The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 359: Chapter 219: The Pressure on the Criminal Investigation Captain (Part 3)

Fortunately, at the crucial moment, Jiang An turned the tide, reversing an incident originally classified as natural death into a homicide case, catching the murderer in a very short time, earning himself honor.

Mr. Ma felt full of gratitude and pride, believing that the criminal investigation team he had personally trained was truly exceptional, like an invincible elite squad.

At this moment, he picked up his teacup, took a sip, and recalled the municipal leaders giving high praise for his work as deputy chief.

Just as he was indulging in this light relaxation, his phone suddenly rang with a ”ding” sound.

He casually picked up his phone to have a look; it was a notification from Jiangcheng Headlines.

Upon opening it, a photo instantly froze him in place, all thoughts coming to a halt.

At the center of the photo, a prominent police tape came into view, and he recognized one of them from the back silhouette as Li Jian.

Suddenly, he remembered Li Jian saying yesterday that he was going for an outdoor barbecue.

Why was he suddenly running to investigate the scene?

His mind was filled with confusion, like a tangled skein of yarn.

Mr. Ma zoomed out of the image again, judging from the distant view that the photograph was taken in the Phoenix Mountain area.

”What’s going on?”

All at once, his mind was filled with question marks.

He quickly found Li Jian’s phone number.

Nervously, the ringing of the phone started on the other end, and Li Jian hurriedly removed the gloves from his hands, took out his phone to check; it was Mr. Ma.

”Hello, Mr. Ma.”

”What’s going on? Are you investigating the scene again?”

On the other end, Mr. Ma’s voice carried surprise and curiosity.

Upon hearing this, Li Jian looked around and did not see Mr. Ma among the crowd.

He smiled wryly and answered, ”Mr. Ma, you found out so quickly.”

”We just started investigating the scene as well.”

”Not only have I found out, but now the whole population of Jiangcheng knows! Jiangcheng Headlines has already pushed photos of your scene investigation.”

At this point, Li Jian began to realize, estimating that those bystanders on the mountain’s summit had taken photos, sparking online dissemination.

”Mr. Ma, I sincerely apologize, it’s our fault for not controlling the surrounding crowd.”

Li Jian said somewhat frustratingly, ”Originally we planned to have a barbecue team-building event in Phoenix Mountain.”

”Unexpectedly, during this time someone discovered a rib bone, followed by a full discovery of a corpse.”

”Rib bone, corpse, barbecue...”

Mr. Ma repeated those words, organized his thoughts, and helplessly said, ”You really are Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation team, finding a corpse even during a barbecue outing.”

”Ah, I also wanted a peaceful barbecue, but who could foresee this happening.”

After a brief silence on the other end, Mr. Ma asked again, ”How’s the situation at the scene?”

His voice returned to seriousness, seeming to switch to work mode.

”Mr. Ma, preliminary judgment is that it is a male corpse; clothes and shoes intact, but no identification.”

”Both upper limbs and the left thigh of the deceased were chewed by animals, we need to find the remaining parts next.”

”Can the time of death be determined?”

”Just now Jiang An analyzed the maggots, preliminarily determining the time of death to be around two weeks ago.”

”Cause of death?”

”Currently, it can’t be determined on-site; the deceased’s internal organs are completely decayed and missing.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma generally understood.

After all, he had also been through the trenches and lived in criminal investigation frontline work.

Like a seasoned veteran, aware of various situations.

Finally, Mr. Ma said solemnly, ”This case doesn’t seem simple, be aware and prepare yourselves mentally.”

Li Jian turned back to look around this desolate place, smiled wryly, and said, ”Mr. Ma, you’re right, this place is sparsely populated and lacks surveillance, really a tough bone to chew.”

”Alright, I won’t delay your scene investigation anymore. Report to me timely with any new situations.”

”Okay, Mr. Ma.”

”Originally I thought I would report to you after investigating the scene, but didn’t expect the speed of public dissemination surpasses our work speed.”

”No problem, public dissemination isn’t dangerous, what’s dangerous is if the case remains unsolved.”

After hanging up, Captain Li Jian felt pressure mounting like a mountain.

This case not only was placed in front of him but also in front of Mr. Ma and the entire city’s citizens.

Very likely city leaders would also be aware soon.

The pressing priority was to solve the case immediately.

Otherwise, it would undoubtedly ignite an even greater public sensation, like an impending storm.

Thinking of this, Li Jian’s gaze rested once more on the corpse.

Jiang An was focused on examining the deceased’s clothing.

Suddenly, his actions halted abruptly...
