THE GOD EATER

The seer still didn’t tell her about his suspicions. But he was sure that she wouldn’t be cowed to hear that Loki is very dangerous.

He thought that he was right to believe this because the more she heard about how strong the armored warrior was, the happier she became.

After he was done updating her about their number 1 enemy, she smashed her fists together and said in excitement, “I can’t wait.”

The other two shared a look, but they didn’t say anything about how enthusiastic the helper they found was about the possibility of fighting someone dangerous.

She truly didn’t seem to think of herself as a disposable hired thug. But it wasn’t because she was stupid and didn’t understand that the reason these two felt comfortable about using her is that they can subdue her when they need to.

She knows this, but she is still enthusiastic about the prospect of fighting such a strong foe because it will be good for her reputation.

As she thought of the benefits of the fight, she smiled and said to herself, ’And if I can defeat such a strong foe, I will be one step closer to becoming a divine being.’

In the Martial Body Sect, reputation is key. The higher one’s reputation, the higher their Dao Status. So the more people believe that they are strong and cool, the stronger they will become.

Reputation is mainly earned through feats of fighting. To ensure that their feats will gain enough exposure, every inner disciple of the Martial Body Sect can buy live streaming services from the sect.

When they buy the live streaming services, all of their actions during the period that the service is activated will be broadcast to every disciple in the sect through the sect token. So every disciple in the sect can watch them and see how cool they are.

A low-level disciple might not be able to afford this live streaming service or might not think it is worth it, but a rank 5 warrior like her must purchase the live streaming service because her reputation will determine if she will get to be a divine being or not.

When a divine being dies, the most reputable warrior with their Life Ability gets to become the next divine being for that divine position. So, reputation is very important to every warrior.

Defeat and losses affect reputation. But sometimes, defeat against strong foes can improve reputation. This is why she is so eager to fight the armored warrior.

In fact, the stronger the armored warrior is, the better it will be for her. As long as she fights well and puts up a spectacular show of it, all the people watching her live stream would think that she was cool, which would increase her reputation.

And if she somehow wins against such a strong opponent, then the boost to her reputation will be more than ordinary. So it appears that she can’t suffer any loss.

But it is not true that she can’t suffer a loss to her reputation in this arrangement. She knows that it is possible to regret going with these two for the fight.

But when she thought about the possibility of losing her reputation, she gritted her teeth and said to herself, ’As long as I fight well, everything should be fine. Even if I die, a good reputation is worth it.”

Just like the Four Directions Sect saves money for their disciples and keeps their money safe for their next life, the Martial Body Sect saves the reputation and keeps it safe for their disciples.

So even if she dies, her reputation can be saved, and she can pick it up where she left off in her next life. This makes it so that the threat of death won’t deter her from pursuing a high reputation for being strong and cool.

By doing something like this, the Martial Body Sect is actually keeping the Dao Status of their disciples for them through the various lifetimes of the disciples. This sounds good on the surface, but it has deeper negative consequences.

The first consequence is that the enemies of one’s previous lifetime will know who they are after they are reincarnated and can come after them for revenge. So any disciple who wants to use the reputation of their previous lifetimes must weigh the advantages and disadvantages before doing so.

But the most impactful disadvantage is that divine beings can save and use the reputation of their previous lifetimes. Seeing as that reputation was good enough to help them become divine beings in the past, odds are that their reputation will be better now that they can claim to have been a divine being before.

This makes it very difficult for new warriors to become divine beings. After all, new people would always have to compete with ancient people with more experience, more feats, and a better reputation.

It would take luck and a lot of hard work over tens of lifetimes for someone like her to acquire an unparalleled reputation. Oftentimes, she will need to fight suicidal fights like this for her reputation. After all, without taking risky chances like this, what hope does she have of becoming a divine being?

This is a question that she has asked herself several times. Her question to this question has always been to say, “Unless a divine being dies forever and unless I farm reputation for over 50 lifetimes and 1,500 years, I won’t stand any chance.”

“So the armored warrior, whoever you are, you have to be very strong. And if you kill me, at least make it a cool death.”

The armored warrior that she was talking about was being chased by a world guardian. The world guardian in question was the world guardian of light.

He has just broken into the innermost place of a city in search of a world guardian. The good news is that he found a world guardian there. The bad news is that the world guardian he found is troublesome to deal with.
