The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 438: Chapter 256: Promoted to Deputy Captain of Criminal Investigation (Part 2)

Jiang An turned his head to glance at Li Jian.

Li Jian gently nodded, his eyes filled with affirmation and approval.

Immediately afterward, Jiang An raised his hand and tapped the microphone.

He sincerely said, ”I would like to thank Mr. Ma and Li Jian for giving me the opportunity to meet all of you, the reporters present.”

”To be honest, my heart is still very excited at this moment.”

”Being a police officer has always been my dream.”

”When I was a child, I saw Black Cat Detective, and as I grew up, I watched ’Crime Scene Investigation’ and ’Forensic Qin Ming.’

”Now, I am a forensic pathologist myself.”

”But I have always believed that forensic pathologists are also part of the police.”

”On the path of defending the rights of the living and speaking for the dead, there is a better platform and more favorable conditions to participate in crime-solving.”

After a brief pause, he said, ”Since coming to the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Department, I’ve always been growing under the care of Mr. Ma and Li Jian.”

”I, too, was once a naive youth, but after truly stepping into the field of criminal investigation, I slowly realized that combating crime and solving cases is not a simple task.”

”Behind every case, there are many challenges and difficulties.”

”Of course, the resolution of every case is a result of our collective effort.”

”Take the case before us, for instance; it also underwent a long period of assessment and analysis in the early stages.”

”Within our Jiangcheng criminal investigation team, everyone has made significant contributions to this case.”

”Whether it is scene investigation, autopsy, or interviews and inquiries, they are all part of these achievements.”

Then, he turned his head to look at Mr. Ma.

”Just as Mr. Ma always taught us.”

”Success doesn’t necessarily have to come from me, but I must be part of it.”

”Therefore, in the future, as I continue on the path of combating crime and maintaining social stability, I will persist in my original intention and mission, uphold my sacred duties and responsibilities, and strive to contribute more to the peace of Jiangcheng.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire venue was filled once again with enthusiastic applause.

This round of applause sounded louder and lasted longer.

Everyone turned their eyes to Jiang An.

Everyone remembered this young and innocent face.

Of course, they also used their cameras and lenses to capture that passionate moment.

The afternoon press conference continued until four thirty.

After the conference concluded, Mr. Ma came to Li Jian’s office.

Li Jian hurriedly gave up his seat for his mentor.

”Teacher, have some tea, this is the latest green tea I just bought from the neighboring city.”

The press conference was completely finished, and Mr. Ma was very pleased.

He enjoyed the tea with great comfort.

After a simple tasting, he turned to Li Jian and said, ”You and your investigative team have handled cases beautifully during this period.”

”As the deputy director overseeing this, I am very satisfied.”

”Moreover, the entire city’s leadership is also very pleased with your work, keep it up.”

Li Jian had a smile on his face.

”Mr. Ma, don’t worry!”

”We will definitely follow your lead.”

”Very good, very good,” said Mr. Ma, ”I’ve always believed that contributions lead to recognition.”

”With the significant contributions your investigative team has made, I, as Mr. Ma, must strive to get you more achievements and rewards.”

”There’s a very good opportunity right now to promote you.”

”What opportunity? Another commendation or award?”

Mr. Ma chuckled, ”Commendations and awards are definitely indispensable.”

”I am planning for your team to receive a collective third-class merit, and Jiang An personally must be awarded third-class merit.”

Li Jian rubbed the edge of the teacup with his fingers, ”Mr. Ma, but the provincial department report mentions... young key personnel should also be promoted when necessary.”

Mr. Ma glanced at the wall hanging of calligraphy stating ’advance steadily.’

He chuckled lightly, ”Why rush? You need to climb the ladder step by step.”

Li Jian replied promptly, ”Yes, yes, Mr. Ma, I didn’t consider thoroughly, you have foresight.”

But then, after a slight pause, Mr. Ma added seriously, ”Actually, there is an opportunity that could accelerate Jiang An’s growth.”

”What opportunity?”

”Recently, we are hosting the Most Beautiful Police Officer selection in Jiangcheng, and the city’s bureau has three spots.”

”With how well you’ve handled the cases, I want to give one of the spots to Jiang An from your new investigative team.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian grew even more excited.

For the ’Most Beautiful Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Police Officer,’ the event is held every five years.

Each time, the commendation is very grand; it can be said to be an important opportunity to showcase oneself and the public image of the police force.

If this opportunity can be seized, then future career advancement and personal growth are certainly well-enhanced.

After a moment of excitement, Li Jian immediately said, ”Then, let me thank, and thank Mr. Ma on behalf of Jiang An in advance.”

Mr. Ma waved his hand, ”No need to thank me, I just said earlier, contributions lead to recognition.”

”As long as you investigate any case and do your utmost, there will definitely be rewards.”

”Alright, I feel Mr. Ma has great affection for the future of Jiangcheng.”

At this moment, Li Jian thought briefly about the press conference.

He said, ”Mr. Ma, this opportunity is really great.”

”Every year’s Most Beautiful Police selection involves online voting, unit evaluation, and final speech competition.”

”With Jiang An’s showcase in front of so many reporters today, it would surely greatly aid the upcoming online voting.”

Mr. Ma nodded and said, ”Indeed.”

”So, I think sometimes such coincidences aren’t accidental but rather inevitable.”

”The process of a talented person’s growth is also inevitable.”

Mr. Ma smacked his lips, ”Not bad, this young man can be focused on for cultivation.”

”Indeed! He is already our key candidate for the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation.”

After a period of lighthearted discussion, Mr. Ma’s expression became grave.

He said seriously, ”However, there is an important matter before us that deserves our attention.”

Li Jian noticed Mr. Ma’s expression and immediately understood.

”Are you talking about the oversight work on unresolved homicide cases?”

Mr. Ma sighed deeply.

”Yes, we still have 10 unresolved homicide cases in Jiangcheng.”

”This time, the police authority from above is dispatching technical experts with hopes of finding breakthroughs.”

”As the deputy director of Jiangcheng Public Security Bureau overseeing criminal investigations, I am under significant pressure.”

Li Jian quickly assured, ”Mr. Ma, don’t worry, just like I said over the phone.”

”We will definitely assemble the strongest team and appoint Jiang An as the team leader to oversee the entire case and seek breakthroughs.”

Mr. Ma nodded.

He said, ”Letting Jiang An lead the team, there will surely be no problem.”

”However, the scope of this special action on unresolved homicide cases might be very extensive.”

”Should it involve coordination with the neighboring city, a mere title like team leader is relatively minor.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian realized.

He asked excitedly, ”Mr. Ma, are you suggesting a promotion for Jiang An?”

Mr. Ma nodded with a smile.

”There is currently a vacant position for deputy team leader in your investigation team.”

”I think perhaps we can consider Jiang An for the deputy position to foster his quicker growth.”

Li Jian briefly contemplated.

Transitioning from the group leader in homicide inspection to deputy team leader in criminal investigation is entirely within the normal growth trajectory.

He then clapped his hands joyously, saying, ”Mr. Ma, you have foresight, I feel it completely fits the growth process.”

”Alright then, let’s decide on this.”

”In the afternoon, I’ll report this at the leadership and cadre work meeting.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian’s heart raced more than when he himself took up leadership, filled with excitement.
