The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 370: Chapter 224: Major Breakthrough in the Case

At this moment, inside the forensic lab of the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.

Jiang An stood in a white coat, his posture upright, his expression focused.

After listening to Li Jian, he turned around and nodded.

Soon, Jiang An’s gaze settled on the dry skull in front of him.

However, the most excited among the three was Wan.

He darted forward, holding Li Jian’s hands tightly, and eagerly asked, ”Captain, have you identified the victim’s identity so quickly?”

Li Jian had a faint, pleased smile at the corner of his mouth, nodded gently, and said, ”We were quite lucky this time.”

”Mr. Qin’s team investigated missing persons within three weeks.”

”Fortunately, the first person they visited confirmed a probable victim—Wang Jianghe.”

Li clapped his hands, a crisp ”clap” sounded.

He exclaimed, ”Wow!”

”I’ve been with the Criminal Investigation Team for quite a while, and this is the first time we’ve succeeded so quickly.”

Zhang Yan cheerfully joined in, ”A good start is half the success.”

”I think there’s a good chance this case will soon be solved.”

After a burst of excitement, Li Jian frowned slightly and said solemnly, ”Now, this victim’s skull lacks any muscular tissue, making it impossible to restore the victim’s appearance.”

”So currently, we can only identify by their clothing.”

”Moreover, the victim’s parents are deceased, and with no children, biological testing is not possible.”

”Next, it’s up to our brother Jiang An for skull reconstruction and comparison.”

Upon hearing this, Wan looked at Jiang An, his gaze filled with trust, and said, ”Mr. Li, rest assured!”

”With Jiang An, there’s no problem that cannot be solved.”

”Especially in the field of forensic science, he is a figure of great repute.”

”I believe even if only half of the skull remains, he can restore the person’s entire appearance.”

Hearing this, Jiang An turned his head and smiled with a touch of humility, saying, ”Senior, you’re flattering me again, I’m not that amazing.”

”I won’t make something out of nothing, I’m a skull reconstructionist, not an artist.”

Zhang Yean playfully remarked, ”Junior, don’t be modest now, we’ve been amazed by your skull reconstruction skills multiple times.”

Two minutes later, Li Jian turned to ask, ”Will the materials for the skull reconstruction be the same as last time?”

Jiang An nodded and replied, ”We need some plaster and solidifier again.”

”However, it’s best to get ones of good quality this time, to ensure accurate results.”

Li Jian nodded in agreement, ”No problem, I’ll have the administrative staff of our team purchase them according to your request.”

”Oh, by the way, Mr. Qin will have someone send over the photos of Wang Jianghe shortly.”

”No worries, Mr. Li, this is my area of expertise, I will do my utmost.”

”But, I just wonder when those photos were taken.”

”If the photos were taken long ago and the deceased recently had a wasting disease, comparison might be a bit tricky,” Jiang An said seriously.

”No problem, I trust you.” After saying this, Li Jian turned and left the forensic lab.

Not long after, Zhang Yean and Wan approached Jiang An.

”Junior, all our hopes of solving the case are pinned on you this time,” said Zhang Yean.

Jiang An scrunched his mouth, smiling wryly, ”Senior Brother, Senior Sister, when you say it like that, I feel so much pressure.”

”No worries, I’ll give you a shoulder rub.” As he spoke, Wan raised his hand to massage Jiang An’s shoulder.

Jiang An glanced sideways and quickly dodged, half-laughing, ”Senior, you just touched the skull with these gloves, and now my clothes? That’s not quite right, is it?”

Embarrassed, Wan laughed awkwardly and quickly took off the gloves, ”Indeed, sorry about that.”

Meanwhile.

Mr. Qin was at Wang Jianghe’s house, where a sorrowful atmosphere pervaded the room.

He took the photograph, glanced at it.

Wang Jianghe’s wife wept with tears in her eyes, choking as she said, ”Jianghe was quite thrifty during his life, always taking care of this family, who’d have thought even after death his body would be left exposed in the wild.”

As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Mr. Qin comforted softly, ”Don’t be too sad, life ahead is still long.”

Just as he spoke, Mr. Qin suddenly recalled a possibility raised by Jiang An during the preliminary analysis of the case.

Could this case possibly be a domestic homicide?

Despite the woman’s overwhelming grief, Mr. Qin thought he should remain vigilant, as the human heart can hide many things.

Thus, Mr. Qin asked, ”Ma’am, may I ask how many people are currently in your family?”

The woman raised her head, wiped tears, and said, ”It was just me and Jianghe, but now I’m all alone. It was just the two of us living here.”

Mr. Qin nodded and asked again, ”What about your parents?”

”My parents are out of town, and Jianghe’s parents passed away in the last two years, so it was just the two of us in this family.”

”Unfortunately, we also don’t have any children,” the woman’s voice grew progressively lower.

Mr. Qin glanced around, noticing the two-story villa appeared exceptionally vibrant, clearly wealthier compared to the surrounding tiled houses.

He then asked, ”What kind of work did your family do before?”

The woman sniffed and answered, ”Jianghe and I used to run a fruit business in town, earned a bit of money.”

”However, now that Jianghe has passed away, I plan to transfer the town’s fruit supermarket.”
