Chapter 444: Chapter 259: This Case Is Far from Ordinary (Part 2)

”The comparison of different footprints can lead to elimination conclusions.”

”However, the comparison of identical footprints cannot lead to the same identification.”

”Therefore, footprint comparison has limited value.”

Soon after, Zhang Yean continued pressing the button in her hand, causing the photos to keep scrolling.

She continued, ”The above is the situation on the first floor.”

”This is a photo of the staircase from the first floor to the second floor.”

”At that time, we didn’t notice much unusual in the staircase.”

”After the scene investigation, no blood was found on the stair handrails.”

Then, on the projector screen, the layout photo of the second floor was displayed.

”There are three partitions on the second floor, each containing a bed.”

”After investigation, these were the rooms used by the women for receiving clients.”

”The second victim, Li Hong, aged 21, was found lying on the bed in the innermost room.”

Next came the photo showing the appearance of the partition.

Wooden doors, wooden partitions.

The partitions only provide visual concealment and offer no soundproofing.

Following that, a photo appeared on the projector screen.

In the image, Li Hong could be seen lying naked on the bed.

”This is the original photo of the deceased Li Hong’s death.”

”Her clothes were placed beside her.”

Zhang Yean slightly turned her head, avoiding direct gaze at the photo, her face showing a hint of reluctance.

”According to the forensic inference, the cause of death of the deceased was mechanical asphyxia caused by neck compression.”

”Moreover, the characteristics of mechanical death are very obvious.”

Next, the same page of the PowerPoint showed a photo of the conjunctiva of the deceased’s eyes.

The dense petechial hemorrhages on the conjunctiva indicate that the deceased had strong vital signs at the time.

”After forensic examination of the body, it was found that the deceased had compression marks only on the neck.”

”Upon opening the back muscles of the dead, the forensic pathologists found bruising on the shoulder muscles on both sides of the deceased.”

”However, there were no injury marks visible on the back of the body.”

”For the bleeding found, it is inferred that it might be caused by external force hitting the back.”

Following this, a series of graphs on the examination results of physical evidence were presented.

”During the examination of the corpse, physical evidence was extracted from inside the deceased.”

”Traces of mixed sperm from males were detected in both female victims.”

”However, these mixed profiles resulted in the identification of four male DNA profiles.”

Zhang Yean frowned slightly and continued, ”At first, the task force thought this was a case triggered by a dispute over payment for services.”

”After extracting four male DNA profiles, we conducted database comparisons and successfully matched two individuals.”

”After investigation, these two had visited a salon two days prior to the case incident.”

”But during the time of the incident, they were both out of town, without any time to commit the crime.”

”Additionally, no significant clues were derived from the DNA of the other two males, so there are no definitive comparison results.”

Then, a series of photos from the corpse examination were shown.

In the images, two female corpses were laid on the autopsy table at the forensic examination center.

The corpse of Yang Xiu, labeled number one, showed significant signs of blood loss, with pale skin, shallow discolorations, and severe internal organ ischemia.

The corpse of number two, Li Hong, had obvious signs of bruising, with heavily discolored skin areas.

Moreover, the deceased’s internal organs had numerous petechial hemorrhages, with significant congestion in the kidneys and liver.

This was clearly a significant characteristic of mechanical asphyxia death.

Finally, Zhang Yean reported, ”This is the situation regarding the crime scene investigation and corpse examination, next is the result of our interviews and surveys.”

”After the investigation, we checked 1,000 nearby male residents and didn’t find any suspicious individuals.”

”Owing to the light rain on the night of the incident, visibility was extremely poor, compounded by the sparse monitoring layout in Jiangcheng at that time.”

”There was only one camera at the entrance of the street.”

”However, due to the limited resolution of the camera, no valuable evidence was found.”

”Even after two months of relentless effort by the task force, there were no significant breakthroughs.”

”Investigations were consistently conducted along the lines of a blood case caused by a dispute over payment for services.”

”Additionally, there was a significant potential for individuals to have committed the crime while transient.”

Finally, Zhang Yean said in a solemn voice, ”Leaders, this is all the information regarding the case.”

”If further materials are needed, please refer to the case files, which contain more detailed content.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Bai, Mr. Yang, and Mr. Zhang all nodded in agreement.

Sitting opposite, Mr. Ma stubbed out his cigarette and leaned forward slightly.

He placed his interlocked hands on the table and said with a sense of reflection, ”A lot of police resources were devoted by our Jiangcheng to this case at the time.”

”At that time, I was also the head of the criminal investigation team, and Mr. Zhang was our deputy director in charge.”

”After the occurrence of the case, the Jiangcheng City Bureau attached great importance, forming a special investigation group and deploying an elite team to investigate.”

At this point, a glint of reminiscence crossed Mr. Ma’s eyes, as if he was back in the tense and hectic scenes when the case first broke out.

”At that time, according to the findings of the special task force, these two female victims were from Chuan City and Yue City, respectively.”

”Both were out-of-town individuals engaging in special service industries here, with very complicated interpersonal relationships.”

”They interacted with people from various backgrounds, without any fixed friends or relatives.”

”This tremendously increased the difficulty of our investigation.”

”In separate investigations into the victims’ interpersonal relationships, emotional disputes, and debt disputes, no significant contradictions were found.”

”Therefore, it was concluded through discussion that this was a blood case resulting from a service payment dispute.”

Mr. Ma sighed slightly, an expression of helplessness in his eyes.

He went on to say, ”However, even after more than two months of effort, nothing of significant value was found.”

At last, Mr. Ma raised his head, looking earnestly at the three directors.

”Thank you very much to the three senior leaders for visiting Jiangcheng to guide the investigation of this difficult case.”

”Lastly, humbly seeking your guidance.”

Hearing this, Mr. Bai nodded.

The other two directors also nodded gently.

However, the facial muscles of all three were tense, their expressions somewhat grave.

After a brief pause, Mr. Bai broke the silence by gently tapping the case file on the desk.

He pressed the case file cover softly with his right palm and tapped it twice lightly, flipping through the file, his fingers idly flipping through the pages.

”Having heard Xiao Zhang’s introduction earlier, I gained a preliminary understanding of this case.”

”Now, I’ll share some of my thoughts.”

”Of course, these are not any precious suggestions, just questions I’ve found in my heart.”

”I believe questions will lead us to the answers.”

Mr. Ma sat up straighter, his back leaving the chair, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

He quickly said, ”Mr. Bai, please go on, we’re all looking forward to your insights.”

Mr. Bai gave a slight nod, his chin dipping gently.

He unhurriedly said, ”There are two deceased, both involved in special service professions.”

”Comparing the two, I noticed.”

”Their modes of death are different.”

”The death locations are different.”

”The times of death are also different.”

”Although earlier you indicated in the PPT that the times of death were very close, not exceeding two hours apart.”

”In such a specific space-time setting, why do the two individuals have these three differences and distinctions?”

While speaking, the two sitting nearby also nodded in agreement.

Mr. Yang softly echoed, ”Mr. Bai, these questions are indeed peculiar.”

Saying this, Mr. Yang leaned slightly forward, eyes intently focused on Mr. Bai.

Then, Mr. Bai continued, ”Regarding the determination of the nature of death earlier, do you think you need to reconsider?”

”For deaths involving women in this special industry, disputes over payment for services are the most common cause.”

”However, we should not let the conventional occurrences of such cases constrain our way of thinking.”

Hearing this, Mr. Ma across became instantly interested.

For Mr. Bai’s direction differed from the path initially followed during the investigation.

Aware of this, Mr. Ma encouraged, ”Please continue, Mr. Bai.”

Mr. Bai’s lips curled slightly, his eyes flashing with insight.

Unhurriedly, he continued, ”We need to ask why they were there?”

”Why did the suspect use a different method for each killing?”

”Why did the murderer choose different locations and leave at different times?”

”These differences make this case very distinct from any similar case we’ve seen.”
