The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 363: Chapter 221: Three-Pronged Advance! (Part 2)

Jiang An arranged the bones and clothing neatly on the lab table.

Every movement revealed respect for the deceased and a dedication to the truth, as if performing a sacred ritual.

Jiang An turned to Zhang Yean and spoke softly, ”Sister, could you run next door again and get a camera?”

”We need to take pictures of key areas later.”

Zhang Yean nodded gently and said without hesitation, ”Sure, I’ll go get the Sony camera right away and ensure the task is completed.”

At this moment, Jiang An picked up the skull again, his eyes like spotlights, fervent and focused, and began to examine it carefully.

Aside from the initially discovered longitudinal skull fracture.

He wished he could see through every bone seam to see if there were other fractures hidden inside.

Wan stood beside him, staring at the cervical vertebrae, involuntarily recalling the tragic scene in the valley.

”Brother Jiang An, what kind of condition do you think this severe skull fracture was inflicted under?”

Jiang An pondered for a long time before speaking slowly, ”Judging by the fracture’s appearance, I guess it was likely inflicted while the person was asleep.”

”When a person is asleep, they are completely unguarded and most vulnerable to such unexpected misfortune.”

”While asleep?”

”Wouldn’t there be a pillow or something cushioning the head?”

Zhang Yean came over with the camera, looking curiously interested.

In his impression, a college professor had mentioned that striking someone while asleep could cause extensive skull fractures due to the special pressure on the head.

Jiang An looked at Zhang Yean and explained, ”Yes, such linear overall skull fractures are typically caused by pillow cushioning impacts.”

”If struck by a blunt object while sleeping, with force concentrated at a point, point and linear fractures can appear on the skull.”

”Moreover, if there’s something cushioning the head, it’s like cracking a walnut; apply pressure front and back, and crack, the walnut shatters, and so does the skull.”

”Cracking a walnut...”

Zhang Yean murmured to himself, a look of sudden understanding appearing on his face, now he understood.

When cracking a walnut, despite its hardness, applying force correctly on both sides causes it to split instantly, somewhat similar to this skull fracture.

Indeed, life is full of learning.

Having observed the skull, Jiang An found no other fractures, and slowly moved his gaze to the deceased’s teeth.

He raised his hand to lightly pinch and shake the teeth, finding them only slightly loose and not fallen out.

Jiang An was suddenly lost in thought, full of doubts: with such severe head fractures, the teeth remained stable as a rock.”

”Based on past experience, if the deceased had resisted or struggled, the face would certainly have taken a punch first.”

”Yet now, the cheekbone, jawbone, and lower jaw are unharmed, and the teeth, the most likely place to loosen, show no abnormalities.”

He pondered what mysterious situation could have caused such contradictory results.

Under what strange circumstances was the deceased knocked to death?

Meanwhile, at the Phoenix Mountain Police Station.

Mr. Liu was like an ant on a hot pan, pacing back and forth in the office, almost leaving a dent in the floor.

Last month, the application to upgrade Phoenix Mountain to a 5A scenic area was just submitted, now it was at the crucial approval stage, and suddenly a body appeared.

Isn’t this holding up the approval process?

Just as he was fuming, the phone rang suddenly.

Impatiently, he grabbed the phone, glanced down, and saw it was Detective Li Jian calling.

He hesitated for two seconds, took a deep breath, tried to suppress his anger, answered the call, and spoke as calmly as possible, ”Detective Li.”

”Mr. Liu, we’ve completed the scene investigation, and now we need your assistance in sorting through the missing persons’ cases.”

”No problem, Detective Li, you organize it, and we’ll be at the station ready to assist your criminal investigation work.”

Hearing Mr. Liu’s straightforward response, Li Jian laughed and thanked him, ”Thank you very much.”

”Please gather any reports of missing persons from our jurisdiction and nearby police stations over the past three weeks.”

”Okay, no problem, I’ll get on it immediately.” Mr. Liu then asked, ”But can you tell me the deceased’s age and gender so I can conduct a targeted investigation?”

”According to the medical examiner’s report, the age is 37 years, male, and during his lifetime, he likely had a serious illness, possibly cancer.”

Despite the brevity of the sentences, the information was substantial.

Mr. Liu was a bit perplexed for a moment, and before ending the call, he asked, ”Detective Li, is this information reliable?”

”Since time is so tight, we must rely on trustworthy information.”

”Reliable, absolutely reliable, you can trust me.”

On the other end, Mr. Liu hesitated a moment, wanting to speak but stopping, ”However, it seems Mr. Wu wasn’t here today; could the new medical examiner be handling it?”

Li Jian laughed, ”Haha, so that’s what you’re worried about.”

”Mr. Wu is on vacation, and now Jiang An is the lead medical examiner at our Jiangcheng City Bureau’s criminal investigation team.”

”Jiang An?”

Mr. Liu, who hadn’t attended any meetings at the city bureau recently, wasn’t too familiar with Jiang An.

However, hearing Li Jian’s certainty, he felt this person should be reliable.

Finally, Mr. Liu said, ”Alright then, since Detective Li trusts him so much, we will trust him unconditionally too.”

”I’ll immediately assign community officers and on-duty personnel at the station to conduct a thorough search of our jurisdiction, sparing no effort to find if anyone similar is discovered, we’ll report to you immediately.”

”Alright then, thank you for your efforts.”

At this moment, in Jiangcheng City People’s Hospital.

Mr. Fu led a team, entering the medical records room confidently and energetically.

”Hello, we are officers from the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, and we need your assistance with an important case investigation.”

Mr. Fu politely showed his badge and spoke with determination.

In the medical records room, a middle-aged woman with glasses was buried in a pile of documents.

Hearing the voice, she looked up, rubbed her sore eyes, and said, ”No problem, what can I do for you?”

Mr. Fu briefly explained the purpose of their visit, ”We want to retrieve records of male patients diagnosed with cancer in the past six months, focusing on ages 35 to 40.”

The woman adjusted her reading glasses, showing a hint of surprise, ”So detailed?”

”We are seeking the deceased’s identity, who likely had cancer.”

The woman nodded, ”No problem, but organizing it will take some time.”

”It’s alright, we’re here to assist you.”

The woman nodded again and then entered the office inside.

Meanwhile, at Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau.

Detective Li Jian got out of the car, exhausted, and without even drinking water, headed straight to Mr. Ma’s office.

Despite it being a Saturday, Mr. Ma was still at his post in the office.

Like a general holding down the fort, waiting for frontline reports.

”Knock, knock!”

”Come in.”

”Mr. Ma.”

Mr. Ma looked up at the clock on the wall.

”Hmm, coming in so late, the case must be troublesome?”

He nodded, gesturing towards the table, ”Let’s sit down and talk.”

”Recently, it seems either your team is unlucky, or too busy; case after case.”

Detective Li Jian smiled wryly and said, ”Mr. Ma, I won’t say much.”

”Although solving cases can earn honors and improve performance, it’s so frequent that we’re overwhelmed.”

Mr. Ma smirked and said, ”Your team is handling cases continuously, also bringing back results, things that make other teams envious.”

Hearing this, Li Jian chuckled.

”This honor isn’t easy, it requires a lot of effort.”

”Haha, don’t boast too much.”

”However, since Jiang An joined your team, the efficiency in solving cases has indeed greatly improved.”

Li Jian smiled and said, ”Thanks to your guidance, we had the opportunity to recruit and add fresh blood to the team.”

Just as he finished speaking, Mr. Ma smiled.

He then shifted his tone and said, ”But let me warn you, young people need to push forward.”

”But don’t wear them out; if you exhaust such good talents, I’ll hold you accountable.”

Li Jian quickly assured, ”Haha, Mr. Ma, I’ll always remember that.”

”If there’s danger, I’ll ensure to protect his safety first, and won’t let anything go wrong.”
