THE GOD EATER

He was being serious, but what he said made the deceiver chuckle and say, “A Divine Metac could explain a lot of things. But that doesn’t mean those things are necessarily caused by Divine Metacs.”

When the seer glared at him, he explained by saying, “Divine Metacs are too rare. It is more likely that he is just stronger than you.”

The seer had to nod his head in agreement and say, “That’s true. Since he could kill Sheila, it is most likely that he is very powerful.”

The deceiver also said in agreement, “He must be so powerful that even after copying his skill, she couldn’t match him.”

The seer was silent and looked like he agreed. But only he knew that he still wasn’t so sure about this conclusion.

He has reasons to believe that the armored warrior is related to the divine in some way and possesses some sort of divine power. This is because Sheila had disappeared after she was killed.

Sheila shouldn’t have disappeared like that, even after she died, because her Mental World should have existed for a while longer after her death. But it seemed that something had made her Mental World also disappear along with her death.

As far as he knows, only divine beings can destroy Mental Worlds. Even the most powerful Mind Hunters should only be able to sever the connection between the Mental World and the body. This is why he believes that the armored warrior should have a power that mortals shouldn’t have.

But if he is right and the armored warrior has some sort of divine power, then either the armored warrior has a Divine Metac or has power so great that no mortal can withstand.

As he thought of this, he said to himself, “It could also be both. He could have great power and a Divine Metac.”

But he didn’t say any of these to the deceiver because he didn’t want to scare the deceiver too much.

He felt that he had already reached the limit of what the deceiver could handle by telling him how Sheila had died. If he said that it was likely for the deceiver to also be killed, then it is foreseeable that the deceiver wouldn’t want to fight anymore.

So he could only keep his thoughts and suspicions to himself. But he wasn’t willing to give up on thinking about his suspicions for now.

He was still thinking about the possible sources of the power of the armored warrior when they came upon their last helper.

This person was a warrior. She was wearing shorts and had bound her chest tightly with a strip of cloth. Aside from these two things, she wasn’t wearing anything else.

Her hair was long, messy, and it covered her face. Her frazzled hair combined well with the tattoos on her body to give her a wild, barbaric look.

She was sitting on the ground by a lake, fishing, when they arrived. She looked up once when she noticed them. But she quickly returned her attention to fishing.

The deceiver secretly said to the seer through communication of their mental worlds, “Is this the helper you found or an enemy that you want us to kill? Either one is fine, as it will be easy to get rid of her when we are done using her.”

The seer rolled his eyes as he said in reply, “Being able to get rid of her easily is just a coincidence. The real reason I picked her is that we don’t have an option.”

“Aside from us three, the only rank 5 cultivators still alive belong to the Four Directions Sect. The rest are all dead.”

The deceiver clicked his tongue in wonder before saying, “I am not surprised that they are all dead. After all, if Sheila can die, then no one is safe.”

“But I am still surprised that they died like that. What has it been? Just three days since the Heavenly Battlefield started? At the rate that we rank 5 are dying, the world guardians might actually win.”

The seer ignored him and said to the warrior, “Want to fight?”

She raised an eyebrow at him before saying, “What kind of fight?”

He replied, saying, “A fight against a worthy foe. If you bring him down, it will be incredibly cool.”

She still didn’t believe him, so she returned her attention to her fishing rod as she said, “What makes him a worthy foe?”

The seer said, “He killed Sheila.”

This time, the warrior broke into a smile. Then she began laughing.

As she laughed, she threw her fishing rod aside and stood up to strike a cool pose. She held her waist as she laughed out loud with all of her strength.

After laughing, she said, “That’s the best news I’ve heard all day. Not only is Sheila dead, but I get to fight the person who killed her. What could be better than that?”

Then she clapped her hands and said to the seer, “Now, tell me everything you know about him.”

When the deceiver heard what she said about Sheila’s death being good news, he chuckled and said secretly to the seer, “Look, it is another person who hates Sheila. I wonder why so many people hate her.”

“But what I find funny about this is that you are using one of Sheila’s haters to replace her. Sheila will really roll over in her grave if she hears about this.”

The seer ignored the jabs and thought to himself, ’I hope I don’t regret this.’

Then he said to the enthusiastic warrior, “Let’s talk on the way. We have a long way to go, and it would be better for us to get there as soon as possible.”

The warrior nodded in understanding before flying over to the two of them. Then the three of them flew in the direction of Mount Iris.

On their way there, the seer told her everything he knew about the armored warrior.
