The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 92: Chapter 91: This Kid Can Do Anything

Despite not being in business for very long, the music restaurant has gained a bit of fame in Bei’an.

When it comes to life events like weddings and funerals, anyone in the city with a decent status and family background would first think of this place.

However, with the market continuously developing over the past two years, some newly opened large hotels and restaurants have entered the market.

Some distinctive chain dining businesses have also appeared.

The competition faced by the music restaurant has become increasingly fierce.

Although it still seems to maintain its peak level, actually, both the number of orders and the regular customer visits have noticeably declined compared to before.

As the owner of the music restaurant, Yao Shi has focused his efforts on innovating the dishes, in addition to strengthening management in the service area.

After all, in the food service industry, as long as you capture the taste and uniqueness of the dishes and further ensure the service and dining environment, there’s basically no need to worry about losing customers and reducing orders.

Since it’s about booking a table, a tasting is definitely in order.

The music restaurant charges fees for tastings according to the normal set table price.

If satisfied with the tasting, one needs to pay for it as ordered.

If there is any dissatisfaction, the dishes can be swapped freely.

Qin Yue is wealthy and doesn’t care about the costs of the tasting.

However, she had already come with her family for a tasting and had finalized the specific prices and menu.

Now, she just wants to replace two tables of dishes directly.

Relatively speaking, it’s much simpler.

Business is business.

Even though Fu Yu proves to be quite reliable, Yao Shi is still somewhat uneasy since he hasn’t seen Fu Yu make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet firsthand.

”How about this, since we’ve never made such a banquet here, why not just do it today here so we can also try the dishes,” Yao Shi suggested.

After saying this, worried that Qin Yue might disagree, Yao Shi further explained, ”Once it’s done, our back kitchen can arrange the plating based on the dishes and adjust the exact order of serving.”

Qin Yue naturally had no objections and turned to discuss with her friend Liu Yici, ”What do you think?”

Having long been curious about what exactly the eight dishes and eight bowls would be like, Liu Yici responded eagerly, ”Sure, I have nothing to do today, we’ll have lunch here then.”

Seeing the customer nod, Yao Shi quietly breathed a sigh of relief before turning and asking Fu Yu, ”Later on, you’ll head to the back kitchen to prepare a table of the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet, okay?”

Fu Yu nodded, ”No problem.”

Yao Shi was admittedly a bit curious, ”This eight dishes and eight bowls banquet, I’m not sure what ingredients are needed for it. You should come over to the back kitchen with me for a look, and if there’s anything missing, I’ll immediately have the buyer get it.”

Yao Shi had actually heard about this banquet style before and even specifically looked it up online last night.

However, the pictures online really didn’t look all that presentable.

He suspected it might be something akin to passing fish eyes for pearls, as they didn’t look like a proper banquet.

Fu Yu followed Yao Shi to the back kitchen.

Zhang Zhen was urging the staff to hurry up with the food prep, and was quite surprised when he saw Yao Shi bringing Fu Yu in.

Wasn’t this kid just here yesterday?

Why is he back today?

Wasn’t he just supposed to be here part-time?

Zhang Zhen went up and greeted Yao Shi, ”Boss!”

Yao Shi instructed, ”Fu Yu is going to be cooking shortly. Let him check if all the ingredients are here first, and inform the buyer immediately to get anything that’s missing.”

Zhang Zhen quickly agreed, ”Okay, boss.”

He then looked towards Fu Yu, ”What dishes are we making? The prepped ingredients are all here, but there are many things in the storeroom not brought over yet. If there’s anything missing, I’ll take you to the storeroom to look.”

Fu Yu smiled and said, ”Oh, I’m making the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet. I’ll first take a look around, then we can head to the storeroom.”

Even though Zhang Zhen already knew Fu Yu was here to cook, he couldn’t help but feel a bit stunned when he heard Fu Yu was going to make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet.

This kid... he can even make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet!

When Yao Shi called last night, asking if he could make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet, Zhang Zhen was quite surprised.

Who had so much free time to order such a banquet?

Zhang Zhen had heard of the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet and knew it was a Manchu specialty dish.

But knowing is one thing; let alone making it, he had never even seen it before.

Upon hearing about it initially, he just thought the name was quite distinctive and a bit curious.

But after the initial surprise, he quickly dismissed it from his mind.

After all, throughout his career, he had never seen anyone make this banquet, let alone heard of anyone ordering it.

Unexpectedly, Fu Yu actually knows how to make it!

Zhang Zhen truly found himself seeing Fu Yu in a new light.

This kid really is something!

He knows everything!

A versatile talent indeed!

No wonder the boss wants to bring him over to work here.

Zhang Zhen thought that if he were the boss, he would also be keen to get a talent like Fu Yu to work in his restaurant.

Zhang Zhen enthusiastically took Fu Yu for a look throughout the kitchen prep area.

And then they went around the storeroom.

It must be said, whether it was the back kitchen or the storeroom, the music restaurant was much more luxurious than Qianlima.

But no matter how luxurious, since it follows a high-end boutique route, the pork offal Fu Yu needed would still require the buyer to get it separately.

Fu Yu carefully listed all the ingredients he needed.

Without waiting for Yao Shi to instruct, Zhang Zhen swiftly assisted in organizing the process.

For what needed purchasing, he notified the buyer to get it promptly.

For the prep work, he instructed the staff to prepare immediately.

While Yao Shi hadn’t left yet, Zhang Zhen quickly went over to ask, ”Boss, should I assist Chef Fu while he’s cooking? It would be a good opportunity for me to learn how this eight dishes and eight bowls banquet is made?”

This was exactly Yao Shi’s intention, but this matter needed Fu Yu’s opinion.

Yao Shi’s admiration for Fu Yu now defied description with words.

He truly hadn’t expected Fu Yu could even make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet.

Be it hot dishes, cold dishes, or desserts, is there anything this kid can’t do?

Yao Shi called Fu Yu over and earnestly asked, ”Fu Yu, where did you learn to make the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet?”

Fu Yu had already prepared a response in advance and replied offhandedly, ”I previously had the chance to see it done, and just took a quick look in the back kitchen, didn’t really study it specifically, but when I was making it, somehow I just went by feel and it turned out well.”

Fu Yu modestly said, ”It was just luck. Ms. Qin’s in-laws tried it and found it alright. But I think if you were to compare it to an authentic version, there would definitely be a gap.”

Yao Shi: ”...”

Zhang Zhen: ”...”

This inexplicable feeling of being outshone, what is this?

If you were to say you learned it through your hard work and dedication under a master, maybe it would sound better.

That would at least make you seem diligent and hardworking, right?

But calling it raw talent, how on earth does that sound so disconcerting!
