The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 415: Chapter 246: Drowning Site?

At this moment, Jiang An, dressed in a white coat, wearing a mask and gloves, was fully focused on working at the autopsy table.

The scalpel in his hand descended accurately, slicing through the cold skin.

It was deathly silent all around, except for the extractor fan roaring like a muffled, low growling beast, making the oppressive atmosphere even heavier.

Everyone held their breath, staring unblinkingly at the autopsy table.

Li Jian furrowed his brows, resting his chin on one hand, his thumb gently stroking his stubble.

After a long period of contemplation, he slowly spoke, ”If it’s as Jiang An said, then this case has become rather complex.”

Standing opposite, Mr. Qin’s facial muscles were tensed, and he also appeared solemn.

He responded, ”Originally, I thought this was a case involving two people.”

”One person kills another.”

”But now, with a third party involved, it clearly warrants deeper investigation.”

Zhang Yean blinked her eyes and unconsciously leaned forward slightly.

She curiously asked, ”Is it possible that He Biao committed suicide out of fear of being punished?”

”After all, we found Wang Shantao the day before yesterday.”

”Could he have been worried that his crimes would be exposed, and decided to end it early on his own.”

Saying this, her gaze swept across everyone’s faces, seemingly seeking validation.

As the captain of the criminal investigation team, Li Jian’s logical analysis skills were, of course, not weak.

He straightened his back, looking at everyone with determination.

”If the murderer’s mentality is this fragile, I don’t think he’d have tidied up at home so neatly.”

”Moreover, there are a few Criminal Investigation books placed on the bookshelf, and the whole room does not show any signs of wanting to escape or leave.”

As he spoke, he gestured in the air, illustrating the layout of He Biao’s home.

Upon hearing this, Jiang An nodded slightly, his gaze focused and profound.

”Indeed, when we were at his house, everything was as usual.”

”For someone like him, we have no reason to believe he would suddenly seek death.”

”Furthermore, there’s a very peculiar phenomenon on his corpse.”

”Therefore, from this perspective, I think there must be something peculiar about his cause of death.”

As he spoke, he picked up the pen on the table and sketched a few strokes in the notebook, marking the position of the fibers.

After a while, Mr. Qin’s eyes suddenly lit up, as if he had thought of something crucial.

He suddenly raised his head, his body slightly trembling, and said, ”Could there be another situation.”

”For example, He Biao’s death might not be related to the original case, but was caused by some other incident.”

Jiang An leaned back against the chair, his fingers crossed over his chest, pondering for a moment before responding, ”For now, although such a situation can’t be ruled out.”

”I think its likelihood isn’t very high, because the timing of these two events is too tightly linked, too tightly for us to separate them.”

After a long while, Captain Li Jian paced back and forth a few steps, then suddenly stopped, pulling his phone out of his pocket and quickly dialed Mr. Fu’s number.

”We are currently facing many possibilities. But now that He Biao is dead, he can’t answer our questions.”

”However, perhaps Wang Shantao, sitting in the interrogation room, can corroborate our thoughts...”

At this moment, Mr. Fu was furiously smoking in the corridor.

He was holding a cigarette in one hand, taking a deep inhalation, and the white smoke instantly spurted out from his mouth and nose, rising slowly.

His interrogation experience was rich, but he had no idea how to deal with the woman in front of him.

He couldn’t use traditional violent physical contact methods, nor could he break through using conventional interrogation tactics.

For a moment, he was filled with frustration, his brows knitted into a knot, and the veins on his forehead faintly surfaced.

Suddenly, he heard the phone ring, his hand trembled, the ash fluttered down, he hurriedly dropped the cigarette in his hand, frantically pressed the answer button, and said, ”Hello, Mr. Li.”

Li Jian urgently asked over the phone, ”How’s it going? Any progress on your end with the interrogation?”

His voice through the receiver sounded particularly anxious, and his hand holding the phone was clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Fu pondered for a moment, his head slightly bowed, and scratched his back of the head before speaking, ”There’s been no progress whatsoever, and the scene isn’t looking promising either.”

”Wang Shantao keeps defending herself that she hasn’t had contact with that person, and during our previous interactions with her, there were no questionable aspects.”

After hearing this, Li Jian furrowed his brows even tighter, the wrinkles on his forehead seemed deeper, he said with a frown, ”We’ve found He Biao’s body.”

Suddenly, Mr. Fu on the other line was shocked upon hearing this, as if his body had been electrocuted.

He wasn’t unfamiliar with He Biao.

Previous investigations showed that he had had a close relationship with Wang Shantao, and they had preliminarily identified He Biao as a suspect.

Just now, he had also mentioned He Biao’s name during the interrogation of Wang Shantao.

Immediately following, Mr. Fu clutched the phone tightly, his voice solemn and serious as he asked, ”Dead? When did he die?”

Captain Li Jian glanced at the body on the autopsy table.

He took a deep breath and slowly said, ”The initial determination is that the death likely occurred on the night before last.”

”The night before last?”

Mr. Fu instantly fell into deep thought.

His head tilted slightly to one side, his eyes looking toward the ceiling.
