THE GOD EATER

She also ordered her entourage of rank 4 cultivators to attack the guardians, but the two world guardians didn’t pay any attention to her or them at all. They continued to run away as if something was chasing them. This confused her because she couldn’t find any reason for them to be on the run.

It took a while for her to realize that they were running away from the rank 4 forger. When she realized this, she didn’t understand why they would do this. But understanding dawned in her when she saw the rank 4 forger slaughter the two world guardians.

It was a slaughter. The two world guardians couldn’t resist at all. They were cut down just as they were running away.

Even though the two world guardians were in a giant form, they were killed like any mortal. Then the rank 4 forger grabbed their corpses and held onto them for a while.

In that short time that he took to kill them, she was able to see why and understood why they were running away. As if it wasn’t bad enough for her to understand why two rank 5 beings would be running away from one rank 4 being, she also realized that their running wasn’t enough.

After reviewing the fight, she came to the conclusion that the speed of their running wasn’t fast enough. She thought that if they had run away at a faster speed, they might have survived.

Then she asked herself this question, ’Can I run fast enough to escape?’

She asked herself that question because after killing the two world guardians, the rank 4 forger had turned to look at her. She couldn’t see his face because he was wearing a mechanical suit, but she could tell that he was looking at her and contemplating whether to kill her or not.

At that point, she had already stopped her attempt to draw the attention of the two world guardians. She had also stopped trying to save the rank 4 cultivator. So she was just standing there, wondering if she was hallucinating or was trapped in an illusion.

She had been stunned by the turn of events. But her shock soared to unprecedented levels when the rank 4 forger that she should be protecting began to consider if he should kill her or not.

It was an absurd situation. But it was also an absurd situation that she had to take seriously. So she asked herself if she could run away fast enough.

However, she didn’t stop there. She also prepared to use her Life Ability to kill the rank 4 forger. She did this even though Kelvin had paid her to protect the rank 4 forger because she wasn’t willing to give up her life and let the rank 4 forger kill her for money.

When she used the Life’s Worth Life Ability on him, she expected the value of his life to be expensive. But what she had seen had still surprised her.

She saw Life’s Worth = ?100,000,000?(Base Value) × 16(Dao Status) × 16(Merit Mission Grade) × 1.10(Sect 10% Tax) × 4(Life Insurance Grade) = 112.640 billion energy stones

The price of 112,640,000,000 energy stones was high enough. This is something that she should expect from a very powerful rank 5 cultivator of her sect.

The fact that such a price was quoted for a rank 4 cultivator was surely out of place. It was beyond ordinary that the life of a rank 4 cultivator would cost this much, but it wasn’t what surprised her.

What she found surprising was the question marks around the base value of the life of the rank 4 forger. She was surprised because the question marks signified that the sect wasn’t sure exactly how much he was worth.

The question marks made her eyes wide in shock as if she had seen a ghost. In fact, a ghost wouldn’t shock her this much since ghosts are pretty normal and are used extensively in the Death Pathway. But this thing had shocked her far more than any abomination that death cultivators could create.

While being surprised, she tried to figure out why the sect couldn’t be sure about the value of his life but gave him the maximum base value for the life of a rank 5 cultivator. In that short amount of time that she could spend thinking, she could only come up with one plausible explanation.

As she thought of this plausible explanation, she said to herself, ’He must be the reincarnation of a divine being. He must have a Divine Metac, or his mutated Life Ability has already become a Divine Metac.’

She was still staring in shock when the meteor from the sky struck the ground, causing the mountain to erupt and collapse simultaneously.

The resulting explosion of the meteor smashing into the mountain made a lot of noise, which drew the attention of the rank 4 forger. He seemed to have stopped looking at her and turned to look in the direction of the explosion. A second later, he flew away in the direction of the explosion, leaving her with her back soaked in sweat.

Even she didn’t know that her hands were shaking in fear when he had been looking at her with ill intent. It was after he was gone that she realized that she had been very, very afraid.

She was caught off guard a little bit when she realized that she had been sweating, but it was not a reaction that she was afraid of. This was because she didn’t think it was shameful to be afraid of the reincarnation of a being that could kill her permanently and put an end to her struggle for the divine.

She wasn’t sure that he could still destroy her mental world as the reincarnation of a divine being. But she had seen him easily kill rank 5 beings, so it was highly possible that he could kill her and stop her from reincarnating with her memories and her Life Ability.
