The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 439: Chapter 257: The First Exceptional Promotion

After this case, Mr. Ma’s eyes lit up.

Jiang An appeared like a new star rising suddenly in the sky of criminal investigation, dazzling and cutting through the fog of unsolved cases.

In fact, at their first meeting, Mr. Ma had already noticed the hidden brilliance in Jiang An.

As the case progressed, this brilliance became even more dazzling, and his case-solving skills amazed everyone every time.

Mr. Ma secretly made up his mind to cultivate this promising talent.

The reason he considered giving Jiang An the position of deputy captain of the criminal investigation team was as clear as day to Mr. Ma.

The key is to give this ”thoroughbred” a suitable ”bridle.”

To give him stronger motivation to forge ahead.

After all, the short-sighted behavior of ”wanting the horse to run and not letting it graze” is absolutely not his leadership style.

That would be like cutting off one’s own arm, and Mr. Ma was too shrewd for that.

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Ma took a deep breath.

He rubbed his slightly throbbing temples and then tidied his clothes, preparing for his speech at the afternoon meeting.

At 3 PM, in the leadership meeting room.

Mr. Ma straightened his back and gazed firmly at everyone present.

He said in a deep voice, ”Although Jiang An is young, his case-solving ability rivals that of a veteran police detective!”

”Every case he’s handled has been exceptional.”

”Since he joined our criminal investigation team in Jiangcheng City, the efficiency of our case-solving and crackdowns has surged like bamboo shoots after a rain.”

”It’s no exaggeration to say that compared to now, the speed and quality of past criminal investigations were nowhere near as good, achieving a qualitative leap.”

”Regarding this point, Mr. Zhang and all the deputy directors here surely have heard as well.”

”That’s exactly why, in the past half-year, the criminal investigation team has repeatedly won collective third-class honors twice and individual third-class honors more than a dozen times.”

”These fruitful achievements are mainly due to the outstanding performance of the frontline criminal investigation.”

”And Comrade Jiang An is undoubtedly the most dazzling stone in this great wall.”

After finishing his words, he slightly turned and glanced at Mr. Zhang, who sat in the main seat with a solemn expression, a hint of expectation in his eyes.

Mr. Zhang nodded slightly, his chin raised, silently expressing his agreement.

The other deputy directors present noticed this and began to nod in understanding.

For a moment, the meeting room was so quiet that only the faint sound of breathing remained, and no one raised any objections.

After a brief pause, Mr. Ma continued, ”I myself crawled and fought hard in the criminal investigation team.”

”The storms of those years are still vivid in my memory.”

”Back then, I led the criminal investigation team into battle and thought we were quite capable.”

”But compared to our current team, strong and full of elites, we were truly far behind.”

”From a work perspective, I have always believed that merit brings position.”

”Therefore, I propose making Jiang An the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, allowing him to hone his leadership skills and lead the team into battle, fight crime, and provide the citizens of Jiangcheng with a peaceful sky.”

The deputy directors in the meeting room began murmuring to each other, some frowning slightly, deep in thought.

Others nodded slightly, as if weighing the pros and cons.

A few leaned towards their neighbors, whispering something quietly.

Sitting in the main seat, Mr. Zhang also frowned slightly.

His left hand gently tapped the table, making a rhythmic ”tap tap” sound, his eyes deep in thought.

After a while, Mr. Zhang rubbed his teacup and said, ”Jiang An? The serial case he solved last month... indeed was impressive.”

”But to directly promote him to deputy captain...”

Seeing Mr. Zhang’s hesitation, Mr. Ma became anxious and quickly added, ”Mr. Zhang! To be honest, I’m not the kind of old fool who blindly favors young people.”

”Nor do I let sentimentality guide me just because I was once a police detective, favoring detective talent for promotion.”

”If he has a title, it’s like a soldier having a shiny medal; his sense of responsibility and motivation for work would undoubtedly increase significantly.”

”Moreover, in future exchanges and coordination with criminal investigation personnel from other cities and states, showing up with a substantial deputy captain makes the process much smoother.”

”This greatly benefits Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation in terms of external communication.”

Mr. Zhang’s knuckle-tapping on the table suddenly stopped, and his brow furrowed.

Just as he was about to speak, Mr. Ma, like a fast-tempered firecracker, hurriedly interjected, ”Mr. Zhang! You used to oversee me, served as my deputy director, and those years of struggle together are unforgettable.”

”You must still remember, when I was the captain of the criminal investigation team, I had several unresolved murder cases haunting me, like a nightmare, every night restless.”

Hearing this, Mr. Zhang gently nodded, a trace of reminiscence flashing in his eyes.

He slightly tilted his head back, seemingly lost in memories of the past.

Back then, when Mr. Ma was the captain of the criminal investigation team, Mr. Zhang was the supervising deputy director.

He knew there were four unsolved cases during his period overseeing law enforcement interventions.

Especially the case of the two murdered parlor girls, it was always like a thorn in his throat, with each recollection causing him distress and anguish.

Seeing the change in Mr. Zhang’s expression, Mr. Ma continued, ”This time, a higher-level task force has been sent to supervise unsolved murder cases, specifically monitoring tough cases.”

”Jiangcheng accumulated ten unsolved cases with no leads.”

”If this year, these ten unsolved cases don’t achieve a breakthrough.”

”Then our performance ranking in criminal investigations for Jiangcheng City this year will face a veto, the consequences of which are simply unimaginable!”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Zhang’s expression turned solemn.

After all, as the chief of the Public Security Bureau, he placed special emphasis on performance assessment.
