THE GOD EATER

Waiting sounded good, but when he thought about waiting for their positions to be revealed before hunting them, he frowned and said, “But waiting can lead to unfortunate circumstances.”

“I have already killed two world guardians. Who is to say that the other rank 5 cultivators won’t kill world guardians too?”

“If they kill all the world guardians, I won’t be able to upgrade the other three energy chambers. So I can’t wait until their position is exposed to hunt them. I have to go hunt them now.”

After making up his mind about this, he took to the air in search of more world guardians. On his way to find a world guardian, he thought about what made the world guardians special and appetizing to Fenrir, while other rank 5 cultivators didn’t.

According to the memories of bird people that he had scanned, he knows that only ranks 1 to 4 are normal in this world. They call these ranks the novice rank, the adept rank, the elite rank, and the master rank.

The master rank is the limit of what the creatures of this world can achieve. In order to make progress after reaching this point, masters must draw the attention of the will of the world.

Only when the will of the world is paying attention to someone will they have the chance to advance. Then the will of the world will observe the master for a while.

If the will of the world approves of them and there is an opening for a world guardian, the will of the world will pick them to take up that position and become the world guardian. The people of this world accomplish this by taking part in a grand competition.

The competition is usually hosted by the world king after the death of a world guardian. It is so grand that it takes at least a year to prepare for it. In that year, masters from all over the world will have time to hear about the competition and congregate to participate in it.

Only the masters with the same calling or elemental affinity as the dead world guardian can replace the dead world guardian. So not every master in the world will participate in the competition.

Usually, the person who can prove themselves to be better than every other master in the world will gain the approval of the will of the world and get to become the new guardian. Unless the final winner has done something to anger the will of the world, the final winner always gets to become the new world guardian.

As he thought of this, he said to himself, “This method of advancing to rank 5 is probably why they are so special. Advancing to rank 5 in the Blessed Heaven World is also complicated, but we don’t need anyone’s permission to advance.’

’The will of the world gave the masters something that helped them advance. That thing is probably what makes them appetizing to Fenrir and why my energy well can improve like this.’

’I wonder what that thing that the will of the world gave the masters is. I also wonder how different it is from the world heart fragment that rank 4 cultivators need to advance to rank 5.’

’There is also the fact that the Dragon Heart and the power core of world guardians both improve talent. Does that make Dragon Heart and the power core of guardians the same thing? Are dragons also creatures who are special because of the favor of the world?’

’Also, why can’t the rank 5 of the Blessed Heaven World receive the favor of the world and advance like this? Is it because of something that the divine beings did?”

He clearly doesn’t know a lot of things. One of the things that he didn’t know was that as soon as he sealed the power core of the world guardian of light and devoured it, the will of the world became angry with him.

Then, when he devoured the power core of the world guardian of nature, the will of the world lost its patience with him. It immediately asked every world guardian to go after him.

The will of the world had been silenced, so it couldn’t do anything to him directly. But this was exactly what it had world guardians for. The world guardians were there to help defend the world when the will of the world cannot.

Since this was a very serious problem and Loki was a serious danger to the well-being of the world, the will of the world had every world guardian still capable of fighting, except the three in charge of protecting the symbol of authority, to kill him.

He had killed two world guardians. One world guardian was killed by the death cultivator, and one was crippled after betraying the world. This left five world guardians still capable of fighting.

Three of these five were protecting the symbol of authority, so only two world guardians were free to attack him. And even though two world guardians just failed to kill him, the will of the world was still adamant about killing him, so it sent those two to kill him.

The main help that the will of the world could render was to provide the two world guardians with detailed information about everything he was capable of and had done. This way, they would be better prepared to fight him.

The other help that the will of the world was able to render was to keep track of his position and tell the two world guardians. So the two world guardians will always be able to find him.

While Loki was wondering what made the world guardians of this world special and looking for world guardians to kill, he didn’t know that world guardians were pursuing him. This made it so that the position of hunter and prey was uncertain.

But before these two world guardians could reach him, a mountain in the distance began to erupt.
