; please come with me.”

The couple followed him to the VIP room.

The head server was quite perceptive.

As soon as they sat down, she quickly led the staff to serve tea and water and make proper preparations for hospitality.

Yao Shi still didn’t know what was going on.

So he asked, ”Is there something you are dissatisfied with regarding the Longevity Peach?”

As soon as this was mentioned, the middle-aged man scowled.

Today was their family’s old lady’s 60th birthday.

But due to the saying ”pride invites loss,” they didn’t dare to hold a big celebration and just wanted to buy a Longevity Peach to take home.

The family wanted to have a joyful reunion meal together to celebrate.

The middle-aged man was a dutiful son, thinking that even if he couldn’t throw a banquet for the old lady, at least the Longevity Peach should be a decent one.

He heard that the take-away Longevity Peaches from the music restaurant were particularly good, so he wanted to buy one.

Unexpectedly, after taking it back, the old lady cut it open and insisted the Longevity Peach wasn’t authentic.

Old child, little child.

Because she didn’t get to eat a satisfactory Longevity Peach, the old lady threw a tantrum.

The reunion meal, which was supposed to be enjoyable, also lost its charm.

The more the middle-aged man thought about it, the more suffocated he felt.

It wasn’t the 888 yuan that he was upset about.

It was that he wanted to please the old lady of his family, but ended up ruining it, and in frustration, all his anger was directed at this Longevity Peach.

In a fit of anger, he brought the Longevity Peach back to demand an explanation.

He couldn’t have spent money just to suffer.

The middle-aged man exclaimed angrily, ”You advertise in your restaurant that the Longevity Peach can be customized! I customized an authentic old-style Longevity Peach, but after taking it home, our old lady said it wasn’t decent at all!”

On hearing this, Yao Shi frowned.

Although the Longevity Peach isn’t as varied as birthday cakes, it still comes in quite a few types.

The shapes and fillings alone come in dozens of types.

The custom Longevity Peaches at the music restaurant are always made after clarifying everything with the customer before they are handed over to the chef.

It’s been over half a year now, and such dissatisfaction over authenticity had never occurred before.

Yao Shi couldn’t help but ask, ”Do you have the order with you?”

For custom Longevity Peaches, the customer’s requirements are meticulously noted at the time of the order.

The middle-aged man took out the order.

Yao Shi accepted it and took a close look, noticing that the customer’s requirements were indeed detailed on it.

[Old-style Longevity Peach, sweet flavor, with filling, rose petals, nuts (almonds, walnuts, peanuts...), preserved fruits (candied winter melon slices, golden thread dates, kumquat cakes...), bean paste]

The notes were quite clear. Ren Mingqing is a skilled pastry chef, experienced in making Longevity Peaches, so there shouldn’t have been any issues!

Yao Shi instructed the head server, ”Get someone to bring the Longevity Peach over, I’d like to take a look.”

The head server quickly instructed someone to bring the Longevity Peach over.

Yao Shi examined it closely.

The Longevity Peach was made of yeast dough, with fillings of rose petals, walnuts, peanuts, almonds... candied winter melon slices, golden thread dates, sugared Osmanthus...

The restaurant has always been strict about the quality of ingredients, so they definitely used quality ingredients.

And there was nothing wrong with the filling.

After reviewing it, Yao Shi couldn’t help but frown slightly.

He asked the middle-aged man, ”The ingredients used in this Longevity Peach match exactly what’s on your order. I’m not sure what exactly your family was dissatisfied with.”

The middle-aged man said, ”You’re just fooling people! Oh, so you’re just putting everything into this so-called Longevity Peach? I might as well have ordered a big bun instead!”

Still angry, the middle-aged man found himself riled up again, slapping the armrest of the chair angrily.

”What I ordered was an old-style Longevity Peach! What on earth is this?!”

”When my family’s old lady cut it open, she was so upset she couldn’t enjoy her meal. Does this look like a Longevity Peach to you? Huh!”

”Take a bite; is it a Longevity Peach or a mooncake?!!”

...

The middle-aged man ranted for a while.

In a rage, he said, ”Is this the custom Longevity Peach you advertise at your restaurant? You’re fooling the ghosts!!”

”Mingze! The boss is here, so I’m sure they’ll solve it properly. Don’t get worked up, be careful of your blood pressure!”

The middle-aged woman softly advised.

Sun Mingze came today with a belly full of anger and didn’t intend to discuss this calmly.

He was here to demand an explanation!

His family’s old lady’s good 60th birthday was messed up because of the Longevity Peach he bought.

Until he got this anger off his chest, he wouldn’t be content, and this matter wouldn’t be over!

Hearing what Sun Mingze said, Yao Shi simply reached out, broke open the undamaged part of the Longevity Peach in the box, and tasted it himself.

After tasting the Longevity Peach, there was a hint of assessment in Yao Shi’s gaze toward Sun Mingze.

The taste was fine.

The dough was chewy, and the filling was sweet and soft.

With the elderly’s birthday in mind, the nuts were ground into powder except for a few whole ones on top of the filling.

The texture was good; the craftsmanship was impeccable.

Looking at this Longevity Peach, unless the issue was the price, Yao Shi had no concerns about other aspects.

If such a delicious Longevity Peach couldn’t satisfy them...

Yao Shi examined the couple’s attire.

Could they have come here to scam us?

If they were after money, Yao Shi felt relieved; that would make it easier to handle.

With a warm and sincere attitude, Yao Shi said, ”First of all, regardless of the circumstances, since the item from our restaurant did not satisfy you, it’s a failure on our part, and I should start by apologizing.”

Sun Mingze remained unmoved.

Yao Shi continued, ”We apologize for affecting your family’s birthday celebration mood, and now, moving forward, we will find a way to make amends.”

Sun Mingze’s expression softened slightly, but he still scoffed, ”Make amends? How do you plan to make amends?”

Yao Shi said, ”Well, according to our restaurant’s policy, if a customer is dissatisfied, the entire cost of that order is refunded. Additionally, as compensation, we are willing to pay three times the amount spent. How does that sound to you?”

Customers who frequent the music restaurant are generally not short of money.

Because the prices here are indeed quite high.

So, to avoid further disputes, Yao Shi straightforwardly increased the compensation from double to triple the amount.

He felt confident that this would suffice in demonstrating his sincerity.

At this point, Fu Yu, who had been standing by watching, suddenly noticed a ”?” appearing above the middle-aged man’s head.

This indicated a task was available!

Fu Yu chose to investigate.

[Customer Sun Mingze is upset due to dissatisfaction with the Longevity Peach by an elderly family member; careful communication may trigger a side quest]

As Fu Yu was distracted by checking Sun Mingze’s task requirements, he was startled by a sudden loud outburst.

”Do you think I’m interested in a bit of compensation money? Hah!”

”I’ll tell you right now, if you can’t make the kind of Longevity Peach that my family’s old lady wants, I’ll keep coming back here to make a fuss every day! Just you watch!”
