The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 418: Chapter 247: The Mysterious Phone Number!

Quickly, Wan drove the police car, racing down the road.

He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed intently on the road ahead.

They first delivered this minute trace evidence to the Jiangcheng City Forensic Identification Center.

Then, the four of them hurriedly drove to the Dongjiang River where the corpse was discovered.

At 3 p.m., at the Dongjiang River Bridge.

The four got out of the car and saw the river’s waters surging relentlessly.

Wan couldn’t help but click his tongue, pointing at the river and saying, ”Captain, with such a rapid river, if the body were floating on it, the distance wouldn’t be ordinary.”

”With this river’s flow rate, estimating under normal circumstances...”

Li Jian listened and gently nodded, folding his arms across his chest, slightly tilting his head as his eyes followed the river’s flow.

Although he wasn’t very familiar with this hydrological environment, the flow rate of the river before him was enough to give him some intuitive sense.

Li Jian spoke, ”For now, we can confirm that the body was likely fished out here.”

”So, where exactly was the body retrieved? We need to look for it based on the map later.”

As he spoke, he glanced at Jiang An.

Jiang An’s gaze was solemn, with brows tightly furrowed.

At that moment, his eyes were fixed intently on the river’s surface.

Li Jian turned to ask, ”Brother Jiang An, what do you suggest for our next steps?”

Unintentionally, Jiang An had become the core figure of the team.

Jiang An pondered for a moment, rubbing his chin with one hand, and slowly spoke, ”I think the urgent task now is to search along the route for possible drowning points.”

Zhang Yean stepped forward, approaching Jiang An, ”With the river water so turbulent now, do you think we need to check with the water company to understand the flow rate for further calculation?”

Li Jian listened and thought there was some sense in it.

However, just as he was about to speak, Jiang An lightly shook his head.

Jiang An raised his hand a bit, saying, ”Mr. Li, brother, this river flows through several cities.”

”And it runs through the entire Jiang City District.”

”According to forensic research, once a corpse falls into the water, it won’t float up immediately.”

”It’s very likely to sink to the bottom and only float up after a long time.”

”Therefore, purely calculating the flow rate would result in significant errors.”

Then, he turned to the group, his gaze firm.

”Captain, I suggest we split into two groups to search along the river upstream for suspicious drowning points.”

Wan suddenly frowned, showing a troubled expression.

He scratched his head and said, ”If we investigate this way now, won’t it be inaccurate?”

”There are many anglers by the river, and their floating traces and trampling marks can easily interfere with judgments.”

Zhang Yean and Li Jian listened and agreed there was some truth to it.

Instantly, the gaze of the three fell on Jiang An.

Jiang An remained calm and patiently explained, ”Brother, what you said just now makes sense.”

”Indeed, anglers will leave traces of collapsed grass on the shore.”

”However, let’s not forget, a very important point is that traces left by fishing are usually orderly and strip-like.”

”Moreover, trampling causes the grass to collapse in a non-chaotic manner.”

”But if two people were struggling there, the traces would be very chaotic.”

After a brief pause, Jiang An continued, ”From the examination of the corpse, we can confirm that the deceased entered the water alive, and during the process of falling into the water, there should have been intense grabbing and pulling.”

”So, while searching on both sides later, we must pay attention to whether the trampling traces are chaotic.”

Captain Li Jian lightly nodded.

He gave a thumbs up to Jiang An, saying, ”It makes sense.”

”If it was just an individual falling into the water and discarding the body, it might be hard to judge.”

”But in this case, with two people struggling, the area of collapsed grass would surely be large, and the traces very apparent.”

”This is the key basis for our distinction moving forward.”

Zhang Yean smiled slightly, ”Junior, as expected of you, being able to discern such small details and use them as key analytical points—I truly admire it.”

Jiang An smiled humbly and scratched the back of his head, ”Senior sister, you’re too kind, this is just a proposed method of distinction, whether it’s effective or not depends on the upcoming field investigation.”

Li Jian happily arranged, clapping his hands, ”Alright, I’ll team up with Wan, and Zhang Yean with Jiang An.”

”Let’s search separately on both sides of the Dongjiang River, exchanging information anytime.”

Immediately, the two groups split up, descending from the bridge to the riverbank to begin their search.

At this time, it was afternoon, and the glaring sunlight struck directly, burning the skin painfully.

In the woods by the river, the heat was stifling and suffocating.

There was no wind at all, only the endless buzzing of cicadas.

The weeds by the river grew tall and dense, and walking in felt like being trapped in a green swamp, each step requiring significant effort.

Some grass blades were sharp like knives; just a gentle swipe could leave a bloody mark on the skin.

Yet even so, Wan waved his arms, clearing the weeds before him, mumbling, ”This damned place, it’s really killing me.”

Li Jian, on the other hand, bent down to carefully examine every patch of grass, occasionally using his hand to touch the blades to check for any anomalies.

Sweat drenched his shirt, but he paid no mind.

At that moment, across the river, Jiang An walked at the forefront, his eyes like torches, not missing any corner.

Zhang Yean followed closely, holding a simple tool, ready to dig at any suspicious spot.
