The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 440: Chapter 257: The First Exceptional Promotion

This concerns personal career, and even more so, reputation. If one stumbles here, it would truly make them a criminal in Jiangcheng’s public security.

After a moment’s reflection, Mr. Zhang said, ”You’re suggesting involving Jiang An in solving these old cases?”

Mr. Ma nodded heavily, his gaze as firm as a rock.

”Exactly!”

”This time, quite a number of high-level officials have come from above, their rank is notably high, making it hard to underestimate.”

”If he participates only in his capacity as a police officer, it would not reflect our respect towards the supervisory group from above, and they may feel we’re being perfunctory.”

”Secondly, it wouldn’t fully tap into his case-solving potential.”

”You must know, some case resolutions aren’t confined to Jiangcheng, there’s a high probability of needing inter-regional cooperation.”

”When the time comes, relying on myself and the other two deputy captains for coordination, our energy is limited and efficiency will certainly suffer.”

”Therefore, considering the overall work demands and the challenging situation of unsolved cases at our public security bureau, appointing him as the deputy captain of the detective team couldn’t be more suitable.”

As soon as the words were spoken, the other deputy directors began discussing.

The originally quiet conference room instantly erupted like a boiling pot.

Many people were whispering.

Suddenly, Mr. Li said solemnly: ”This step is too big, never have I seen such a promotion.”

Mr. Ma also said eagerly: ”We’re already at a critical juncture, why talk about seniority, those with capability should step up!”

After five minutes, Mr. Zhang slowly sat back in his chair.

He took a deep breath to calm his emotions.

”The reasons Mr. Ma mentioned earlier are sufficient!”

”Everyone can see Jiang An’s personal abilities.”

”This time, the supervisory group is sent to Jiangcheng for case investigation. For us, it is both an opportunity and a challenge.”

”Opportunity because the expert group’s expertise might reveal clues in seemingly hopeless cases, like lighting a lamp in the dark.”

”Challenge because if we achieve nothing in solving the unsolved cases, colleagues will scoff, not to mention...”

”The reputation of Jiangcheng’s detectives and public security would be damaged, and we wouldn’t be able to hold our heads high.”

In the end, he sighed deeply.

”Since my involvement in detective work, there has never been a precedent of promoting a trainee officer directly to detective team deputy captain.”

”But now, to advance overall work and maintain fairness and justice for Jiangcheng, I think we can make an exception, boldly innovate once, as if paving a new path for Jiangcheng’s public security.”

Next, he paused, scanning the entire room.

”Since this is a meeting for discussion, let’s vote collectively.”

”Those agreeing to Jiang An’s nomination as deputy captain of the detective team, please raise your hand.”

After speaking, everyone in the room raised their right hand high without exception.

Mr. Ma glanced around, a smile full of gratification on his face.

Mr. Zhang seeing this, announced: ”Passed unanimously.”

”Immediately start the procedures for cadre appointments and removals. We have to hurry and let Jiang An exert his light and heat soon.”

It must be said, personnel appointments approved by the directors have exceptionally high efficiency.

Decisions made in meetings the previous day are documented and issued the next day.

This is naturally closely related to the urgency of the case oversight work.

After all, case solving races against time, and every moment passing might bury the truth deeper.

At ten o’clock the next morning, the administrative director of the detective team was sitting at the desk, fingers quickly typing on the keyboard, making ”da da” sounds.

Soon, a notification appeared in the work group.

”At ten thirty this morning, there will be a detective team cadre meeting in the detective team conference room. All police officers and auxiliary officers at home must attend.”

As soon as the message was sent, the work group exploded.

People were asking one after another in the work group: ”Who’s getting promoted to a leadership position?

Our detective team leader and instructor are in place, there are also two deputy captains, is this news reliable?

That’s right, is it accurate?

.......

The administrative director looking at these questions, smiled helplessly.

Li Jian was sitting in a chair reading files. Upon hearing the noise, he put down the material in hand, smiled slightly, took out his phone, and typed four words in the group: ”Absolutely true.”

Then someone continued to ask: ”Who exactly is it?”

”Who’s going to be the leader?”

Li Jian replied again: ”Wait for the meeting announcement, everyone don’t be anxious, it’ll be clear then.”

”Mr. Li, don’t keep us in suspense, everyone’s eager.”

”That’s right, it’s driving me crazy.”

.......

Colleagues’ messages came one after another, bombarding the phone screen like a cascade of artillery.

At this moment, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan were organizing case files in the office.

After solving criminal cases, file organization is crucial, it fully records the entire process of case resolution.

At any time, with the file, case review is effortlessly easy.

Even if unjust and wrong cases are discovered years later, there is evidence to rely on.

Jiang An sat at the desk, holding a pen with his right hand and pressing down documents with his left hand.

He was carefully verifying the main details on the material.

Suddenly, he furrowed his brow slightly, his gaze deep and focused.

Zhang Yean stood nearby, holding a stack of documents, occasionally bending down to place a few, her movements gentle and cautious.

Wan was sitting at the computer, fingers flying on the keyboard, entering relevant information, muttering softly to himself.

The three of them were busy with the documents in hand, while the phone kept making the ”ding ding ding” reminder sound.

Wan complained impatiently: ”Who is it? Making a racket in the group early in the morning.”

He stopped what he was doing, picked up the phone, swiped the screen a few times, eyes hinting some annoyance.

Zhang Yean echoed: ”Maybe it’s the administrative director sending some work notifications.”

While speaking, she put down the documents in hand, walked next to Wan, and looked at the phone screen.

Jiang An didn’t respond, focused on organizing the materials, the pen in his hand making a rustling sound on the paper.

Immediately, the phone’s alert sound rang again.

Wan couldn’t contain himself, put down the document box, picked up the phone, and browsed.

In this group of fifty people, he swiped several times before finding the earliest work message this morning, full of doubt asked: ”Our detective team is getting a new cadre?”

Zhang Yean looked surprised: ”Haven’t heard, no sign at all.”

Wan looked over to Jiang An still busy, and asked: ”Junior, have you heard?”

Jiang An shook his head: ”Haven’t heard.”

Wan grinned: ”Haha, compared to this, I’m more interested in whether I’ll be rewarded for merit in this case.”

At ten thirty, Mr. Ma walked into the meeting room with large strides, followed by the head of the personnel department.

Mr. Ma spoke: ”Today is a big day for our detective team.”

”Today, in the midst of his busy schedule, Mr. Zhang has made time to visit the detective team to announce something major.”

All of a sudden, the conference room was filled with applause, continuing for quite a while before gradually subsiding.

Immediately, Mr. Ma looked at Mr. Zhang beside him.

Mr. Zhang raised his hand and lightly tapped the microphone, speaking aloud: ”Comrades, you all have worked hard!”

”During this period, our detective team has repeatedly made remarkable achievements.”

”As a director, I’m sincerely happy, and can’t help but feel a bit envious.”

”Happy because I never expected such efficiency in solving cases from the team under me;”

”Envious because Mr. Ma has such outstanding subordinates.”

”Back in the day when I was vice director, overseeing detective work, I never experienced such joy in continuous case-solving.”

Mr. Zhang smiled as he spoke.

Beside him, Mr. Ma was smiling so widely his mouth could hardly close.

Then, Mr. Zhang announced solemnly: ”We always adhere to having merit in work before getting a position.”

”Recently, the detective team has solved multiple major cases.”

”The leaders of the city bureau have seen it and kept it in mind.”

”We have always upheld the principle that ambition is not limited by age, and selecting leaders does not strictly adhere to seniority.”

”As long as one has capability, energy, and contributions, there’s a chance for promotion.”

”After thorough research and discussion, we have decided to promote Jiang An extraordinarily to deputy captain of the detective team to assist Captain Li Jian in solving homicide cases.”

As soon as the words were spoken, the room was filled with applause again.

Everyone’s gaze unanimously turned towards Jiang An sitting in the first row.

Jiang An’s body trembled slightly, his eyes full of surprise and incredibility.
