The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 72: Chapter 71: Special Harvest-Style Flatbread

Fu Yu wiped the plate clean.

He began plate presentation.

The attention of the judges focused together once more.

At this moment, Yao Yihang also successfully completed his carefully crafted Russian king crab.

He was confident in his cooking techniques.

However, perhaps focusing on his work might give the judges a good first impression.

So even though he was dying to take a glimpse of the judges’ attitudes and expressions when they looked at him,

he resisted and kept his eyes firmly fixed on his cooking tools.

Now it was finally done.

He couldn’t help but excitedly lift his head, ready to meet the gaze of the judges.

Although he had been busy cooking, he could feel occasional glances in his direction.

This feeling of being watched made him somewhat nervous and a bit excited.

With high expectations, Yao Yihang lifted his head.

Then, he was stunned.

The judges were indeed focused on the kitchen counter, yet their gaze was clearly on Fu Yu standing beside him.

Feeling disappointed, Yao Yihang couldn’t help but curiously look at Fu Yu.

He had long suspected that Fu Yu was planning to make a ”Harvest Stew.”

In his view, Fu Yu making this dish during the audition was certainly bold.

Yet Fu Yu didn’t rush to serve the dish from the pot; instead, he replaced it with a washed and dried cutting board.

He poured some flour into a bowl, then added fine sugar and eggs.

Adding an appropriate amount of water, he mixed it evenly.

Then he removed the frying pan from the stove, replacing it with a flat pan.

He heated the pan, used a paper towel to dip a little salad oil, and wiped the pan bottom once.

The onlookers were collectively dumbfounded!

Li He became visibly tense, saying, ”What is he doing, it looks like he’s making pancakes, doesn’t it?”

The crowd was stunned!

”What?”

At this time, Fu Yu scooped a ladle of batter into the flat pan.

With a slight twist of his wrist, he began rotating the pan, allowing the batter to slowly spread and eventually lay flat on the pan bottom.

The crowd was dumbfounded: ”!!!”

He really is making pancakes...

Wasn’t he supposed to make Harvest Stew?

Everyone’s imagination ran wild for a moment.

Was he planning to serve it with a staple food?

Like the ”farmhouse stove” style?

As soon as the thought arose, everyone couldn’t help but exchange glances.

The contestants’ thinking was too unpredictable.

For these rule-abiding judges, it was really hard to keep up!

”Is he doing this because the Harvest Stew presentation isn’t easily eye-catching, so he’s taking a different approach?”

Li He thought about it and felt this was the only possibility.

Gao Chongbo: ”I actually think he might be planning to create a presentation effect like ’braised pork with preserved vegetables.’”

Everyone’s minds simultaneously envisioned the outcome.

Yao Shi disagreed: ”No, the plate he’s using isn’t suitable.”

After this comment, everyone frowned slightly.

Indeed.

Whether it’s the ”farmhouse stove” or the ”braised pork with preserved vegetables,” they both require serving dishes in the center with pancakes arranged around them.

But Fu Yu was preparing a long rectangular blue flat plate.

It must be said, regardless of the final outcome, Fu Yu’s move had already piqued everyone’s curiosity completely.

Fu Yu concentrated on making pancakes.

Once the batter in the pan was cooked.

The pancake turned slightly colorful, so he picked up the cooked thin pancake and placed it on the cutting board.

The moment he picked it up,

everyone was surprised to find out how thin the pancake was.

At a glance, it looked just like a piece of paper.

Moreover, it was very elastic, like a chewy pancake but with less oil.

Everyone present specialized in hot dishes and didn’t know much about pastries.

But just by looking at this technique, they knew the pancake making was incredibly skillful!

Fu Yu focused on his work.

Placing the cooked pancakes aside, he continued to brush oil and pour batter.

Back and forth, he cooked six thin pancakes before starting the plating presentation.

One thin pancake was laid flat.

The green beans were cut into small pieces and evenly spread over the pancake.

Corn was stripped into kernels, chopped, and spread over the green beans.

The thin pancake was rolled up.

The prepared pancake roll was cut into two portions.

Slanted and laid flat on the light blue flat plate.

The four-finger-wide gap left in the middle was piled high with soft, fragrant ribs.

There was a sense of layering.

Next, potatoes and pumpkins were mashed separately, placed into pastry bags, and flowers were piped onto the pancake rolls.

At the finishing touch, a few tender cilantro leaves were cleverly garnished on the ribs.

Fu Yu executed the final touches perfectly.

At this moment, although the kitchen was bustling with noise,

the judges and the other three completed contestants all fell silent.

Everyone was speechless as they silently admired the exquisite plating in front of them.

Could Harvest Stew really be plated this way?

Is this really possible?

Gao Chongbo widened his eyes excitedly and pointed to the plate.

After a long moment, he said, ”So this is how he planned to plate it! Why didn’t I think of it? This kid... really has some ideas, the creativity is not bad! He managed to transform Harvest Stew into this kind of combination! Interesting... With this tweak, the dish’s level immediately rose, didn’t it?”

It wasn’t just Gao Chongbo.

The others also couldn’t hide their amazement.

In their hearts, they simultaneously experienced: calmness... shock... touching... uncontrollable... mixed emotions... surging emotions...

What talent!

Just for this ingeniously creative plate presentation, he deserves a high score in this evaluation!

Wang Jingrui gazed at the exquisite plating in front of him and couldn’t help but say, ”This plating is indeed creative, and it’s not difficult to achieve.”

After speaking, he turned to Dong Jun Tian: ”This creativity is great! We can definitely use it to promote a new dish in the restaurant later, and the response will surely be good.”

As soon as these words were spoken!

The people nearby instantly had a gleam in their eyes!

Indeed.

For the farmhouse stove, the staple food originally paired with it was also flour-based, either pot stickers or steamed cake.

Now switching to pancakes was equally fitting.

Dong Jun Tian was delighted and couldn’t hide his satisfaction: ”Of course! This dish will be handed over to the kitchen later.”

Yet Yao Shi’s gaze towards Fu Yu was a bit complex.

He always believed that Fu Yu had a talent for culinary arts and knew he was very creative in this area.

If he hadn’t recognized this, he wouldn’t have proposed hiring Fu Yu to work part-time at the music restaurant.

But now...

Seeing Dong Jun Tian’s treasure-like expression.

Yao Shi knew that even if he genuinely wanted Fu Yu to work at the music restaurant, it was unlikely now.

Unless Fu Yu was willing to go over.

But could he disregard past favors and compete with Dong Jun Tian for talent?

Yao Shi asked himself, could he?

He sighed in his heart.

If he could truly take this step, he wouldn’t have to rush between two places now...

All four contestants had completed their assessments.

Now it was up to the judges to taste and make the final selection.
