The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 362: Chapter 221: Three-Pronged Advance!

After a long time, Captain Li Jian walked steadily up to Jiang An, bent down slightly, and asked softly, ”Brother Jiang An, do you think we need to continue the investigation here at the scene?”

Jiang An slowly raised his head, with a hint of fatigue and helplessness in his eyes.

He looked around, his brows tightly knit, and his forehead furrowed into a deep ”川” character, letting out a heavy sigh.

”Mr. Li, look at this, the body is almost completely eaten by maggots, there’s not much left to investigate.”

”I’m thinking we dig up some of the soil beneath the body, send it back to the chemical lab, and see if there’s a possibility of poisoning.”

”Maybe we can find some key clues in this soil.”

Upon hearing this, Captain Li Jian’s eyes lit up instantly.

He nodded his head like a chicken pecking at rice, quickly agreeing, ”I think that works! If it’s poisoning, with the body in this state, the poison must have seeped into the soil.”

Wan’s eyes rolled around, like a smart little devil, suddenly blurting out, ”Why do I suddenly have a feeling like Wu Dalang was poisoned? This is creepy!”

As he said this, he shrank his neck, as if truly frightened by this eerie thought.

Mr. Qin couldn’t help but laugh, raising a hand to gently pat Wan’s shoulder, and said with a smile, ”Don’t let your imagination run wild. Wu Dalang was deliberately poisoned by someone, and that was quite a twisty plot.”

”This deceased was already ill. These are two different things, don’t confuse them. We have to base our actions on reality.”

Immediately, Wan rummaged through the investigation kit beside him and pulled out an evidence bag, waving it in his hand.

Jiang An squatted down, his movements as seasoned as an experienced farmer tending to his crops, holding the shovel steadily.

He scooped up the damp soil from beneath the corpse, and carefully placed it into the evidence bag.

Wan took the soil, eyes wide open, full of suspicion, muttering while sealing the bag, ”Can this little bit of soil really reveal poisons?”

”Why do I feel so uncertain, not too convinced, ah.”

Jiang An stood up, brushed off the soil from his hands, and said unequivocally, ”Wan, don’t underestimate modern instruments. They’re incredibly advanced with super high sensitivity. This bit of soil is enough to detect toxins and could be the crucial blow to solve the case.”

After dealing with the soil, Jiang An bent over again, like a seasoned detective searching for treasure, not overlooking any corner around the body, trying to find any useful clues.

But the stony dirt road, as hard as an iron shield, did not even leave any noticeable footprints, leaving them anxious.

Thirty minutes later, Jiang An straightened up, with a solemn expression, and said in a heavy tone, ”Captain Li, let me report the situation.”

”After this round of investigation, we can preliminarily determine that the deceased is around 37 years old, male, and was seriously ill before death. I think it’s highly likely it was a consuming illness like cancer.”

”The deceased’s clothes are scattered widely, suggesting he was dragged after death.”

”The soil beneath the body must be quickly sent to the lab for toxicology tests.”

”At present, there is nothing on the deceased that can confirm his identity. The urgent task is to quickly identify who he is, so that we can continue our work afterwards.”

Captain Li Jian listened, nodded heavily, and said firmly, ”Thank you for your hard work, Brother Jiang An.”

Then, Captain Li Jian turned and said, ”Now, I will briefly assign tasks.”

”Mr. Qin, take a team to the nearby villages and towns to investigate if there are any missing persons.”

”Focus on reviewing the reports of missing persons in the city over the past three weeks to see if we can find any clues to identify a possible victim.”

”Mr. Fu will lead a team to all major hospitals in the city to gather information on male cancer patients aged 35 to 40, and conduct interviews one by one.”

”Lastly, regarding the scene investigation, autopsy, and lab tests, please let Jiang An lead.”

”Instruct the chemical lab to prioritize analyzing the soil sample results.”

”At the same time, you should also conduct a large-scale investigation and exploration around to strive to find more remains.”

”Conduct comprehensive and detailed examinations on all found remains to uncover more clues.”

The group responded in unison, their voices resounding like a beating war drum.

Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan sped all the way back to the forensics lab like the wind.

As soon as they got inside, without catching their breath, they first sent the soil to the chemical lab for professional testing.

Afterwards, the three carefully moved the body to the forensic lab.

When placing the body gently on the lab table, Wan glanced at Jiang An, his eyes full of doubt.

”Brother Jiang An, should this body be sent to the medical examiner’s autopsy center for inspection?”

Jiang An shook his head slightly, ”If it was any other ordinary body, sending it to the autopsy center would be a must.”

”But this is a bit special, with only bones and a few pieces of clothing left.”

”It doesn’t smell overwhelmingly, nor is there blood pooling, so leaving it on our lab table here is fine.”

”However, to be safe, let’s put a layer of blue isolation pad on the table, so it doesn’t get dirty, and to show respect to the deceased.”

”Okay, no problem, I’ll go to the next room to find some large ones right away.”

Two minutes later, Zhang Yean returned like a gust of wind, holding four large isolation pads in her hands.

She swiftly laid them out on the table.

Soon, Jiang An and Wan put on gloves, like two artisans carefully shaping a piece of art, focused and reverent.
