The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 435: Chapter 255: Press Conference

After the case was solved, the head of the criminal police team, Li Jian, walked with a spring in his step.

He had just walked out of the interrogation room door and couldn’t wait to take out his phone.

His fingers swiftly slid across the screen, dialing Mr. Ma’s number.

He understood that within the whole bureau, besides himself, Mr. Ma was the most concerned about the progress of the case.

Before heading out this morning, Mr. Ma had mentioned the matter of the reporters’ interviews, his words full of anxiety.

After three rings, the call connected, and Li Jian put the phone to his ear, his rich voice sounding: ”Hello, Mr. Ma.”

He chuckled, the fatigue on his face vanishing, replaced by uncontrollable excitement, and said, ”Mr. Ma, look, I’ve brought you some good news.”

At that moment, Mr. Ma was sitting in his office, leisurely leaning against the back of his chair, holding a cup of kung fu tea lightly in his right hand, about to take a sip.

Hearing the phone ring, he set down the teacup without rush and responded casually: ”Good news? What good news?”

”Unless you’ve solved this case for me.”

”Otherwise, how do you expect me to face that crowd of sharp-tongued journalists this afternoon?”

”Haha, just as you expected, the case has indeed been solved.”

Li Jian laughed, his body swaying slightly, as if he was brimming with inexhaustible energy.

”The case is solved?”

”Really?”

In an instant, Mr. Ma’s hand trembled, the teacup shook violently, and the tea spilled onto the table.

But he was oblivious, not feeling any burn on his hand.

Then, he leaned forward urgently, asking, ”Really, you’re not deceiving me?”

Li Jian said on the phone, ”Mr. Ma, you are my mentor.”

”Once a teacher, always a father. How could I ever do something deceitful and underhanded?”

”Moreover, when it comes to solving murder cases, I’ve never joked with you.”

With that, Li Jian straightened his chest, his eyes showing determination.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma’s mood suddenly improved, as if a storm had met a strong wind and blown the clouds away, clearing the sky in an instant.

He leaned back in his chair again and asked in a light-hearted tone, ”Really, you’re saying the case is solved?”

”Absolutely solved, without any suspense.”

”Wang Shantao planned the murder of two people on her own.”

”First, she used He Biao to kill her husband, disposing of the body in the forest, feigning a disappearance;”

”Then, she used Li Xiang to eliminate He Biao.”

”Li Xiang only participated in the murder process of the second case, but Wang Shantao was involved in the entire murder plan herself.”

As Li Jian spoke, he gestured with his hands, as if reconstructing the crime scene.

”How could this happen?”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma couldn’t help but feel incredulous.

He frowned slightly and shook his head.

Although, in his mind, he had seen women more vicious than this.

However, yesterday, while reviewing the case files, he had deliberately glanced at Wang Shantao in the interrogation room.

She looked so kind and gentle, but unexpectedly, her heart was so malicious.

After a moment of surprise, Mr. Ma sat up straight and solemnly said, ”This case is of significant importance; every piece of evidence must be solid.”

”Do not let the speed of solving cases lead to wrongful convictions.”

”That’s imperative!”

”Although solving this case had a rather convoluted path and went through many obstacles.”

”Overall, the criminal facts are clear, the motive explicit, and the process of the crime is straightforward.”

”More crucially, the statements of the two people completely matched our criminal police team’s reasoning.”

Finally, Captain Li Jian added, ”Of course, Jiang An played a very significant role in this case, offering valuable suggestions.”

”The reconstruction of the entire death process he did almost matched Wang Shantao’s planned process.”

Upon hearing this sentence, a smile appeared on Mr. Ma’s face, and the image of Jiang An emerged in his mind.

He nodded slightly and said, ”Jiangcheng is proud to have a criminal police officer like Jiang An.”

As soon as the words fell, Li Jian on the other end of the phone quickly said, ”Indeed, Jiang An is truly a talent that Jiangcheng can’t afford to lose.”

”Whether from previous cases or the current one, his criminal investigation talent has been proven time and again.”

”It can be said that without Jiang An, solving many cases would be extremely difficult, involving many detours.”

Li Jian spoke as he paced back and forth in the corridor, his steps light.

”Well done!”

”Jiangcheng needs such young team members to overcome difficulties on the road to fighting crime.”

”No wonder the higher-ups value Jiang An so much.”

Mr. Ma praised while rhythmically tapping the table with his right hand.

With this remark, Captain Li Jian immediately stopped walking and asked, ”Mr. Ma, have the bigshots from higher up, supervising the review of the unresolved homicide cases, left during these busy days of case-solving?”

”Not yet, they’re still running around several districts and counties in Jiangcheng.”

”However, the cases they’re sorting out are quite challenging, and there hasn’t been much progress so far.”

Mr. Ma answered, his fingers lightly rubbing the rim of the teacup.

Then, Captain Li Jian said, ”Mr. Ma, I have a suggestion, though I’m not sure if it’s appropriate.”

”I want to recommend Jiang An to participate in the higher-ups’ review of the unresolved homicide cases.”

”Jiang An’s insights are very active, the suggestions he provides incorporate the crime scenes and are based on the investigation process.”

”Even though a lot of time has passed for those unsolved homicide cases.”
