The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 90: Chapter 89: One Should Have a Conscience

The family ancestry is the ’Gua Clan’, and the family traditions are quite traditional.

How many such families can there be in Bei’an City?

Fu Yu thought that the customer Yao Shi mentioned, who had booked a private banquet, was likely the wealthy woman he had previously served.

And since it’s an engagement banquet, it means the two families are preparing to formally unite.

Could it be them?

Probably, right?

Fu Yu asked curiously, ”Chef Yao, what’s the last name of the customer who booked the reservation at your place?”

Yao Shi casually replied, ”Surname Guan. I heard that many of the Guan family’s ancestors were Manchu descendants from the Gua Clan.”

Fu Yu nodded, feeling pretty certain.

So he asked, ”What kind of dishes do they want to adjust?”

Yao Shi took a sip of beer: ”They said nothing else on the menu would change, except for two tables that belong to the host family, which they wanted to turn into an Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet. You’ve probably never heard of it, right? Not even me—I’ve only heard about it, never seen it.”

Yao Shi didn’t mention one other thing to Fu Yu.

This customer with the surname Fang not only wanted to adjust the menu but also planned to bring their own chef.

Could he possibly agree to that?

If word got out, the restaurant’s reputation would be ruined!

The Music Restaurant became renowned in a short time due to its high-quality service, fashionable and avant-garde dining environment, and a wide variety of banquet recipes.

If outsiders knew that there was a banquet that the Music Restaurant couldn’t pull off and had to hire an outside chef to cook,

what would that do to their reputation?

Even if the restaurant’s chefs couldn’t manage it, and they really had to hire outside help, it had to be done discreetly by the restaurant itself.

How could they allow a customer to bring a chef directly from outside?

What would happen if word got out?

Seeing Yao Shi’s troubled expression, Fu Yu decided to lend a hand.

After all, Yao Shi had been quite good to him, and he even allowed him to work part-time at the Music Restaurant, offering a generous salary.

It’s important to be grateful and repay kindness.

Fu Yu volunteered, saying, ”Chef Yao, I know this customer you’re talking about, and if they want to customize an Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet, I should be able to help.”

Yao Shi smiled, ”Okay, if there’s something you can help with at that time, I’ll call on you.”

Yao Shi knew all the old customers of Qianlima, but this customer with the surname Guan was a new face.

How could Fu Yu have known them?

Yao Shi paid the bill, checked the time, and apologized to Fu Yu, ”I’ve been drinking tonight, so I can’t drive you home. You’ll have to get a cab.”

Fu Yu quickly agreed.

When the taxi arrived, Yao Shi directly scanned a hundred-yuan bill for the driver on his phone and told the driver to give the change to Fu Yu.

Fu Yu leaned on the car window, watching Yao Shi wave, feeling a warmth in his heart.

Back at the restaurant, Fu Yu first went to chat with Zhao Meng for a while, talking about his experience at the Music Restaurant.

Zhao Meng was surprised to hear Fu Yu helped make a Longevity Peach.

”You rascal! How do you dare to take on anything? When did you learn to make dough?”

Fu Yu chuckled, ”I don’t know. It’s like as soon as I stand in front of the dough, I know how to work with it. The next step just pops into my head. Maybe it’s a blessing from the culinary ancestors!”

Zhao Meng kicked him: ”Hey! I haven’t even praised you yet, and you’re already boasting!”

Fu Yu jumped up from the chair, laughing, ”I’m just speaking the truth. If you don’t believe it, there’s nothing I can do! Chef Zhao, take it easy. I’m heading back! See you tomorrow morning!!”

Fu Yu ran to the door, not forgetting to blow a kiss to Zhao Meng, and then sprinted back to his room amidst Zhao Meng’s cursing.

Zhao Meng couldn’t help but laugh, ”That brat! Always boasting to me!”

Returning to his room, Fu Yu thought for a moment, took out his phone, and found the contact information of the wealthy woman, Liu Yici, who had previously introduced him to business.

Fu Yu sent a message to Liu Yici.

[Hello, I am the chef from Qianlima Restaurant, Fu Yu.]

Liu Yici replied quickly:

[Chef Fu, I was just thinking about contacting you. What a coincidence! Are you free to talk now?]

Fu Yu replied: [Yes, I am.]

The next second, Liu Yici called via voice chat.

”Hello, Chef Fu, hehe, long time no see.”

Liu Yici was obviously in a good mood.

Fu Yu: ”Hello, Ms. Liu, you mentioned you needed to talk to me? What’s it about?”

Liu Yici laughed, ”Come on, don’t call me ’Ms.’—I’m older than you, just call me Sister Liu.”

Fu Yu obediently corrected himself, ”Sister Liu.”

Liu Yici chuckled and said, ”Here’s the thing. My best friend, you remember the one who invited you for private service last time, right?”

Fu Yu grinned; it was indeed the same person.

”Of course, Ms. Qin, right?”

Liu Yici laughed, ”Yes, it’s her. Here’s the thing: her son is getting engaged, and the venue is set at the Music Restaurant in our city. They’re trying to finalize the menu with the restaurant these days, and my friend thought that the dishes you prepared last time were quite good and wanted to invite you to come and help with two tables again.”

How perfect!

This was like having a pillow delivered when you were just about to doze off.

Fu Yu felt reassured but didn’t rush to agree, instead, he asked in detail, ”Does Ms. Qin have any specific requests?”

Liu Yici immediately said, ”No specific requests, just two tables like the ones you prepared last time, for the family. Since her in-laws have a special status, my friend wants to be extra considerate for the engagement banquet. Occupying the center, if it’s a joyous occasion, then let’s make sure to leave them fully satisfied and comfortable in every aspect.”

Hearing this, Fu Yu said, ”Alright, no problem. If it’s anything else, my culinary skills might be lacking, but I have prepared the Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet, so I should be able to manage.”

Upon hearing this, Liu Yici was delighted, ”That’s fantastic, Chef Fu. Do you have time tomorrow? My friend is in a bit of a rush since it’s a last-minute menu change, we want to settle everything sooner for peace of mind!”

Fu Yu thought for a moment. He had just taken a day off this month, so taking another day off tomorrow shouldn’t be an issue.

After brief consideration, Fu Yu said, ”Okay, then I’ll take a day off from the restaurant tomorrow, and we can meet directly at the Music Restaurant?”

Liu Yici quickly said, ”No need, I’m just passing by; I’ll pick you up in the car tomorrow.”

Fu Yu didn’t stand on ceremony, and after exchanging a few more words, he hung up the call.

Putting down the phone, Fu Yu left the room to find Zhao Meng to request leave.

Unexpectedly, Sun Qingning was also in Zhao Meng’s room.

Sun Qingning wanted to take two consecutive days off for his girlfriend’s birthday next week.

When Fu Yu heard about this, he was pleased. It worked out perfectly for him to swap shifts with Sun Qingning without affecting either of them.

In front of Sun Qingning, it was not possible for Fu Yu to mention the Music Restaurant, so he just said he wanted to take another day off tomorrow.

Zhao Meng thought he was tired today, so with Sun Qingning willing to cover the shift, he readily approved the leave.
