The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 395: Chapter 236: Breakthrough Progress (Part 2)

”Mr. He, it’s all thanks to your excellent training!”

”Under such complex and harsh conditions, the police dogs could still rely on their sense of smell to achieve success.”

”At this rate, our Jiangcheng police dogs could traverse the entire Dragon Country in the future!”

”You’re too kind, too kind.”

Mr. He quickly waved his hand. Although he was modest, his eyes were filled with smiles.

”Let’s go, we should hurry over to take a look.”

With that, the two of them took big strides, hurrying towards the direction broadcasted on the walkie-talkie.

At the same time, in the general manager’s office of the brick factory, the atmosphere was so tense it felt as if you could wring water from it.

Mr. Qin looked serious, gazing sincerely at Mr. Wang.

He spoke firmly, ”Mr. Wang, don’t worry.”

”Everything we discuss here today will be kept absolutely confidential.”

”It will neither affect your personal honor nor involve your privacy.”

”Any information you provide now will contribute to solving the case and is crucial for our investigation.”

”Of course, don’t worry about any retaliation.”

”If this really causes you any grievance, our criminal investigation team will definitely protect you by all means.”

Mr. Wang slightly lowered his head, his hands clasped, the knuckles turning white from tension.

After listening to Mr. Qin’s words, he seemed to have made up his mind, raising his head slowly.

He said with a slightly hoarse voice, ”Given that, I feel at ease.”

”Ever since Wang Shantao resigned, I’ve heard some rumors suggesting that Li Mingzhong from our procurement department supposedly had an ambiguous relationship with her.”

”Li Mingzhong?”

The general manager, sitting aside, couldn’t help but widen his eyes in astonishment upon hearing this.

”He’s over fifty, can he still pull off something like this?”

Mr. Wang glanced at the general manager, his eyes calm and without much fluctuation.

He simply said lightly, ”I just heard it from others, I’m not clear on the truth.”

Mr. Qin kept his gaze fixed on Mr. Wang.

At this moment, he nodded slightly and continued to ask, ”What’s Li Mingzhong’s full name?”

”Li Mingzhong, he’s still the head of the procurement department.”

The general manager quickly responded.

”Good, I got it.”

Mr. Qin turned his head, looking solemn.

”General manager, we need you to keep this confidential.”

”If anyone asks, just say it was discovered by our police force.”

The general manager hurriedly nodded, forcing a smile on his face.

He responded, ”No problem, absolutely no problem.”

”Every year, your police force does a great deal for our factory, this small matter will definitely be handled appropriately by me.”

”Alright, then we’ll go have a chat with this Li Mingzhong.”

Mr. Qin stood up and left the office with two subordinates, taking large strides.

minutes later, they arrived at the door of Li Mingzhong’s office.

Mr. Qin stepped forward and raised his hand to knock gently on the door.

Knock, knock, knock...

The knocking sound echoed oddly in the silent hallway.

”Come in.”

A hoarse voice came from inside the door.

Opening the door, Mr. Qin stepped in first and quickly showed his credentials.

”Mr. Li, hello, I’m the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, my name is Qin.”

”Hello, Mr. Qin.”

Li Mingzhong stood up from behind his desk, forcing a smile onto his face.

He politely extended his hand to shake with Mr. Qin.

”Please have a seat, I’ll have the staff bring some tea.”

With that, he hurried to the door, gave some instructions, and returned inside.

”Mr. Qin, I wonder what brings you here today, anything I can help with?”

Everyone sat down, Mr. Qin stared sharply at Li Mingzhong.

He asked straightforwardly, ”Do you know Wang Shantao?”

Li Mingzhong’s hand was initially resting on the armrest.

Hearing the name, it was as if he was jolted, and he shuddered.

He nervously adjusted his posture, calming himself.

”I remember her, she was a service staff in our logistics, responsible for travel procurement, often coming to me for reimbursement.”

”Just a normal superior-subordinate relationship?”

Mr. Qin squinted slightly, pursuing the question.

”Nothing else?”

Saying this, he looked at Jiang An, sending a glance.

Jiang An caught on quickly and immediately took over the conversation.

”Mr. Li, we’ve conducted some investigations.”

”It’s said you had some sort of relationship with Wang Shantao, this can’t be denied.”

”No! Absolutely not!”

Li Mingzhong sprung up like a cat whose tail was stepped on, his voice suddenly raising.

”We only had a simple business relationship, none of those messy things you’re thinking.”

Seeing the situation, Jiang An quickly stood up, sincerely advising.

”Mr. Li, please calm down first.”

”Since we came to find you, it certainly isn’t baseless.”

”Now that Wang Shantao is involved in a case, we’re also doing this to solve the case.”

”And it’s also for your good!”

”You should speak truthfully, clarify the matter. If it turns out unrelated to the case today, we won’t bother you again.”

”But if you’re evasive, we’ll have to come back repeatedly.”

”You wouldn’t want to be constantly surrounded by some men in uniform, right? Let’s all be considerate of each other.”

Li Mingzhong flopped back onto his chair, clutching his head in silence for a long time.

Finally, like a deflated ball, he conceded, ”Alright, I admit.”

”I had a romantic relationship with her.”

”However, it was a year ago.”

”After she resigned, we lost contact.”

Mr. Qin leaned slightly forward, keeping his gaze fixed on him, not missing any subtle expressions.

”Tell us more in detail!”

”How did you meet, and how did it develop later?”

Li Mingzhong raised his head, eyes somewhat vacant, and slowly said, ”We met through procurement business.”

”She was pretty, and I often took care of her procurement reimbursements.”

”Over time, we developed feelings for each other.”

”After she resigned, we didn’t contact each other again.”

Zhang Yean, sitting beside, listened and couldn’t help a slight curl at the corner of her mouth.

She thought to herself: This old guy probably was used without knowing it.

That woman was likely exploiting convenience for reimbursements.

At this point, Jiang An discreetly observed Li Mingzhong.

From his frail physique to his slightly worn attire.

Jiang An internally analyzed: With this old man’s build, if he were to hit someone on the head with a stick, considering the angle of the deceased’s skull injury, the force wouldn’t reach that severe a level.”

Also, given that Li Mingzhong is in management,

He couldn’t possibly carry disposable gloves around for committing a crime.

If gloves were to be used, they’d have to be new.

It surely couldn’t be the dirty, ragged kind, it was not fitting his status.

This analysis led Jiang An to pretty much conclude,

It was unlikely for Li Mingzhong to have committed the crime, but he might still provide some other clues.

With this in mind, Jiang An asked gravely, ”How long were you with her, and did you hear of her having any entanglements with other men during that time?”

Li Mingzhong furrowed his brows, pondering for a while.

”I did hear about a third workshop chief, nothing else...”

”Oh, I once saw her walking by the roadside with a familiar face from the factory while driving to work.”

”Was that person from management?”

Jiang An pursued the question.

”No, just a regular worker from the fifth workshop.”

”He was big and muscular, clearly someone who did physical labor, but I can’t recall his name off the top of my head.”

A minute later, he said in a deep voice, ”I remember he had the surname Liang. At the time, I specifically checked the records, but now I’ve forgotten his full name.”

Li Mingzhong patted his head in frustration.

”Are you sure he’s from the fifth workshop?”

”I’m sure, I checked back then.”

”He’s much younger than me, I guess Wang Shantao preferred that.”

Quickly, Jiang An opened the employee records in his hand.

He carefully searched page by page, flipping through thoroughly.

”Mr. Qin, shall we try finding this guy with the last name Liang?”

”Let’s go.”
