The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 78: Chapter 77: Yulan Pheasant Slices

In the evening after getting off work, Yao Shi found Fu Yu and asked him to take a day off tomorrow.

”We got a birthday banquet order over there, the guest has booked 120 tables, the kitchen is short-handed, could you go and help out?”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yu’s eyes lit up.

Previously, Yao Shi had said he would pay him a chef’s salary.

A base salary of 5000 a month, calculated over 30 days, that’s 167.

Besides that, he gets a 10 yuan commission per table.

For 120 tables, that’s 1200 yuan!

Fu Yu could almost hear his own excited heartbeat.

The next morning, Fu Yu got up early, took two bus rides, and arrived at the music restaurant on time.

It wasn’t even eight o’clock yet, but the front desk receptionists and waiters were already in place.

As soon as Fu Yu entered, he ran into Qu Jing.

Qu Jing came over to talk to the receptionist, glanced up at Fu Yu, and greeted him with a smile, ”Chef Fu, you’re here!”

Fu Yu nodded at her, ”Good morning!”

Qu Jing gave a gentle smile and said, ”Chef Fu, I heard you’re going to be working part-time here from now on? Then we’ll be colleagues.”

After saying this, she turned with a smile and introduced to a few tall, pretty receptionists, ”This is our new chef in the kitchen, his last name is Fu. Not only is he good-looking, but his cooking skills are also exceptional! He’s a promising talent! His future is bright!”

Qu Jing naturally possessed a pair of enchanting eyes; her gaze always seemed to have a hook, and her smile was charmingly alluring, making people’s hearts flutter.

Being praised so warmly by her made Fu Yu feel like he was floating a bit.

But as soon as he remembered his measly favorability score of two, he snapped back to reality.

Yao Shi had just arrived too, and upon seeing Fu Yu, he first took him to the finance office.

”Let’s have them register your fingerprint, since you’re officially here for part-time, let’s make it formal.”

Yao Shi was doing this with his own considerations.

He hoped Fu Yu would regard the music restaurant as part of his job and not take it lightly because it’s part-time.

Besides, there was also a bit of self-interest.

After all, in terms of work environment and salary, the music restaurant is much better than Qianlima.

What if in the future, Fu Yu, after comparing the two, decides to change jobs?

Just like the sky will rain, employees will switch jobs—that’s unavoidable for anyone.

However, it’s time to mention to Dong Jun Tian about adding staff to the kitchen at Qianlima.

The business has always been good, and the kitchen staff is enough.

But now two trainees are being promoted, and soon a head chef will be elevated, then there won’t be enough hands for odd jobs.

Kitchen staff turnover is always quite high, so it’s prudent to always have at least two temporary workers as backup.

Fu Yu followed the finance staff to the clock-in machine to register his new fingerprint and facial recognition.

Once it was set up.

Fu Yu officially clocked in.

A crisp electronic voice announced, [Checked in! Thank you!]

[Ding! Daily Task: Prepare five stir-fried dishes. Task Reward: 50 RMB, +10 Stir-Fry Experience, +10 Task Experience]

Cooking stir-fried dishes?

Since today’s order is a birthday banquet, wouldn’t each table at least require ten dishes as a base?

With so many dishes, surely some will need stir-frying, so Fu Yu wasn’t too worried about it.

He actually took the daily tasks quite seriously these days.

The last chain task indicated that as long as he kept completing daily tasks, the system would likely assign special tasks periodically.

Especially since the task rewards have been very impressive.

Just like last time’s ingredient selecting skill.

Basically, it’s like hitting a jackpot!

So, Fu Yu had decided that, as long as circumstances allowed, he would strive to complete the daily tasks.

After changing clothes, when Fu Yu went to the kitchen, others were already occupied with their respective duties.

Yao Shi handed him an order slip, which was the order for this birthday banquet.

Fu Yu took it and looked through it carefully, slightly stunned.

The customer ordered a low-end menu of 1888 per table, with a total of 12 dishes.

Besides soup and dessert, there were ten dishes, but judging by the names, they were all stewed or baked, if not steamed or boiled.

Fu Yu sifted through it twice but didn’t find a single dish that required stir-frying.

”What’s wrong? Is there a problem with the order slip?”

Fu Yu held the order slip with a solemn expression, which startled Yao Shi.

Fu Yu snapped back to reality and quickly shook his head, ”No problem.”

Yao Shi was puzzled, ”Then why do you look so serious?”

Fu Yu couldn’t help but complain, ”Why did the customer choose this set! Not even a single stir-fry dish.”

Yao Shi was speechless, ”Who says there’s no stir-fry dish? This Magnolia Pheasant Slices is one.”

It was Fu Yu’s first time seeing this Magnolia Pheasant Slices.

Pheasant, even if farmed, flies and its activity level is higher than domestic chickens, so it’s mostly lean meat.

To ensure taste, it’s generally stewed or boiled.

Therefore, when he saw the dish, Magnolia Pheasant Slices, he instinctively categorized it as a stew.

As long as there is a stir-fry dish.

Fu Yu quickly volunteered, ”Great! Chef Yao, can you teach me to make this dish today?”

Yao Shi looked at Fu Yu and curiously asked, ”Why do you suddenly want to learn to stir-fry?”

The dishes in the order all need to be quickly prepared, and the kitchen chefs have long been accustomed to them, so whichever dish is assigned would be no problem.

Yao Shi hadn’t planned to restrict Fu Yu’s practice.

But he still wanted to know why Fu Yu suddenly decided to practice stir-frying.

No flattery ever fails.

Fu Yu hastily said, ”I heard from Chef Zhao that your stir-frying skills are particularly high, Chef Yao, exceptionally brilliant, so I want to learn from you.”

Actually, what Zhao Meng originally said was that Chef Yao’s skills are truly absolute, there wasn’t a single cooking method he’s not proficient in!

Yao Shi laughed heartily after hearing this, ”In fact, I’m skilled in many things, just look at this restaurant’s menu, and it’s clear.”

Fu Yu nodded, ”Chef Yao, I should really learn well from you.”

Yao Shi nodded satisfactorily, ”Alright, then today I’ll teach you to make this Magnolia Pheasant Slices.”

The pheasant was already prepared, with the thighs, wings, head, and neck all partitioned.

Only large slices of breast meat were left, stacked up high.

Yao Shi asked, ”Do you know why Qianlima doesn’t have this dish?”

Fu Yu truly didn’t know.

He initially thought it was because Qianlima is a seafood restaurant, so it didn’t have this dish.

But on reflection, it didn’t add up because Qianlima isn’t devoid of chicken stew dishes, and there are quite a few varieties.

Fu Yu shook his head, ”No idea.”

Yao Shi explained, ”For something like pheasant, the natural wild ones are protected animals, so you definitely can’t eat them, which means what’s on the market are all farmed.”

”But even among farmed ones, there are distinctions, those reared in enclosures and those free-range have different prices. The growth years and size of the pheasant also cause price variations.”
