Chapter 379: Chapter 228: Where Is the Tool? (2)

At the same time, Mr. Liu from the police station, standing behind, was also full of curiosity.

Earlier, he hadn’t paid much attention to this unremarkable young man.

However, after Zhang Yean’s praise, he gradually became very interested in Jiang An.

Mr. Liu and Zhang Yean graduated from the same police academy.

Although there was a significant age difference between them, they were alumni after all. Plus, their work-related affiliation meant they had always maintained a good private relationship.

So, Mr. Liu had no doubts about what Zhang Yean had just said.

Besides, when it comes to criminal investigation, results are what matter.

If there was any bluffing, the case would be exposed immediately.

Mr. Liu put away his gun and stood aside, carefully observing Jiang An’s hand movements.

Although he wasn’t a criminal investigator himself, he was quite knowledgeable about crime scene investigations.

American crime scene investigation shows were a must-watch program during his night shifts at the police station.

Because of this, he developed a strong interest in this specialized field of crime scene investigation.

After 5 minutes, Jiang An’s hands suddenly paused.

His gaze fell on the center of the white pillowcase.

In the middle of the white pillowcase, there was an irregular-looking stain.

At this moment, Zhang Yean also noticed the stain.

She moved a little closer, her expression filled with doubt, and asked softly, ”Is that drool on the pillow?”

Jiang An nodded slightly, thoughtfully said, ”It’s possible.”

”After all, when the body is at rest, the submandibular gland gets pressed, stimulating saliva secretion.”

After a slight pause, he said in a serious tone, ”However, I don’t think it’s just drool.”

”Oh? What do you mean?”

Instantly, Mr. Liu’s curiosity was piqued.

Having seen many real crime scene investigations, he couldn’t help but join the discussion.

He wanted to actively participate in the investigation of this pillow and not just be a bystander.

”Of course, one should not mislead.”

Jiang An paused, his expression solemn, and said, ”Senior, this pillow is white, but besides the stain, I seem to see a faint red color.”

”Red? I don’t see it clearly,” Zhang Yean frowned slightly, moving closer to have a better look.

Jiang An’s expression was serious, patiently explaining, ”Perhaps it’s the angle of your light. Change the light angle to parallel and take another look.”

Next, Zhang Yean adjusted the angle of the light in her hand.

A minute later, she exclaimed in surprise, ”Indeed, there seems to be a faint red color. Do you mean bloodstains?”

Zhang Yean’s eyes widened with astonishment.

”But aren’t the bloodstains too little?”

She immediately raised a question.

”If the deceased suffered a severe head injury causing skull fracture and scalp rupture, wouldn’t there be a lot of blood on the pillow?”

Not only Zhang Yean but even Mr. Liu standing behind had the same question.

He nodded in agreement and curiously asked, ”Exactly, if there was scalp rupture and bleeding, shouldn’t there be a lot of blood on the pillow?”

Jiang An did not answer immediately.

He slightly tilted his head, pondering deeply, recalling the scene of examining the body.

Through the examination of the entire skeletal structure, he found a skull fracture.

Moreover, the fracture was a deformity fracture.

With the soft tissues of the scalp missing, it’s hard to determine whether there was a rupture and bleeding.

Even whether there were any lacerations on the scalp is unknown now.

However, based on his analysis of the skull fracture,

there were no visible depressed fractures or bone fragments on the deceased’s head.

This fully indicates that the local pressure wasn’t significant.

When the local pressure isn’t significant, causing a scalp rupture might not be as easy.

Recalling past experiences in forensic examination, a bold idea suddenly emerged in Jiang An’s mind.

He confidently said, ”It’s very possible that during the incident, the deceased’s head had a soft object cushion.”

”In my view, this soft object very likely was the pillow.”

”In such a situation, hitting the head wouldn’t result in a visible bleeding wound.”

”If there’s no clear bleeding from the head, obviously there wouldn’t be noticeable bloodstains on the pillow.”

Then Jiang An paused briefly and continued, ”But where did the drool mixed with faint blood come from?”

Suddenly, a possibility occurred to Jiang An’s mind.

That it might have originated from damage to the mucous membrane of the mouth.

After a long consideration, Jiang An said solemnly to Zhang Yean, ”Senior, I suspect the deceased’s mouth and nose might have been covered, causing local mucosal damage.”

”In the end, the blood and saliva stuck together on the pillow.”

Following Jiang An’s speculation, both Zhang Yean and Mr. Chen fell into deep thought.

While the two were at a loss, Jiang An continued, ”Even though the place of death isn’t very close to new neighbors.”

”But when it’s quiet at night, a sudden noise could still panic the killer.”

”Only by covering the deceased’s mouth and nose with a pillow could the sound be muffled.”

”In this process, it causes local mucosal bleeding, mixed with saliva sticking to the pillow.”

Five minutes later, Zhang Yean slowly nodded.

She nodded and said, ”Junior, I think your hypothesis is very likely.”

”Once, during my university years, I did encounter an elderly person suffocated to death by a pillow.”

”On one hand, the pillow can prevent the victim from shouting, on the other, it acts as a cushion impact, not causing localized pressure-related violent fractures.”

At this moment, Mr. Liu behind was enlightened as well.

He suddenly turned to look at Jiang An, his eyes full of admiration.

It seemed as if Jiang An embodied the aura of a TV series protagonist, shining with analytical brilliance at the scene.

Even though the present scene was different, the logical thinking of the analysis was entirely similar.

Mr. Liu nodded heavily, giving a thumbs up.

He praised, ”Young man, your analysis just now was excellent.”

”The entire deductive process is reasonable, even to an amateur like me.”

At this moment, Jiang An turned around and saw the unkempt middle-aged man behind him.

He was momentarily surprised and slightly startled.

Then, Zhang Yean said, ”Junior, let me introduce you.”

”This is my senior Liu Dong, he’s the police chief of this jurisdiction.”

Jiang An nodded and greeted with a smile, ”Hello, Mr. Liu.”

Liu Dong raised a hand and patted Jiang An’s shoulder.

With a beaming smile, he said, ”Young man, I think your analysis was very reasonable.”

”I’ve watched plenty of American crime scene investigation shows, and you have the demeanor of a protagonist.”

Jiang An smiled modestly, quickly waving his hand, ”Mr. Liu, you’re too kind.”

”My skills aren’t up to the exquisite level of TV series.”

”However, this is just a speculation.”

”Whether it’s correct or not, we have to look back after the case is solved.”

”No problem, I think you analyzed it well.”

At this moment, Zhang Yean also nodded in agreement: ”Junior, after your analysis just now, I seem to understand.”

”I think on the night of the incident, it might have been like this.”

”The deceased, Wang Jianghe, was sleeping in bed when the killer rushed in. As his face was covered, at the same time, he was struck by a heavy object causing a skull fracture.”

Jiang An listened, nodding slightly.

”The whole process was probably like this.”

”But now, I’m wondering where the murder weapon is.”

As he spoke, his gaze once again swept across the room.

Meanwhile.

Wang Shantao had already been brought back to the investigation team’s interrogation room by Li Jian and Wan.

The on-duty officer in the interrogation room saw Captain Li Jian rushing in, his face puzzled.

He asked, ”Mr. Li, do we need to interrogate this person again?”

As he spoke, he glanced at the woman’s silver bracelet, contemplating as he looked at Li Jian.

Li Jian’s face was solemn as he nodded slightly.

He simply said, ”Open Interrogation Room 1, we need to use it.”

The young man understood immediately.
