The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 449: Chapter 262: Returning to the Bloody Crime Scene

At this moment, sitting in the audience were Mr. Zhang, Mr. Ma, and Li Jian, all of whom were key figures in the investigation of this case back in the day.

They had traversed the criminal investigation field for many years, solving countless major cases, yet were now left dumbfounded by Jiang An’s insights.

It must be said that Jiang An’s analysis was penetrating, starting from the subtle characteristics of individual suspects.

Whether it was the complex trace distribution at the physical crime scene or seemingly insignificant items like garbage cans and clothes nearby.

Not a single detail was overlooked, everything was included within the scope of consideration and underwent a comprehensive and thorough assessment.

Mr. Ma slightly furrowed his brows, rhythmically tapping his fingers on the table, creating a crisp sound.

He asked in a deep voice, ”Comrade Jiang An, how did you conclusively rule out the possibility of the killer cleaning the scene?”

Jiang An appeared calm, nodding slightly without haste.

He was not unprepared for this question.

On the contrary, he had deliberated on it repeatedly in careful thought.

”Mr. Ma!”

”The layout of the rooms on the second floor appeared almost identical at first glance, with a similar decor style overall.”

”Fortunately, the crime scene investigators at the time worked meticulously.”

”Not only did they preserve high-resolution photos of the central scene inside the room, but also took photos of other rooms on the same floor for comparison.”

As he spoke, he skillfully moved the mouse.

The projector displayed a series of photos of other rooms.

Then he said, ”At the time of the incident, indeed, no trash was found in the central area of the scene.”

”However, upon comparison, it can be found that the trash bins in other rooms were also empty.”

”Furthermore, they were spotlessly clean.”

”This indicates that this room didn’t exhibit a cleanliness that was noticeably abnormal.”

”Moreover, if the killer deliberately tried to cover his tracks, then why leave out the first floor?”

”Logically speaking, if they were going to clean thoroughly, the first floor should also be attended to simultaneously; such selective attention doesn’t make sense.”

Jiang An paused slightly, surveying the room with a determined gaze.

”So, considering all the signs from the scene, I remain steadfast in my initial fundamental judgment.”

”In this case, the suspect has a significant relationship with victim number two — it’s far from a mere physical transaction and is highly likely to involve a romantic relationship akin to that of a couple.”

These words were like a bombshell dropped on a calm lake, instantly turning the direction of the investigation upside down.

The initial conclusion of a bloody crime triggered by a dispute over prostitution fees.

Now, under Jiang An’s meticulous reasoning, pointed instead to a complex emotional entanglement between a man and a woman.

Mr. Bai nodded slightly, speaking softly: ”Mr. Zhang, did you conduct an in-depth investigation into the personal lives of the two victims in this case back then?”

Mr. Zhang appeared slightly grave, nodding in response: ”After the incident, we immediately focused on a comprehensive investigation around the victims’ relationships, finances, and disputes over prostitution fees, among other aspects.”

”Regrettably, we achieved no results, as if trapped in a fog with no direction.”

Mr. Bai nodded again, his gaze full of approval: ”It’s indeed necessary to re-examine this line of inquiry thoroughly.”

”Jiang An’s analysis just now was clear, logically sound, and highly persuasive.”

”I’ve been in the criminal investigation field for many years, handling countless cases.”

”I deeply understand that the perpetrator is most likely someone familiar to the victim to be able to commit the crime from a close distance without the victim having the power to resist.”

”For women, particularly when in close contact with strangers, the body’s instincts tend to trigger mechanisms of resistance and distancing.”

”However, in this case, victim number two was naked and lying on the bed with no defenses.”

”If not a frequent business client, it is highly likely that they are someone with an exceptionally intimate relationship.”

Having received such recognition from the field’s authority, Mr. Bai, Jiang An felt a surge of excitement inside.

Yet he suppressed his excitement, maintaining a calm exterior.

Being able to shine in front of veterans like Mr. Zhang, Mr. Ma, and others was both an aspiration of his original intent and a mission of responsibility.

Jiang An took a deep breath and continued to elaborate: ”I deduce that the probable motive of this case stems from an emotional dispute.”

”Finally, let me focus on discussing the nature of this case.”

”Previously, I heard from a senior that this case might be a violent crime triggered by a dispute over prostitution fees.”

”Now, in my opinion, this possibility is extremely slim.”

”As I just said, the likelihood that the suspect knew both victims is great, especially with victim number two.”

”Therefore, the occasion of nude contact emerged, making the suspicion of a romantic relationship difficult to dismiss.”

”As for the nature of the death in this case.”

”I believe the possibility of a crime of passion is very high, with the primary target perhaps being victim number two.”

”Victim number one might simply have been caught up in it, becoming a casualty as a matter of convenience.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang An’s gaze settled hawk-like on the bottom right of the PowerPoint presentation.

”By saying ’as a matter of convenience,’ I mean that in killing victim number one, Yang Xiu, the perpetrator might have been hiding such a motive.”

The crowd followed Jiang An’s pointed direction.

A photo of a drawer was clearly displayed on the projector.

On the bar counter, there were three drawers lined up, with only the bottom one being open.

According to Zhang Yuan’s prior explanation, the drawer originally contained some cash.

But now it had been stolen, and as to the specific amount, due to the elapsed time and missing clues, it’s currently untraceable.

After observing for a moment, Captain Li Jian, with eyes full of vigor, asked, ”Are you suggesting that this man killed victim number one, Yang Xiu, with the motive of robbery?”
