Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 599: Chapter 599: Want to Start the Internship Early

Yan Ye saw An Hao standing there stunned and said to her, ”Come over and help.”

”Oh,” An Hao immediately followed.

”Could someone please call an ambulance?”

”I’ll go, I’ll go!” The driver, frightened to the point of weak knees, didn’t dare to drive anymore and ran off to the nearest hospital.

Yan Ye checked the injuries on the side, felt the young man’s pulse, and said to An Hao, ”His ribs are broken and have punctured his organs. This situation is very dangerous; we can’t move the injured carelessly.”

”Mhm,” An Hao attentively memorized Yan Ye’s words.

Yan Ye managed to stop the bleeding from the external wound, but the internal injuries would have to wait for surgery.

The ambulance arrived quickly.

The emergency doctor lifted the patient onto the stretcher and into the ambulance; Yan Ye followed and, turning back, saw An Hao’s eager eyes. He exchanged a few words with the emergency doctor and brought An Hao into the vehicle as well.

The patient was taken to the affiliated hospital of Military Medical University, and as the top surgeon there, Yan Ye naturally took his place in the operating room.

”Teacher Yan, may I join the operation?” Since her goal was to study medicine, she would inevitably end up in an operating room eventually.

Why not get some early experience?

Yan Ye hesitated for a moment but finally nodded, ”Come in then. Disinfect in the disinfection room, change into the scrubs, and then you can join us.”

An Hao agreed.

This was her first time in an operating room, and its atmosphere inexplicably gave her a sense of tension.

It was also An Hao’s first time seeing Yan Ye lead a surgery. As expected, like his teaching, his operation appeared smooth and pleasing to watch.

”Left ribs fractured in three places, nearly piercing the heart,” Yan Ye said, then lifted his head to glance at An Hao, who was observing from not far away.

After all, she was still a student, and it was natural for her to be nervous and worried seeing this for the first time.

However, looking at An Hao, her expression was calm, her mind following the surgery throughout.

The surgery took a total of five hours, from anesthesia to sewing up the wound and wheeling out of the operating room.

These five intense hours allowed An Hao to feel the sanctity of the medical profession.

The school required them to do physical training every day, and the military-style management was not useless at all; just standing in the operating room for a long time during surgery was an incredibly energy-consuming task.

After leaving the operating room, An Hao earnestly said to Yan Ye, ”Teacher Yan, I want to start my internship early. Can I come to the hospital to learn and observe when I don’t have classes?”

”Of course,” Yan Ye said, removing his mask, ”An Hao, you have great potential to be unlocked. But medicine is a vast subject. If you want to achieve something within these five years, I suggest you expand your knowledge and increase your reservoir of information.”

”I understand what to do.”

Yan Ye nodded with satisfaction, fell silent for a few seconds, then said to An Hao, ”I currently have a research project in my hands. If you can finish all the knowledge of the second year before the winter break and pass my exam, I will pull you into the team, breaking the usual rules.”

”Really?” An Hao’s eyes shone with excitement; not everyone had the opportunity to be involved in research projects.

These could increase credits, and later on, lead to publishing papers, and even give chances to stay in the military hospital after graduation without having to go through grassroots experience.

An Hao worried about not being able to be with Qin Jian in the future.

Now she must work hard and achieve something noteworthy; maybe then she could have a choice like Teacher Yan Ye, at the very least.
